Hey loves,
Just a little personal update from me this week chatting about some of the things I've been up to in the past couple months. Let me know what you think of the more chatty style and if you like it, I'd be happy to do more.
It's been a strange and sad week. Lots of bright lights lost. Holding everyone tightly.
All my love,
Vix xxx

You are so eloquent. Manchester saddens me so much because it was an attack on little girls. That breaks my heart. Well spoken

I think that belonging to more than one nation has allowed me to engage in more critical discourse for both of them than I could have for either prior to. Although my circumstances are different I can relate to how home and identity become much more composite and at the same time ambiguous. I wish you the world of luck, and fantastic and meticulous legal council. I recently finished "Beyond the Pale" and can only say that I am more informed, empathetic, and knowledgeable after reading it. I really hadn't given as much mental space to those who live with albinism before as I should have. Looking forward to future content and reviews, as well as anything else you want to share.

+Alicia Thanks for your lovely comment Alicia - got everything done with the lawyer today and everything went down without a hitch so now just a question of waiting. What nations do you belong to? It's funny how that sense of home can be more of a feeling than a place, isn't it! Beyond the Pale has actually been sitting on my shelf for a while and I hear gorgeous things about it - so glad it resonated. Thanks so much for taking the time to watch.

Everything in his video felt so powerful to me. I find I am at a loss for how to reply, while at the same time wanting to put some words down for no other purpose than to say, "I was here. I was listening." I recently finished Margaret the First, Hotel World, If We Were Villains, and a sadly forgettable book of essays. I'm wanting to read Hagseed, so I can't wait to hear your thoughts!

Bilingual Bookworm I enjoyed it completely. I'm kind of a sucker for Shakespearean tragedies, though. I know many readers compare it to The Secret History, but I found it more akin to Pamela Dean's Tam Lin, what with the non-stop literary references and secrets and dramatic irony.

As a person who has gone through the conditional green card to the no-conditions green card to the now citizenship process, I completely relate. The process is both exciting and exhausting and the in-between place never really goes away. I would always think of myself as the permanent immigrant in both countries I now call home. I hope everything with your process goes well. Saul is a great lawyer after all :)

+Kay A Oh you did too! That's so great - how long have you been a citizen? Totally though, you describe it perfectly. Exciting and exhausting. Saul did me well today! We filed and now I just wait... Thanks so much for watching :)

Emigration immigration, times of loneliness, uncertainty and poetry... Two of my favourite books on the topic from two authors who are masters of intimate emotions: The Road Home by Rose Tremain, the very poignant story of a Polish immigrant in London; and Brooklyn by Colm Toibin (please ignore the movie, nice but not s scratch on the book!) for the aching poetry of loneliness

If you had to spend the rest of your life in one of the following 3 cities, which would it be & why: Paris, London, or Los Angeles? When does liminal end & subliminal begin? Aside: I think some of the coolest English words begin with sub- .

+TimeAndChance I think it would be London just because I grew up there and feel like I know it best, but man! That was a hard choice!
