The dumbbells are really tight in the clamps as they barely fit. I have to squeeze them pretty hard to get them locked, but once set, they are great. Balance overall is good as long as you use the same weight on both ends.

Would you please be able to tell me how thick (not estimated but measured) the open Jayfley Hyperbell clamp is? Nowhere could I find this information and given that I have the Powerblock Sport 24 - which do not have the to barrels for the 2 cylindrical extra weights in the handle, if thin enough (34mm max) the open clamp would easily slip between handle and the single stabilizer plate at the bottom of the grip module. If anyone knows the thickness of the opened clamp, that would be great!

If it had an an extension to the bar... Not much, but just enough that my large 90 Pound dumbbells are not smashing my arms when doing bench press that would be nice... Then made out of metal and I'd be sold... Honestly I'm think about making my own at home with just a metal rods and some nuts at the ends to interface with a hinge mechanism that would be threaded.

I’d have liked to see how you get into a bench press or squat. If I’m squatting with 70 or 80 lb dumbbells, seems like I have to overhead press that to start , and then how do I unwind that when I’m done with my set and tired??
@GamerBody
@GamerBody Жыл бұрын
This is actually one of the main reasons I don't do squats with it. You would have to "clean and press" it into position for a back/front squat. Instead, I just hold the dumbbells themselves for those exercises. It work's well for RDLs though.

Great review, but what's the reason for going slow on your reps? Thanks in advance
@GamerBody
@GamerBody Жыл бұрын
It is to keep constant tension on the target muscle group. If you lift fast, momentum will assist the dumbbell taking some of the tension off the muscles until you "catch" it when it slows down. You don't have to go super slow, I just say do a speed you can control to stay in good form.

Looks like a great product. My issue, however, is that when Jayflex did move "up" from the Cross Grips to the Ryze Ups, the quality went down and used more plastic rather than less, not up in quality with a product with the material of the Cross Grips. So the track record here in improving upon an original idea isn't very encouraging.

I'm a bit curious as to why you haven't bought say a half rack. With that you'd have a reliable pull up bar, potentially spotter arms and such. @@GamerBody Morning Workouts my guy. 😀 I just seems those dumbelss will be limited to do any heavy duty training like heavy squats, deadlifts, and power cleans.
@GamerBody
@GamerBody 2 жыл бұрын
That's perfectly fine. I have no desire to do heavy for any of those exercises. As long as I can reach failure with a 6-10 second rep speed between 5-15 reps in a set I am good to go :) Now some exercises are starting to get to a point where I can do all the reps (squats being an example) so that is where I may need to change things up a bit. Split squats may be something I change to before upgrading to heavier dumbbells, or I do all the reps, then do a wall-sit until failure.

@@GamerBody You seem more focused on bodybuilding (safely) than powerlifting anyway. Also, now that you are closer to 40 than 20, there’s really no point in going heavy for heavy sake. At 45, I’ve zero interest in going as heavy as possible. My heaviest item is a 100 lbs sandbag. Also, aside from being old, I’m too pretty to catch an injury trying to ego lift . 😁👍
@GamerBody
@GamerBody 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah that's the main reason I just have the 50s but slow down the rep speed so I fail out in that 5-15 rep range. Everything I look at now revolves around safety as I hate being hurt. As I get older and older, 50 may start to be the max I need again. I still think 50 lbs will be enough for the average person for their lives when used appropriately.
