@@shizachan8421 Yes!! Look up the computer generated “most attractive” person. There are two versions of each man and woman; one shows what the opposite gender thinks is attractive and what the same does. Makes me wonder if people attracted to men just do think what’s attractive in a man is different than what a man who likes women thinks.

@@simplicitylost For people who are straight there's probably a bit of "I find myself least attracted to this so it has to be attractive to others (when it isn't just malformity)". I don't really get it either myself though as I generally agree with women as well when it comes to men as I'm bi.

@@simplicitylost Oh yeah, there is a hugh difference between what straight men consider as ideal for themselves in terms of looks or other men and what women find attractive. You can also see this in quite a bit in media and what women are drawn to, with straight men leaning heavy towards hyper masculine roid hulks while female favs tend to lean heavily towards more lean, pretty faced guys. I played Final Fantasy XIV for quite a while and female players absolutely love the catboy and bunnyboy races, I think its one of the few games where I see women often play as male characters because the game successfully panders towards what they deem attractive with these races.

I got into Gerbert Johnson a while ago and his channel never really struck me as a grift to take advantage of incels. He says this in his reaction, but he's trying to identify widespread problems that zoomers are facing, which isn't necessarily whining or doomer-posting. He's not always right, but he is honest and his concerns are shared by a lot of people in our generation. I think it'd be interesting if you had him on to discuss this stuff, since there's a general difference in perspective between zoomers and millennials that I think you two could genuinely work out with a little dialogue.

I like vaush generally but he strawmans so hard when it comes to porn. 1) the argument that it’s a self report that you watch porn that’s made to objectify women is literally a braindead take - porn is literally designed and manipulated to hyper focus on certain body parts to appeal to the male gaze, the videos that get the most views do this all the time, it’s completely understandable that people who watch it frequently will objectify women 2) “all they want to do is enact violence against women” lol like I said, great strawman. He never mentioned violence, only objectification Vaush literally drops 100 IQ points when PMO is brought up because people with certain vices will go to extreme lengths to rationalize them. Doesn’t necessarily have to be a bad thing, but these are just poor arguments

Society itself seems to do everything to put men down while blaming them for almost every social problem to exist. Even with friends your still disconnected, life itself is shit. U cant just be “confident”, it simply doesnt work like that. Imagine blaming an autistic person for having social problems and telling them to “just be confident”, this is the same thing. People raised being stuck indoors spending most of their life on the internet are gonna be less connected and you cant just “go outside” because kids are no longer raised like that, it’s literally embedded into the system itself and is unavoidable

A cosplayer/con goer with some advice: I think that one comment about the cosplayers meeting up for a photo then dispersing as strangers can definitely be true. It's not enough to dress up and be there for the photo, I've done that and had the exact same post meetup, friendless walk away afterward. The meetup is more of an opportunity to start something than a garuntee. Compliment people on their outfits, ask for tips, ask where their coming here from, what got them into the series they cosplaying from. People love talking about themselves and they love talking about their interests so get the conversation rolling with questions and they do most the heavy lifting for you. Then if you're vibing, exchange instagrams/social medias (just as easy as texting but a lot less intimate) and try to ask if they're going to parties. I think if you're feeling vulnerable or nervous, just say that. Tell people straight up, "I'm trying to make friends". People generally respond well to that. But yeah don't just go expecting people to make the first move. A lot of them are just as lonely and awkward as you, so you gotta be the brave one

If nothing else, it gives you practice and a temporary companionship. How does following up with them go, though? Do you invite them out to go do other stuff? Generally, that's where I find those temporary friendships become a bit longer lasting. Invite them to go do similar stuff. Be real with them if it feels awkward, just be like "yeah I'm trying to make friends and get out more." Maybe if you made a sorta a temporary friend group, make a discord server. Then you can chat/plan/do online stuff in a chiller setting.

