I actually applied a multi-pronged approach to reducing the audio delay. One thing I've done is to increase the available memory and processing power on the phone as much as possible. So I've been slowly clearing out all apps that are not absolutely essential, deleting all files that are taking up any memory anywhere, clearing out all app caches, and putting the phone in airplane mode to make sure that as little as possible is happening in the background. And THEN I restart the phone just before I do the video reframing. This seems to help a lot. I have to make sure tons of memory and RAM is available to do the reframing. And then I do all the regular video editing on my laptop and NOT on the smartphone. The Kinemaster app seems to always add its own audio delay after the Insta360 app adds its audio delay. So by copying all the reframed videos to the laptop and doing the final edit there using DaVinci Resolve, I get rid of at least the Kinemaster problem. I also shorten the length of the video clips I shoot with the 360 camera. Instead of shooting for long periods of time, I stop-and-start recording constantly to make sure every single video clip is shorter rather than longer. The longer the clip is, the more the audio drifts out of sync. If I keep each clip under three to five minutes, the audio problem is reduced. But even all of this isn't perfect. The audio still drifts out of sync. And now when I edit the final video in DaVinci Resolve, I have to cut up each video clip into segments of a couple minutes each. And I pull the audio track back to line it up for each clip when necessary. I've gotten much faster and more efficient at doing that. I've figured out a routine that gets it done quickly. It's not easy, but I don't have a choice. 🤪

I don't remember why anymore, but on that day my idea was just to record some random video of the street life. I was just heading out to run some errands, and I had no plans to make a video out of the experience. But at the last minute, I grabbed the camera and brought it along. And I talked a little bit, but, as you pointed out, not as much as usual. 😀

I've actually thought about that for years. One of my first long bike trips was across most of Canada, and I was camping out most nights. And when you spend so many nights with just a tent and the trees and the ground, you start to understand how big a difference a simple chair would make to your life. You have no idea how amazing chairs are until you try living without one. And they do make lightweight camping stools. I've known people who cycled around the world with one of these portable stools strapped to their bike. And they would all say that it was the best thing they brought with them. It makes camping out, eating, cooking, working on the bike, reading, whatever so much more comfortable. The stool is big and bulky and heavy as a thing to carry around, but they're nice to have. 🙂

Good eye. I think some of it was shot in HDR mode. With this version of the Insta360 camera, they introduced an active mode for HDR, so you can use it while walking around. I think I experimented with it a bit, and I have a memory of using it here. But I don't really like it myself. As you wrote, it's a bit too vivid. It doesn't seem natural to me. I've stopped using it for the most part. It also produces a lot more heat, and the camera has a tendency to overheat and shut down when using HDR mode.

I never thought of that, but it is what it looks like, isn't it? It looks vaguely threatening, like I'm concealing a weapon down there. 🙂

No, it hasn't been fixed. The problem was that the audio was going out of sync with the video when I reframe the 360 video clips. And that is still happening. But I've used a variety of techniques to try to reduce the problem. It still happens, but when it does, I now separate the audio track from the video track periodically and adjust it so that it goes back into sync. Unfortunately, the syncing problem isn't consistent. It drifts farther and farther out of sync the longer the video plays. And I have to chop up the video and keep pulling it back into sync over and over. It's a pain, but I haven't found any other solution.

I do miss it. But there wasn't much I could do about it in Dumai. I think the nearest Starbucks was far, far away. I actually haven't tried to visit many cafes or coffee shops even when they've been around. The coffee seems overpriced compared to what you can get for the same amount of money. I end up thinking that I can buy this small cup of iced coffee or, for the same amount of money, I can get a full liter of ice cold milk. And I go for the milk. It's a much better value. 🙂
