Hey there, I got to see this movie a week prior to its release. I'm in the military and we got an advanced screening for our base theater which is ironic considering that I saw the 2014 Godzilla movie in the exact same way! Anyway I wanted to tell you that the movie is great and I think you'll enjoy it. The creatures are treated with a sense of wonder and respect that you could only get from someone that clearly understood the source material. I don't think you'll be disappointed with this one and I can't wait for your review!

I still try to explain to my SO why I love Godzilla so much. When someone hasn't seen more than clips, especially of later-Showa era stuff, they think it's silly rubber-suited monster wrestling and awful dubbing. I try to explain to him that even I, as a child, first laughed at all those things (watching Sunday morning network tv re-runs of the WORST installments), but as you watch Big G films, you start to see the themes that recur......fear of nuclear war/poisoning/damage to the environment, the arrogance of humanity over nature. I was a young and eager environmentalist, I wanted to end pollution and species extinction, so watching G films became cathartic to me; nature got her back via Big G, but G wasn't a villain any more than a hurricane or earthquake...it was just nature, but nature that had a face, a roar and a great radiation breath weapon. After the relaunch in 1984/5 with a newer, bigger, fiercer and better made Godzilla film, I truly fell in love. You finally had a generation of filmmakers that were doing this seriously, wanted it to look good and it worked. I still love watching something so unstoppable, unbeatable as Godzilla and it's been so disappointing film after film ALWAYS LACKING SOMETHING....poor story, poor acting, Godzilla's that were ooc (American Zilla), even 2014 has way too little Godzilla and too much boring-human-actors on screen....I'm truly hoping the 2019 installment fixes what 2014 missed (too little of the monsters), but I'm almost afraid to hope. At least the monsters look better these days, right?

This is a little personal, but why I love Godzilla so much. I was bullied all through school, people always tried to fight me just because of the way I looked, the music I listened to, the movies I like etc. And no matter how much I tried to ignore it or "kill them with kindness" they would never leave me alone. Godzilla taught me to not be afraid of others and if someone tries to pick a fight, fight back! Once I started doing that, yes I got in trouble but it saved me and helped me survive school. I'll forever be a G fan. Long live the king!

I'd like to add that Kong: Skull Island is _insanely_ underrated. It really speaks to the effort that Legendary has put into this entire "cinematic Universe". It's one of the few studios to realize that the key to success in a franchise is for it to come from a place of love. Given that track record, the sheer _confidence_ in their advertising, and the love that seems to drip from every pore of this series, I think we might be in for something great.
@MrAlumni72

I really enjoyed that movie - but I find it odd that, in the scene where they walk through the gap in the mountains and behold Kong's 'valley" and the man-made structures along the edge ... I just wanted to pause the movie and go explore those bridges, buildings, etc. that had been made ages ago. the adventure could wait - somehow they had created a set that essentially reached out and grabbed me even more than the main character had.

@D core I think you're nitpicking bud, just try to have fun, who cares if Kong's arms are a bit stubby or Godzilla's a bit heavy, if the movie's good that's all that matters Plus Mothra looks butt fuck the same in every movie, one design that varies isn't gonna hurt

love all the Kong scenes in that, but imo, the human performer in this movie is pretty weak and it makes for a slightly less enjoyable movie. that being said, I totally agree that Legendary is being so respectful to this franchise in regards to recreating the iconic monster , it's pretty fuckin top.

I love Skull Island and 2014 Godzilla even more but some moments like "Hollywood School of Flight" in both movies where helicopters and jets go into kamikaze mode straight into the monster are cringy and painful to watch. There are other flaws too. But in general fine movies, lots of fun.

I know what it feels like, being alone with this hype about Godzilla; NONE of my close friends are excited for King of The Monsters as I am, I grew up loving these creatures; and growing up being fan can be hard, not only for the mocking from your peers; but for example; I live in Mexico, and there is really limited presence from Godzilla, zero collectables, zero comics; no toys or action figures; Theres was a really big need, a wish fulfillment of some sorts about having adventures with this monster and characters, that brought me to make my own Godzilla toys out of rubber and foam, I made almost every monster in the series; my big encounter with Godzilla was with cable TV; I was lucky my family could afford it, my first Godzilla movie was Godzilla 2000, followed by Godzilla vs King Kong, AND almost all the Millenium series were broadcast much to my enjoyment, It brings me a lot of joy knowing that I was not alone on this matter, people like you; there is a warm feeling.. thanks for this video.

