I feel that "underrated" is not such a bad thing. It affords artists of this calibre the opportunity to produce work worthy of their gift; to appear on the most prolific stages, and to retain a sense of decency that would be - otherwise - lost were they to be "rated" and widely-celebrated (mainstream) for being as exceptional as they inherently are.

She sang this as though she was connected to his vision and emotions. His ambition became hers and she expressed it through song so that we could all feel it. Very soulful. This is what it means to be a singer and psalmist. You’re fully engulfed with the emotions of the song. Anyone with a nice voice can sing, but not everyone has this type of connection to what they’re singing about. I’m in awe. They couldn’t have chosen anyone better for this occasion. I’m inspired. President Kennedy would be moved by this I’m sure. What a great way to be honored.

Yet, we can't deny the fact that Cynthia Erivo transmitted and projected the song with great sentiment and power. Don't you agree?😊 Her performance touched my heart. Although I like both artists, for me Cynthia Erivo's rendition is henceforth the best I've heard up 'til now. Bravo!! - to both of them! -

I love Cynthia and this is great. However, I feel the lyrics are so simple but profound that it doesn't need all the dressing up in this arrangement. For me, Bryan Stokes Mitchell has still done the best version. Just my opinion.

Obviously you don't know much about singing. To comment in a condescending manner about other styles or techniques makes your ignorance show. Music, like everything in life, is a kaleidescope. It's quite okay to like/love one type or style without putting down the others, everyone's vocal ability is not the same, they do what they can and try to be good at it. fyi , this is the 12x i repeat this video.. well her performance got me chills yet emotion.. coz with all the pop cultures now, every great singer seem to make a competition against each other and forget the true essence of being a singer that is to deliver the message of the song.. I'm done with all the runs,rifting, etc .. all we need is the heart and true inside the performance.. good job dear! u may under the radar but u're definitely catch my attention better than those top singers

Good god. I first saw her in the movie "Widows". Wondered who that was. Looked her up in the credits. Had never heard of her before. But I keep hearing references to her here and there over the years so I looked her up just now on youtube and found this. And. She. Is. AMAZING. Now I have to find more.
