The "backlash" against Joe Rogan is the epitome of manufactured outrage. The people trying to cancel him don't hate him for saying that word or anything, they hate him because he gives a platform to people with all kinds of different opinions and beliefs through his podcast. They don't want to restrict "harmful content" or "misinformation", they just want to restrict speech they disagree with. And as for the actual video, I've seen it and each clip was so obviously taken out of context.
@SaltoDaKid
@SaltoDaKid 2 жыл бұрын
It’s not manufactured it’s organic, he using N word knowing it’s not unacceptable for any white man say that word due the history. Also he consistently give misinformation. But the problem isn’t his podcast cause we have thousand worst people then Joe, that are speaking in more harmful content. BUT HES BEING PUSHED BY SPOTIFY. That’s where Joe Rogan “canceling” coming from he shouldn’t be worshipped like a role model for Spotify. Why even call them out? Joe even says himself that he doesn’t read comments. Aside the fact that it was 99% out of context. I’m not sure why people are trying to cancel people over words. Even worse, it’s not even about racism, it’s about control because feelings matter more than facts. Joe rogan makes some valid points and arguments behind the stigma of said “offensive” words. I mean, if I dig deep enough in anyone’s archives, I will find some kind of bigotry/racism/fascism… Only extremists are calling this out and allowing them to say that we can’t say words because of their feelings, is the definition of censorship and that’s coupled with being controlling.

Is it worth ignoring your fellow citizens doing the best they can to be decent people and bring up their past to try to destroy their livelihoods because they don't fit with the politics of a party that really doesn't care about you? Bringing up an instance of hypocrisy doesn’t cancel out the two scenarios. In almost every instance of Rogan fans saying “well what about when this guys did ____” is them bringing up someone with less clout in mainstream media. Society holds these famous figures to the same standard as any other author musician etc but because of their platform and larger fan base they are made examples of faster and it is not a means to control them but instead to show people what not to do if they want to be inclusive and have a larger audience. Joe Rogan understands this and that’s why he apologized. His apology isn’t a sign of weakness as some fans might think it’s a sign that he really does truly care about the message he’s spreading. His apology will not erase this memory from the minds of his haters but it is a step in the right direction.

Joe Rogan's podcast isn't about being right or wrong on things like COVID or the likes nor is Joe Rogan meant to be this vast beacon of righteousness like what Twitter expects him to be. Joe Rogan and by extension, his podcast, is about discussion and thinking. He could of gone the route of 99% of other podcasters and just surround himself with people that think like him and clap like seals after every word, but instead he brings on people from different viewpoints and specialties to discuss why they agree or disagree in a way that encourages reasoning and evidence for the serious things and comedic value for the jokes. Every time he brings on a person with a differing view, he is risking himself getting clowned on for his bad takes. So even though I disagree with a lot of things he thinks, I have nothing but respect for the guy.