I've been a Godzilla fan since I was 6, and Godzilla has been part of my life since then. It practically changed who I was as a person and it has forever stayed in my consciousness. Sure I may not have the biggest Godzilla/kaiju collection or even the luxury of possessing such treasure, but I still appreciate my love and appreciation of monster movies, both American and Japanese. Over the course of my life, I've grew more and more attached to the kaiju genre, exploring all sorts of media within the genre that isn't just from Godzilla. With Godzilla king of the monsters coming, it's the kaiju movie we've all wanted to see ever since legendary got the rights to the character in 2010, it shows how Hollywood can do the kaiju genre justice and appreciate both the fans and the franchise at large. My love of Godzilla, Jurassic park and monster movies are what made me who I am now and I thank god for the identity I have for being a fan of Godzilla.

Funnily enough, my friend actually got me into Godzilla. He told me about the movies and said there were some on Netflix (This was 5 years ago when those movies were on Netflix). He recommended Terror of Mechagodzilla. That night, I went and watched it. Needless to say, I got super into Godzilla after that, watching a bunch more of the movies. I remember being incredibly hyped for 2014 Godzilla, and I saw it on release day with the same friend. I also did it with King of the Monsters. I remember watching my first Godzilla movie as a kid, Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla. One of my best friends tried to share his Godzilla passion with me and oh god did it stick. As cheesy as these movies could be, I loved every single one of them thanks to the campy superhero feel. I shudder to think how many hours I spent on the Pipeworks Godzilla videogame trilogy. I mainly played as Ghidorah in them.

Oh man... I relate so hard to the hardship that came with trying to get your friends into Godzilla and feeling a bit shameful that you liked it, especially since both my friends and family found it weird for a girl to fangirl over a giant radioactive lizard. I'm happy I stuck to my guns despite the ridicule (tbh it was gonna happen anyways since I was an open anime fan too) because my god is it a good time to be a Godzilla fan! I hold the same sentiment as you. I don't think that the movie will flop terribly but I think that regardless if it does, the movie's existence is good enough for me. How long have I waited for my girl Mothra and boys Rodan and King Ghidorah to get some love? Too long. Hopefully this movie spreads the love! Not important but my first movie that I can remember was Mothra vs Godzilla and the scene where she cocooned herself was so strangely real and beautiful in my memory, even though I've seen it again and the magic isn't really there anymore, it's still a fond memory. Good video dude

I’ve known Godzilla since I was just a baby it was the first word I ever said and always loved it as a child. I always loved seeing the monsters just fight or it would be the original 1954 watching him destroy cities. I only cared about Godzilla and wanted to know everything. Later when I was In middle school I slowly started to fade from Godzilla I still loved it but not as much and hid it from my friends of worrying they would drop me. But I got back to it once again from my grandpa. My grandpa would always watch the movies with me when I was younger and he wanted to watch a movie with me and he chose Godzilla vs destoryah and he got to see 2014 with me.and told me he would take me to see this one Now I’m currently 16 and my grandpa has passed away and nobody understands how much Godzilla means to me more now from him having a huge part of me loving it. The 1998 Godzilla movie got you into Godzilla? That's cool then. I think I was four as well when I got into Godzilla but my first was Smog Monster. Anyway strangest thing: I swear for much of my teenage and adult years that if anyone saw the 1998 Godzilla they loved it and hated the Japanese ones. As in they didn't like Godzilla being a guy in a suit being a slow tank. I had to accept that...Then until a couple of years ago people started popping up saying that 1998 Godzilla got them into more Godzilla movies and I'm so confused as to where these people are coming from now. I mean confused but happy.

Wow, I couldn't relate to this story any more than I did. I remember being that young kid growing up loving every second of those original Godzilla films, only to ditch my childhood hero for more "cool things" during my early teenage years. Then the announcement of the 2014 film back around 2010-2011ish just made me reconnect with Godzilla more than I ever did. I'm so happy this new franchise is gaining the exposure it is, giving the giant radioactive lizard more new fans and love for the future. This new movie is what every Godzilla fan dreamed of when they watched those old films as kids... we hope at least haha.

