The Incredible AWPer Cursed to Miss CS:GO’s Easiest Shots

Everyone misses their shots now and then.
Even the sharpest of shooters occasionally throw away free kills because of momentary lapses in concentration. But what if these events weren't just anomalies? And what if your erratic aim was so consistent that it became your trademark?
Well, in the unfortunate case of a certain CS:GO player, that’s exactly what happened...

well kind of, what i think he is doing is actually focusing his eyes too much on his target, to the point that he isn't keeping track of his actual crosshair. this is great for flicks because you are going to be able to track enemies much better in corners of your screen and away from your crosshair, but is terrible for easy shots where the target is already in the center of your screen. he should use a monitor with eye-tracking to see what's really going on

@@opencasketfacelift On 0.25x you can see that he actually missed. You can argue that he hit the model, even if barely, but remember that the hit box doesn't and shouldn't cover the entire player model (cause clothing and armor, at least around the abdomen where clothing tends to fold and stick out). Also, even if for some reason the hit box covered that bit of the player model, it's still an awful shot, at that distance and enemy's movement speed he should've been able to hit the center of enemy's body easily.

I feel like he's just anticipating movement a lot of the time. Some times he gets CSGOd. And sometimes he moves as he shoots. None of it seems to be because it's not where his attention is.
@sEaNoYeAh
@sEaNoYeAh 4 жыл бұрын
Well attention isn't just about things you notice or not or whatever, it's also to do with how much focus you put into the thing you're doing. It's like when someone in traditional sports misses an easy pass because their mind is already on what comes next, and they're not giving due attention to the easy action in the moment. I think he's guilty of something in that kind of ball park.
@thechannelitrollwith1645
@thechannelitrollwith1645 4 жыл бұрын
GhostSamurai I can definitely agree with that. I felt like that’s not the aspect of attention they were referencing here but it definitely would fall under that category.
@JazzRadioFfm
@JazzRadioFfm 3 жыл бұрын
I think so too. Also, I believe there is a certain "action potential" in his shot, meaning that he's conditioned to move something before he fires. If there's nothing to move crosshair-wise, he tends to initiate the post-shot routine a tad earlier, which leads to moving-inaccuracy and missing seemingly easy shots. Just my 2 cents.

honestly- those esports psychologists are trying WAY too hard to read into this and come up with a fancy explanation. i think he just likes to make flashier shots, and that's why he always flicks, even for something in that '30-degree window.' you're totally right.
@arnavrawat9864

That was probably him getting scared, panicking and making a jerky shot thus missing. The reason imo is that he never trained right. He developed a specific play style and just used it and used it and became world class in that. The unfortunate thing was that his playstyle doesn't support all situations.

LostKnight just recently saw a summery of a game between s1mple team and draken team (maybe a fpl game) with both of them having more then 70 kills (after 2 or 3 OTs). He seemed to be on a level IN THAT particular game, so I wouldnt write this boy off aswell. If he likes the game, theres no other way as that he will get better, learn from past mistakes, finetune his settings, sensitivity, etc. i dont know how many hours of cs draken has, but lately saw s1mple having 16k on his one steam acc. alone, and i think draken has less. To sum it up, flashy titel and video about a player, who struggled. But to one, who is determined to keep going and does not accept a past failure as a defeat, will come back even better, and win better, when a new kind of test scenario arrives. Let's see how this is unfolding. Cheers ;-)

Mate, s1mple is crazy against the best teams in the world, Draken is crazy when hes online, or when he's playing against lesser opposition. Theres no point in hitting the insane flicks if you cant hit the easy shots consistently. If you actually think draken could ever make s1mple sweat, you know absolutely nothing about CS. Theres a reason draken has faded into complete obscurity, he was the worst player on that Fnatic lineup, and the worst or 2nd worst player on the NiP lineup towards the end of his tenure there. If he was as good as you think he is, he wouldn't have been playing on Gamerlegion xD

@@amit4rou this starts to happens when you’re newer to the game, so your aim is inconsistent. As you go on, it becomes increasingly clear which type of player you are. Usually flashy players like old Maikelele/JW/KennyS also missed a lot of shots and performed badly but they also had games when they went lights out and were pretty much untouchable. This is more evident in awpers as we only have one shot to hit or miss

Getting "CSGO'd" is just an excuse 99% of the time. Sometimes there's a mismatch between client and server sides which makes shots appear to go in a different place, but in general most of these misses happened due to his own mistakes. Either not properly counter-strafing or doing this weird flick he does that makes him barely miss the model.

My theory (not that it has any more validity then anyone else’s) is that Draken has 2 big things he needs to work on to hit more shots 1. This is the biggest one. He needs to work on his strafe timing. A lot of those whiffs would’ve been hits if he wasn’t still moving when he fired. It’s actually quite a common problem midlevel awpers face. It’s just a lot less common with the best awper’s in the game since it’s normally a skill they were forced to hone a long time ago. Midlevel awper have often trained their reaction time enough that it is no faster than the average strafe. This forces the awper to have to adjust their whole way of playing to accommodate their movement. 2. Trigger discipline. Just because there is an enemy on your screen doesn’t mean you have to kill that enemy as quickly as possible. Many of those shots were shots where he had the upper hand and could’ve easily taken the time to line up his shots, but because he just tries to flick it so fast he gambled on a shot he could’ve had for free if he waited

I mean the two experts pretty much summed up what a lot of us players already knew. That there are way too many angles to focus on and some players focus on the peripheral more as they are naturally more paranoid of their exposed flanks. So when an enemy comes up infront of them they tend to take a bit longer to react and are less accurate when shooting. KennyS had the same problem back around 2015 when he went like 3-23 in the finals of one of the majors. His poor performance was a major factor in them losing.

Draken tends to move right before he shoots, making the shots inaccurate (as if hes still stuck in the pre-nerf AWP days). He also seems to quick switch (QQ) every single time he shoots, which can be a bad habit and maybe his body is too focused on being ready to QQ rather than hitting the shot. Both things he can improve on, but only if he himself notices it.

Like it’s said towards the end, honesty is the best way to get better at a game. Being a halo player, I have to isolate things I’m bad at sand focus on those things individually. I like this dudes story because I hit nasty stuff sometimes but I just have times where I miss critical shots. I’m still trying to fix that problem to this day. Though it might be because of pressure. I could see Drakan being on a better team and having to think constantly about making them proud. That might get in the way of his game.