I don’t get how you can know what 20 “feels like”. You can’t. You can remember back to your own 20s once you pass them but you don’t know what your life will feel like until it happens and it happens in the moment. To even claim that a bunch of people in an entire generation are becoming depressed over unmet expectations they hallucinated is basically claiming they have mental illness. You don’t have infinite time, stop your worrying and do as much as you can and help along the way. That’s all anybody who seems happy is doing no matter their age or generation. So does he know and is just making the content as a grift or does he honestly think he was born with the “how being 20 feels” file already installed and reality stopped it from happening despite being old enough to know that’s not how it works? 🤷‍♂️

I don’t think Vaush fully understands what it’s like to be introverted + socially awkward and not confident, however his advice is far better than any incel advice. Meeting people can be really hard depending on where you are in life and your situation, especially if you don’t know what to do or where to look. However it seems to me once you find that social group it helps a lot. Ironically, many more queer social groups are really accepting of a range of expression, neurodivergence, etc. and would probably have everything many of these people are looking for in a community, it’s just that many of these more incel types would never be able to join and get along as they are now because of their ideological commitments, hatred/dislike/blame towards certain groups/people not like them, and other cultural/behavioral differences they have adopted.

@@El_No_SabeNot OP but am queer and they 100% will and do, frequently. There’s a reason tropes like ‘ the lesbian and her straight himbo best friend’ exists- queer people *will not* outright push you away *only* because you’re straight. (And if they do, it’s not by virtue of them being queer and more likely that they just suck ass and you’re dodging a bullet tbh) Like in my experience, when a queer group or individual meets a straight guy that’s like *normal* towards them, isn’t queerphobic, feels comfortable around them, isn’t awful to women, they will hold onto you like their life depends on it, I’m not even going to lie. Not to say like, oh they sit around opining that they need to invite a straight man into their fold, but more so it can be very *rare* and honestly lonely to feel unsafe around, or rejected by, non-queer people, whether purposefully or not. Yeah i was algorithmed into Gerbert as well, never Vaush though. I'd heard his name thrown around here and there but figured it was YT drama type stuff that I didn't really want to associate with. From my initial impression of the first response vid, Vaush seemed generally agreeable and giving decent advice, but there definitely was some excessive reactions over semantics or the general doomer-y vibe of the Gerb video. It was so weird coming out of watching it and feeling like I actually hadn't wasted my time, then looking at the comments and seeing everybody chanting a sentiment along the lines of "you're right, he's wrong and should kill himself." Idk if I'm just completely out of touch, but it seems that Gerbert has done a very good job of attracting a fanbase (myself included) , but has definitely roped in a lot of the more bitter incel personalities that perpetuate the stereotypes. I think that gerbert is doing what he feels is right and isn't just farming the hate of incels, but the topics that he discusses, regardless of his opinion on them, are bound to attract that type of person. I'd love to see them have a discussion about it, might clear some things up on both sides. At the end of the day, though, the very concept of having a channel/streaming platform dedicated to a certain genre or set of topics often leads to a lot bandwagoning and blind faith , due to having to continuously please your fanbase that you have cultivated.

HEY! There's a scientific reason we think our voices sound bad! When you're speaking, you hear your own voice exiting your mouth, and reverberating in your skull/inner ear, AND reflecting off the world around you. When you hear your voice in isolation from a recording, you're only hearing 1/3 of what you're used to hearing, so your brain thinks it sounds wrong. Same idea as when a person sees their face on camera VS in the mirror, because the mirror is always reflecting your face whereas the footage is your face as everyone else sees it. You don't sound bad, you don't look bad, your brain is just used to a self-centric perspective. Love yourself!

Imho it's more than just the tone itself. I guess my point is best explained with a second language. I'm german and when I think in english I do this without a trace of a german accent, but when I actually talk english I have the boldest german accent possible. While it isn't as drastic in german the principle is comparable. It's not just the tone that's different, everything is different, the rythm, the pronounciation, and so on. The worst part is that my actual voice sounds like a really dumb person to me. Don't get me wrong, it's not like there is a specific voice dumb people have, but that's somehow an association I instantly have in my head once I hear a recording of me. So it's not just like there are 2/3 of my voice missing, it's like everything changes completely.

I must be weird then, because I unironically like the sound of my voice in recordings. It sounds different, for sure, but I think it sounds nice and I like the idea that that's how people hear me. The voice I hear in my head isn't as nice sounding imo. Though I also don't listen to recordings of my voice very often so it might be the novelty that makes me like the sound better. I can definitely see how people in vaush's shoes might have a different perspective just from seeing and hearing themselves all the time. idk, maybe I'm just dealing with subconscious bias where I've come to like voices that sound similar to mine lol

