True, investigators are more likely to investigate if a political figure dies compare to some random guy who died in an area known for violence/homicide(also some departments has limited budget, meaning they have less manpower/resources). The worst criminal I've seen was the Colombian killer Garavito, he died last year. He was charged for r*aping and killing 170 kids. there are 6 options. 1. There is someone or some cops corrupt.. 2. The cops are Blind af... 3. They thought he had something to do with the drugs but not the killing since he dont seems like a killer and since they thought he is not the murderer, he dosent get sentenced because they scared that the "real" killer goes ghost mode and hide.. 4. They knew but the cops wanted more evidence, the client or someone above that and waited for everything.. 5. he's a scapegoat and confessed for more murders than he actually did, so the family gets good money since he already gonna rot in jail for 25 or more years, he probably did some calls/taliking after he found out that there is a warrant for murder and they where looking for him and so he did something like a "insurance" for his family.. he is probably lying how much money he got for the kills he did cause they would look hard under every rock for the client with FBI or CIA and shit like that, if he got too much for 1 kill.. 6. some of those options together..
