She is everything: she has the sweetest tone, she can belt (obviously), she has control, she interprets songs beautifully and she sweeps you away with her emotion.

I wrote Cynthia an email via her manager this past summer. I'm not sure if she ever got it because she was in the middle of The Color Purple, and I know how it gets when an actor is in the zone. But when Pulse happened, it really got me in the gut, a constant wave of insecurity and fear and sadness. At 31, it brought me back to being a young child, bullied and suicidal. All I could listen to for weeks afterward was her rendition of "I'm Here." It was really healing, and I was happy to see her play Celie before the show ended. Thank you, Cynthia, if you ever see this. You really embody the healing power of music and art.

But truth be told, I never really cared for it until hearing Cynthia’s rendition in this performance. IMO she’s a gifted 🎁, talented vocalist, and sings with so much emotion and passion that it spreads to my own 💖 and soul. * Although I only ‘discovered’ Cynthia about a week ago, I’ve since been listening to/watching much more of her.
