After seeing Jensen's films, I have to agree that Danish dark comedy is like nothing else in the film industry. I know Anders Thomas said that Men & Chicken was not well-received in comparison to his other films, but I loved it. It's true I loved Adam's Apples and Riders of Justice more, nevertheless, *Danish* dark comedy is the best there is.

@@RoxyWrites I haven't seen Riders of Justice yet, but from the trailers and few scenes I have seen, it reminds me a bit of Blinkende Lygter (Flickering Lights), also from Jensen. That movie had me cracking with laughs all through out. As a Danish speaker I've always been curious if non-Danish speakers would find it as funny. I think a lot of the jargon gets lost in translation. Have you seen that movie? If so, I would love to hear your opinion! :)

@@IncorrigibleBigotry Yes, and it's hysterical! That was one of the first Danish movies I ever saw. The gun scenes... omg. I remember literary losing it when Mads character's cigarette is burning down with this long ash hanging off while he's trying to cook and the ash is going everywhere. I think if you're willing to read subtitles and you're paying attention to the the facial expressions of the actors it translates... unfortunately in America the norm for viewers is we have to cook, talk on the phone, text on Twitter, eat, help the kid with homework, put the dog out, do our nails and whatever else all at the same time while watching a movie or show... and we wonder why we don't like subtitles and things don't make sense. Having gone to film school I am an anomaly and insist on watching like it's CPR instructions, but that's not the norm. I only think EU films translate if the viewer is willing to pay attention and does not expect every movie to have a happy ending with all the loose ends tied in a cute Disney bow on top.

@@IncorrigibleBigotry Regarding Riders... highly recommend.. it's extreme insanity mixed with serious events, and it just leaves you with this profound sense of not wanting to try and control anything bc you can't and humans are built to try and convince ourselves we can exert control over other people's events etc. and everything goes to shit when we try to do that, and we really just have our own emotions and response, and learning to control those and express those is enough of a task anyway. You'll enjoy it if you like his other work.

@@RoxyWrites Danish humour is super dark and subtle, dare i say dry. It's also very sarcastic. Foreigners that live here have a lot of problems understanding wether something is a joke or not.

Staying away from work you love is never an answer. Never. The answer is to address the underlying, foundational problem, which is human ignorance and dishonesty-the tendency to devolve into the dialogue of the id brain, our lizard brain, fight or flight reactions without using logic, reason, or proof. This is what is causing most of the pain humanity is feeling on the planet at this time, whether it be "holy" (srsly?) wars, blind persecution of those not guilty, or the rampant rise of fascism. Those things can only prevail, only win out, if we allow logic, reason, tolerance and understanding to be ignored. That is the root of the issue, and to decide not to go into teaching if you love that work, is simply not an answer or solution that will help in either the short or long-term. (have taught in corporate, TEFL, ELL, and K12)

@@SJGibbons1000 There is nothing fluffy about fascism. And you're are speaking in conjecture and supposition rather than speaking from having known people who were accused by children. This is something that we as a society/species will need to work out, if you personally don't feel that you want to be a part of that solution, by all means, step out of education, but don't presum, without any direct experience around cases like that, that you know better than anyone in education for 25+ years. Fluffy is anecdotal experience, what is needed by people commenting on this serious but addressable matter is experiential experience and there is nothing fluffy about the latter, nor about my own experience in education or journalism.

@SíochánUltimately, I believe in taking risks. Nothing is foolproof, there is no utopia. The question is always, which "dystopia" do you believe in being a part of and what are you willing to risk to stand for what you believe in? That must be answered by each of us, individually, and there is no shame in stepping out of education if we do not feel that th risk - reward is the right balance for us.

Sadly no, people jumping the gun like this is how a lot of false accusations get started. Remember it's a country school so this woman would be woefully underqualified to deal with the situation and she's also an idiot considering she works with children but also doesn't think they ever lie. It's not that unrealistic although in my own experience my school handled a similar situation a lot better.

YoDa BaKi I appreciate your reply ...and your very correct .....I've seen this movie a few times...and I realise now (well in my opinion)the director is giving the worse case example.. regarding who is your boss in this situation... The film really is a masterpeice in human hunting . And even the end shot is like a horror movie...saying that your experience will never leave you

In a position of responsibility taking care of vulnerable people. It’s a very hard thing to get right all the time. It is quite plausible for a person doing their job professionally and correctly to get done like this. There is no cameras so it takes a witness and someone to allow this to happen. The woman and the man she brought in put the nails in the coffin for him. Other hand people who know how to manipulate the system can get away with these things . If the woman was actually guilty of something she was accused of and that guy who she was friendly with came in to oversee the situation the questions may not have been so leading. It comes down to peoples word . It’s scary but that’s the reality of a job like this .

There is a specific procedure for Child Protection issues in the UK (I imagine Denmark has something similar) and she goes against every one of these guidelines in the film. As a teacher, I found this infuriating! In real life, her actions could lead to her being struck off. Sure, perhaps she was just overwhelmed or incompetent, or ill-trained, all of which are strong possibilities in real life too.

The thing I did not understand why girl did not tell about he's brother was she afraid he would kill her? And why that teacher was blamed?