As a G-Fan, growing up around the same time, I can without a doubt say everything you said in this video resonated with me. I got into Godzilla because of my love of dinosaurs, I struggled to get my friends into the movies as a kid because they were slow, I still have the compendium on my bookshelf. While everyone else was playing with their X-Men toys, I was the nerd who brought the big, derpy-looking bootleg plastic Godzilla with me. Godzilla's scream at the end of 1985 still haunts me to this day, I remember how it sounds so vividly, and I don't think I'll ever be able to forget it. I remember the hype around the 1998 Tristar movie, "Finally, people were getting excited for a new Godzilla movie" Is all I could think. I remember my interest waning into my teens because I was embarrassed of what other people thought. Beat for beat, you just described my childhood, and I'm both sad and happy to learn I wasn't the only one who had a similar experience. Thank you, I was already having a bad day, but this video made me feel so much better because even though we never meet before, probably will never meet, hell, probably won't interact beyond this comment; today I learned that somewhere out there I have a brother in arms. To all of my fellow Godzilla fans, let's go make King of the Monsters the highest grossing movie in decades so that hopefully we get more and better Godzilla movies. To everyone, G-Fan or not, don't be afraid of or embarrassed of your passions, no matter what they may be, because more so than anyone else, they are important to you and that's all that should matter.

Wow, you practicly described my childhood. The only difference is that 1985 was like my 5th Godzilla movie, and when I saw that, I cried for a week. My mom practically went into depression for making her son so sad. Now, its my favorite G movie. Godzilla was and always will be my hero. I wish I had made this video, it was extremely well made, and brought back so many cherished childhood memories. Even when I was a teen, I never stopped loving Godzilla, I even love the 98 film in its own way. King of the Monsters I cant even describe how excited I am for it. PS: If in 2020 in Godzilla vs King Kong, G looses to Kong.... Im walking out of the theater and making a scene.

You essentially explained my childhood growing up. I was an avid Godzilla fan. Even managed to convince some of my closest friends to reenact scenes from some of the movies. Man this was a great video. You got a sub, your journey as a Godzilla fan sounded so much like mine and Im sure many others...I shed a tear. The non-fans wont understand, Marvel fans say they waited 10 years for Infinity War & Endgame.... But we waited over 20+ years for this movie and there was a long time in that time span I was almost certain we would never ever see it be made. A dream movie, what looks to be the quintessential big budget Godzilla movie that this franchise needed for so long. It looks like it will be "The Dark Knight" of kaiju movies and if it is lord I may cry in the theater. Enjoy this fellow G fans, we could have so easily never gotten this...Ever.

I'm pretty sure the Marvel fans were also waiting their whole lives for Infinity War/Endgame. Let's not pretend like fans of superhero movies haven't had a rough ride and significant lows. When movies like Daredevil were coming out do you think anyone thought we'd reach the point for superhero movies that we're at now? Of course not. This is a great moment for Godzilla fans. But Godzilla fans are hardly the only fanbase in the world that has suffered or waited for a movie that truly lived up to their hopes. Everyone should enjoy their time when it comes and for a few fanbases now is that time.

You truly never will hear a fan talk about their passions with as much fervor and reverence as you will when you talk to a Godzilla fan. It's not like other fandoms out there, we had to really fight to consume these movies when we got started, they weren't handed to us on television every saturday evening or three times a year on the big screen. We shared the same experiences, pal! I was always made fun of for expressing my love of the character. I thought I was in the wrong, but I couldn’t ignore what immense joy the series brought me. I once (will one day again) owner every Godzilla film at that point and I was damn proud of it. King of the Monsters, for all its faults, just blows me away because it’s a movie I thought I’d never see. Seeing such care and love put into the monsters only made the experience more surreal. I’ll never forget my jaw dropping seeing Ghidorah rise for the first time.