I feel like "just be confidant" is like the self esteem version of saying "bro, why don't you just do it already? If that was me, things would have gone different". Clearly the solution is to be more confidant, but that type of advise fails to address that the solution is also the problem. Would showering and dressing well make them feel better? Probably. But it won't give them confidence and they know that, so instead of trying it and maybe feeling better about themselves they decide that it isn't the solution they're looking for so they just don't try it. I think a bigger part of the advice we give needs to be focused on the fact that none of what we say is a solution, but it can all help regardless. Will going for an hour long jog daily get you bitches. No. Will it give you something to do that stops your mind from going on the blackpill deathspiral? Yeah probably. Will it be more healthy than CoD or porn? Yeah definitely. Will it suck? For a bit, but whenever I've ran it always feels great until it starts to hurt, and then when I'm halfway recovered from being out of breath I want to run more, because it felt good. We also need to stress that just because the people you cosplayed with don't become your lifelong friends doesn't mean that the experience of meeting them wasn't worthwhile. There are a lot of people in my life who I will probably never see again, might have only talked to them like once, but I'll be forever glad I did meet. There was a girl in my senior English class who I never spoke to, barely knew her name. But when graduation came we where next to each other in line and we had a chat. It sounds crazy to say, but that one conversation with what was practically a stranger really meant a lot to me. Because I had told myself for years that I was a boring loser who couldn't talk, and she proved me wrong in an instant. She also told me to treat myself more like how I treated others. The simplest advice but it was good, I needed to hear that. I had always tried to be nice to others, to make sure they where alright, but I had never given myself that same priority. I though that to focus on myself was selfish, because I thought in 1D cartoon logic, but the truth was if I was a stranger I would immediately stop telling myself that I was a boring loser. Those small exchanges between strangers who will never meet again, matter. And you're lying to yourself if you say otherwise. You can never convince me, that my one encounter with the cashier at a store I went to twice, didn't matter. That the simple joy of understanding how my friend always seemed to hit it off with strangers, wasn't real. Maybe going to a convention won't make you any friends. So? Did you have fun? Did you make memories? Do you regret what happened, or are you just upset that it didn't bring you the magic solution you where looking for? I'm not like Vaush, I'm not this emotionally invincible super redditor with self esteem buried deep into my bones. I'm really a lot more like Gerbert when you get down to it, I've been where he is and I was there not long ago. All I did to change that, was get into a place in life where I felt satisfied to spend a few years in, and in that time I've realized that maybe that's all "having stuff figured out" is. Just a guy telling himself that we'll be alright, we don't know where we're going but no one ever has, and when we get their we can enjoy it for what it is instead of beating myself up for not getting here sooner. I really don't want to belittle anyone. I don't know your story just like you don't know mine. But I really hope that one day his fans can put this stuff behind them and realize that they where beating themselves up over nothing, and that's ok because it's over now. Will it be back? Probably, but the same enemy is never as tough the second time around. We didn't get here by going around the problem or moping about it, we went through it. We'll do it again, because that's what we do. Something something, the indomitable will of the human spirit.

"Would showering and dressing well make them feel better? Probably. But it won't give them confidence and they know that.." No! They think that, and they're wrong! Feeling better about yourself is the best thing for everyone in these situations. Even if they don't think it'll help.

@@Alexa-Raineo, he's right. Fake it till you make it advice is very impractical and short term line of thinking. Confidence comes from a concrete feeling of accomplishment and superiority over others which you can back up with real events and personal traits, at the very least in those aspects of life one has the most interest in. Getting really good at something one is passionate about to the point of being able to outcompete most other people is a far more solid and long term solution to aiding feelings of inadequacy. Dressing well is good and desirable but it is not a comprehensive solution to anything. Same with physical fitness, it's arguably a requirement to be a valuable and interesting individual but in of itself it does not mean much.

This is actually great because it shows that it comes down to the person not caring to do things for their own sake to the point that all of their decisions are contingent on the presence of other people. They don't have a solid or enduring sense of self or identity (aside perhaps from their current mental state) that allows them to find putting effort into those things justifiable. They lack a relationship with themselves such that their presence unto themselves would be enough to form a caring bond with themselves, so they remain stuck. This is why all of this practical advise doesn't work though and why in a way they are correct to regard it as "Chadvise" (i.e., out of touch or misplaced), even as the advise isn't in-itself wrong or incorrect in any way. What is needed is introspection as to the causes of one's cycle of behavior and its meaning within one's life trajectory

