I had this game way back when, and I couldn't figure anything out about it. It was just too cryptic and brutally difficult out of the gate. Oh well, now we have Dark Souls.

This is a excellent game that I feel is well worth adding to any NES collection. Just don't expect it to be a cakewalk.

One thing is for sure: the NES port sure had the best combat of all. It's quick, it's intense, and the enemies actually dodge. Love it.

I agree with that part. If you don't know this game's many items and when and where exactly to use, you are simply dead. The wormpit level with that detector is just a pain in the fucking ass. If you are 1 pixel off, you are done for.

DO NOT forget to get Ana's ring and give it to her. You will get the bad ending. Ive only finished this brutal game once, and got the bad ending because of that. That flying carpet is very difficult to control, hence why I never got the ring.

the worst part was if you died once it took you back to the beginning of the game. and that straight jab was a trick by the developers. It almost never connected and you always end up getting hit by opponent after you throw it.

That is the fatigue bar. It really doesn't mean anything other than when you attack the enemy it goes up constantly. The only usage I found is that if you top up the fatigue bar, the enemy has no chance to hit you.

So you become so fatigued the enemy can't hit you anymore? Lol. Great run though.

All it does is slow down your attacks the higher it gets. It rises when you attack, depletes when you do not. Ironically though it seems to get easier to strike your opponent the higher your fatigue gets, due to your full speed attacks often locking the enemy into a constant state of dodges.
