Not surprised about Tangled beating out Princess and the Frog. Personally, I think Tangled is a better film in general, though that's not a knock to Princess and the Frog as it is a pretty good Disney film. If Princess and the Frog released TODAY, it would probably be overwhelmingly loved with much higher scores. At the time there wasn't near as much of a social movement to lift up black representation in film, considering that President Obama was literally just elected. It was a big deal, but nowhere close to the reception Black Panther received. Thus, the film definitely didn't get the same boost that Black Panther did (which though I recognize the significance it has for many people in the US, let's be honest, is a pretty mediocre film). Tiana is probably represented more in Disney properties nowadays not because the movie was successful compared to other similar properties, but because it means a lot to little girls who see representation in her and the adult individuals who appreciate Disney's attempts to be more diverse in their character lineup. I actually think comparing Princess and the Frog to Black Panther is a really good case study in how general movie goer's tastes have changed in the decade between the two. Consider the dying out of the Princess-themed animated film and the rise of the Superhero movie, and the shift in audience preference for including minority representation as an important factor in enjoyment of the media.

Of all the insane takes he has in this video, the most absurd must be thinking that Annihilation, some 6.5 or so garbage 2018 run of the mill sci fi movie nobody watched was anywhere near Leon The Professional, one of the highest rated movies of all time and easily and by far the best Natalie Portman movie AND best Jean Reno movie ever at like an 8.5. I can only blame this on temporary insanity or an undiagnosed stroke.

From a layman’s perspective Order of the phoenix is absolutely the worst movie save for deathly hallows part 1. From a more critical perspective Order of the phoenix had a tough role because even though Goblet of fire is the mid point of the series narratively is it still feels like the first half. Only towards the end does everything change. Order of the phoenix is the left with establishing the new tone for the series, in a sense it’s a soft rebirth. It’s much more goal oriented while the first half feel quite meandering. The first books/movies felt like kids having fun magical quests but after order of the phoenix it feels like real world problems. Even the colors they use change drastically causing a heavier atmosphere. Order of the phoenix feels different because it is different. Besides world building almost nothing really carries over save for a few critical plot threads. It’s setting an entirely new foundation and enables half blood prince and deathly hallows to be some of the best books. Order of the phoenix is a bad movie and the book somehow manages to be even more dull, it feels like watching paint dry.

Ask all the people who rated Spy Kids what their 2001-self would have said, and it's a 9/10. You can't grow up, develop a snobbishness towards film and then rate children's movies accurately. They're not for you, they were for you ten, twenty years ago.