@soraneyorumi2017 11 ай бұрын
@Waawaaweewaa_ To be fair, I also don't particularly like hook-up culture or clubbing, so I understand this particular concern. I just don't personally see the height being a major factor. There is a lack of social structure for men who are more introverted or just finding themselves after high-school, that's true. I just think the types of narratives that religious or incel type people push are self-destructive. Like, for the incel types I think their behavior and outlook on dating and the importance of sex and like "sexual market place value" actually do more harm by corrupting their personalities and making them worse off to women than had they been themselves. I think the standards society has on men are kind of shitty, like, when I date men I don't expect them to be Chris Hemsworth or anything, but a lot of the incel types are like "I'm not literally the hottest man alive guess I'll minecraft myself". And for the religious people, I think it's the moral purity problem and a type of social alienation that isn't super talked about as we get more secular here in the states. I think that, especially for devout religious people, they limit their dating pool and potential life partner options by being too restrictive with who they consider. If you're a devout Muslim looking for another devout Muslim in the largely Christian US, you'll find you'll have a harder time finding someone of equal faith. I think that a lot of Christians are beginning to feel a similar discontent as we become more secular as a country, and they don't want to compromise on their ideals. I personally find nothing wrong with holding true to your beliefs, but I don't think complaining about an issue that is a product of your own mindset to be particularly helpful to an individual. I don't see height as an important factor, granted I'm not straight or a woman (probably), but the straight women I do know also don't seem to think height is an important factor. The most common factor to women, as far as I'm aware, is being funny or having an interesting personality. There are absolutely gremlin looking men out there with great relationships just because they have a sense of humor. I personally don't think I run into issues here because I'm pansexual and was raised with New York sarcasm for a sense of humor. I'd have to see like, research data on women's dating preferences. And I don't think I could rule out the simple answer of "Maybe women go for taller men because men are on average taller than women". And I'd have to consider what tall women think because like, ain't a 6'4 girlie finding anyone taller (for the most part). This could also be socially variable, the data I've seen from Japan suggest women preferring between 5'6 to 5'10 which, for Japan is fairly standard, "average to just above average". And all of this is structured as hypothetical ideals, not as "bitch is short he's toast". I'm pretty sure if you plot the heights of women and their partner's you'd see something approximating the normal curve aside from those people who are really into size difference.

vaush seems like he already made up his mind about gerbert and placed gerbert inside a box he could understand before he ever decided to watch gerbbys video. Then he instantly skipped half the video to dissect very specific fragments of media that he could easily argue against. He uses ad hominem attacks against gerbert as a person to make himself seem smarter and more insightful. It would be similar to pausing a song every 15 seconds to slander how the previous notes in the music was dog shit, instead of listening to the entire song to make a critique of the music.

Both Vaush and Gerbert seem to agree on almost everything regarding to the video but Vaush still calls him an incel on the tittle, and that predisposes everyone against him. Like genuenly id like Vaush so much more if he didnt call everyone he gets a bad impression of a nazi or an incel. It feels like he jumps to conclusions trough prejudice and stereotypes way too fast. This is trash advice just telling people to go outside won’t fix them being antisocial it makes it worse because you’ll get into more conversations and not have anything to say. The better advice is to talk about what you know be it video games, movies, sports, and hobbies. If a conversation is going in a direction where you have zero to talk about move it to something you do know about. I’d even argue the same I’d just shower most men products have a neutral smell or a bad one so instead use more nicer smelling products women will notice the smell.

I think a lot of those comments confuse the simplicity of vaush’s solutions with them being easy. They solution to male loneliness is simple, we know how to solve it, but it’s not always easy and it not being easy doesn’t mean you shouldn’t do it. I usually use darksouls combat as an example. When you boil it down, it’s pretty simple dodge or block when the enemy attacks, hit when they’re not attacking, but it’s still hard. I just see this tendency with incels I knew in real life too. There’s always a narrative they use to justify not improving at all.

we don't have splitscreen anymore because publishers decided they'd rather make everyone buy their own console, copy of the game and online subscription instead of letting more than one person play the game on a single consle at a time. People playing splitscreen probably aren't buying DLC or loot crates either, if they're even playing online. Its just publishers being greedy buttholes and not wanting to give players choices that don't funnel them into spending money on microtransactions, they don't want you doing anything that isn't in some way monetized.