I definitely started crying a little at the end of this video, hearing that roar again. I cried a little in theatres too when I first heard it, but after hearing all that true love and excitement for the series, and dubbing the roar over old scenes of Heisei and Showa era, I definitely lost it. I've watched Godzilla movies since I was three. One of my earliest memories is getting in the car with my mom and dad, and mom turning around holding up a VHS copy of "Terror of Mechagodzilla" up in her hand for me--my dad had seen and liked a few old Godzilla flicks back in the day, and seeing that, and knowing how much I loved Barney and other dinosaurs, bought me that. The experience was electric--I spent the rest of my childhood feverishly asking my parents and grandparents for Godzilla movies for Christmas and my birthday, whilst stomping around the dining room, family room, and living room pretending to be the big man himself, destroying buildings. When the '98 "Americanized" Godzilla came out, we saw it in theatres for my birthday. Of course I loved it, I was only four. When Godzilla 2000 came out, my grandma took us to go see it. A couple years down the road, I got it on DVD, and got to see the behind the scenes for a lot of their city destruction scenes. It became my childhood's life goal to eventually become rich enough that I could pay people to set up Godzilla city sets for me to destroy. ...TL;DR, 10/10 great video, definitely spoke to me as a G-fan, you've got my subscription and notification bell.

This brings a tear to my eye, I just turned 19 a couple days ago. I don't remember who got me into Godzilla. I was into dinosaurs like yourself, and that eventually evolved into one of the greatest monsters of all time. I had a few dvds growing up, and anytime id go to blockbuster I'd rent out a new Godzilla movie. I'd show friends and tried getting them to get into it too. But like you I didn't see a man in a suit. All I saw was something amazing and truly awesome. But as I grew older and I got got out of elementary school and we moved to a new state, I started middle school and high school. I brought my G obsession there with me. But those other kids didn't understand and I was constantly bullied and ridiculed for it. I found it extremely hard to make friends that truly understood me, but just like Godzilla himself. No matter how big the enemy or how many times I got knocked down, I always got back up and fought through it. Eventually I was known as the Godzilla kid, and I wore that name like a badge of honor. I remember my parents playing the first Godzilla 2014 trailer to me on the tv, and when he roared I screamed an ran around my house like my ass was on fire! I was finally gonna see a Godzilla movie in the theaters, it was a dream come true. The dwindling flame of love for Godzilla was fueled into an uncontrollable wildfire! This movie means a lot to me, people will see what Godzilla truly was about. I am proud to be a Godzilla fan, and I wouldn't be the same person that I am today if it wasn't for Godzilla. I'll be damned if I'd let my love for Godzilla go. Godzilla is now a part of me and I guarantee you when the 100 year anniversary comes out and I'm in my 50s with kids of my own, you bet your ass ill be in theaters for the next film. Godzilla defines who I am, and I'm grateful he will forever be apart of me. Rock on G-fans!

It's heartening to see how close your experience was to my own growing up with the G-man. Most of my love for Godzilla came from old pirated VHS copies of Godzilla vs the Sea Monster, Godzilla vs Hedorah, Ghidorah the Three Headed Monster, and Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla. That turned into a similar scavenger hunt for me and my dad, and whenever we managed to score a new one wherever we were travelling we'd immediately watch it together. It was strange to me that nobody around me shared my interest, and it didn't seem like there were any Godzilla toys that I could rock out in the sandbox with, or anything like that. So I totally understand what you mean by the isolated fan feeling. I ran into a kid around my age on one of my family trips where we stopped at this big lobster statue. I commented that it reminded me of the Sea Monster from Godzilla, and when he said "You mean Ebirah?" I just about crapped my pants with excitement. And now we have this coming! Somehow with the last Star Wars, the last season of GoT, the last Avengers, and the last appearance of Stan Lee, this is what I've been most excited for, for years now. And that hype isn't slowing down.

Took the words right out of my mouth. Godzilla has always been a part of my childhood. During my early teenage years I lost my enthusiasm for him. Not completely, just not as invested. But after 2014, my enthusiasm skyrocketed again. After that movie that enthusiasm was locked away for the sequel that'd come eventually. So when I started seeing the teasers that enthusiasm was starting to break out of its cage. And now? I feel like when I was 8, watching Final Wars for the first time and knowing the monsters that were in it.

There’s been so many things that I loved from my childhood that I still love today and Godzilla was one of them. I found Godzilla when I was maybe 4 or 5 when my grandma got me and my brothers “Godzilla 2000” on DVD. We loved the movie and found a the PS2 Game “Godzilla: Save The World” and it was awesome and I loved playing it with my brothers and then we found out there was more Godzilla movies that we had no idea about. One of our cousins was a huge Godzilla fan and had a bunch of VHS tapes and DVDs that were Godzilla movies and we watched them together, eating ramen noodles and having an awesome time together, I’ll never forget those memories.