The biggest issue I have with Vaush's (and Hasan's) "chadvice" segments is that they're always the most general "no shit" bunk. Like I absolutely understand the cynicism towards him in the comments. He literally shouts "Go outside" like he thinks that's being helpful. I doubt there are many people whose minds you're blowing by suggesting they socialize and make friends or get some exercise. Really the only _good_ advice someone in Vaush's position can give is to seek professional counsel because these issues always come from a very personal place and he is a distant stranger to everyone he's talking to. Not to mention he himself has stated that he's never even struggled with what he's giving "advice" about to begin with.
@Romanticoutlaw
@Romanticoutlaw Жыл бұрын
idk, I feel like at least part of it is people being unwilling to try to make those changes and still complaining anyway, and that seems to be 80% of what vaush rails against. But those people also probably just don't have the tools to try it without counseling, which imo should be one of the first pieces of advice given. Not that vaush thinks people _shouldn't_ get therapy, but whenever someone brings it up, he's like "no duh, that's too obvious to even mention". I think he's taking for granted the number of people who are resistant to trying or resuming therapy and is trying to give advice under the assumption the person tried therapy and it didn't work out

100% agree. The best advise they can give people is to stop looking for total strangers speaking to mass audiences at once to dole out advise to that audience as if it would be a fit for every individual in that audience. @@tonikukoc1451 you're missing the point, what I'm saying is that there is no secret formula to social dynamics, normal people are socialized since childhood and that is already a good advantage when it comes to creating social bonds. The problem with incels is that they can't accept that and think some father figure will have the holy Graal of making friends on a fucking KZfaq video. This is not rocket science, it is experience, the best advice are those so you are not immediately viewed as disgusting or deranged people, so not smelling bad is a first, dressing nice is the one that tailored advice comes into play more but sry I'm not a fashion KZfaqr but there are many great ones out there, and be nice is literally all you gotta do, weather you're trying to make new friends or score there's no advice in the world that will make you be attractive to every person, and when those guys advices don't work, these guys go on a depression spiral. I'm saying this from a place of someone that's not hot, doesn't have a six pack or anything, definitely not rich, and if I'm not going to parties still can hook up once a month, be it with people I already know or just dating apps in general, being straight forward with your intentions in a respectful and fun way also helps you out to not be disappointed or hurt other people's feelings as well. Is that good enough for you? Be safe dude, also get some tattoos that always bumps you up on the appearance side

@@leod5179 Thing is - in the head, you already have a visualisation of a guy that is watching these videos and you think simplified frameworks is where the potential solution lies. Noone of the youtube guys give advice - they just give frameworks. Like you too. shower, dress and "just be nice hehe" And this type of frameworks are washed, useless and comedic. You actually mentioned where the problem lies - which is lack of social conditioning through some period of growing up. And that is not a small problem. Solving that - is a rocket science! Think about it - reveresing a years of neglegance on the social conditioning. Add a layer of possible trauma + any underlying mental/physical condition. Does it sound to you like something easy to deal with? Most of these guys are aware - yes, if I shower, get a good clothes,, brush my teeth blablabla I will make myself presentable. But it is not problem of presentability. Often. It is lack of social conditioning to even approach a step of presentability. Most of them don't need solution or reminder to take 6th shower of the day. Most of them just need validation for the self realisation that things don't work in their life as they should.

Depends. Usually the way society is organized has made an increasingly large portion of the male population to develop into completely undesirable people who no sane human being will or should ever give them the time of day. This is what their lives will be and social factors like the integration of internet into the modern home, helicopter parenting, the demonization of male sociolization, etc, are mostly to blame. Equally the advent of dating apps does make it so women can consistently have sex with the minoirty of hyperattractive men and as time passes the standards for the bare minimum in these markets consistently increases to the point most men are exluded and these would be hardpress to look max at the rate tese standards increase. Those more average looking men will not be able to date their looks match however. This isn't nearly as prominent in the real world, but the ways people can organically meet are being eroded and have no future. It also doesn't help that men are actively socialized into being unbold and constantly paranoid of acting "innapropriate" which makes them utterly unnatractive since they cease to even take the bare minimum of initiative. Ironically men who are actually predatory are not detuered by these factors because they aren't beholdent to morality. You also see these men well represented in feminists circles too, a lot o the time arguing the whole conent bs while not following any of what they preach. Anyway the point of this story is that an increasingly large segment of the population will have to bear long life spans of 80 to 100 years of nearly constant self-loathing, impotence, and emptiness with no growth or purpose and this is entirely the fault of society and would not have happened to these people had they been born even a decade earlier. Their suffering will never be aknowledged and they will be chastised for their terrible lives and gaslit into thinking it's their own fault for benig failures until the death comes to cure them. This is is the future. Most will not fix themselves.
