Ah yes, Wolverine. I'm gonna avoid bringing up anything that's happened regarding writing in recent years, and instead talk about something else dumb about Wolverine lately: The fact that the writers seem to forget that he's, well, 5'3''. Seriously, they've tried to show him as the same height as Cyclops, maybe a tiny bit shorter...except Cyclops is 6'3'' and Wolvy is 5'3'', meaning that any time they want to have Logan glare down Cyclops, it comes across as laughable because it would mean that, off panel, he had to grab a stool or step ladder just to get to the same height. I honestly just imagine Wolverine carrying a step ladder around with him /just/ to glare down Cyclops if the opportunity arose, given his hate boner for the guy. I can just imagine Cyke letting it happen because it really undercuts Wolvy's attempt at looking menacing and instead makes him look adorable. Wolverine is the best there is at what he does, except for trying to stare down Cyclops.

But I thought his first appearance was in Marville #5. You know, when we found out that he was the first human being (despite the fact that there just happened to be an entire clan of humans when they left the time machine). Cleary Linkara, you forgot to due your research Linkara. For shame.

Ok, I have a confession. When Linkara gives that grin after a terrible joke or alliteration, my heart melts. So adorable

Actually, the whole Wendigo thing had been a recurring theme through this run of the Hulk before this number. The reason they say George is guilty of Marie's brother state, is that it was his idea to go to hunt on winter, and that got her brother, George and another guy trapped into a cave. The third guy died of freezing, and when the provisions started running low... Marie's brother turned to cannibalism, and that was triggered the curse and his transformation into the Wendigo. But blaming George would also be unfair, because the only reason he survived that experience, is that the Wendigo wanted to keep him warm with his own body to eat later, once the storm had passed. He got lucky the Hulk stumbled upon the cave just at that moment after Marie and the villagers asked for his help. At least that's how I remember it. I read it a long time ago. Might have got some details wrong, but that's the basic of it.

The whole "evolved animal Wolverine" sounds like SUCH a Chris Claremont idea...

*Fun fact:* Once Georges was cured, he was immediately arrested for all the deaths he caused as the Windego since he volunteered to accept the curse. It was nice to show consequences actually happening which Marvel is sorely lacking these days. Blackbolt is guilty of negligent homicide for all the Mutant deaths by releasing the Terrigen Mists just like Scarlet Witch is guilty of killing people on M-Day yet they have never been brought before a judge and whenever someone mentions it, they act indigent like they've already suffered enough.

This is ridiculous... Everyone KNOWS that Wolverine was the first human, and that he was descended from an otter. I love how polite Wolverine is when fighting the Hulk. Canadian through and through. lol "The first appearance of DEADPOOL." Oh my, what a glorious let-down THIS will be! ^_^

Just at the title sequence: putting an unstoppable spirit of cannibalism into an unstoppable rage monster? What could possibly go wrong? Do you want Marvel Zombies? Because this is how you get Marvel Zombies?

Huh. You know in the show Wolverine and the X Men there's an episode where Nick Fury blackmails Wolverine to hunt down the Hulk and they end up fighting a Wendigo (which was revealed to be created by S.H.E.I.L.D). Pretty sure that episode is ,meant to be a homage to this book.

Yeah, the reason why Wolverine's claws couldn't cut Hulk's skin is because 1) comics at the time were a lot less gory and 2) Wolverine's earliest appearances have him depicted as significantly weaker than his more modern portrayals. In his early days, Wolverine couldn't cut Hulk's skin and was even hospitalised for weeks from injuries while nowadays Logan has no issue stabbing the Hulk's flesh and his healing factor is so fast he almost never goes to the hospital.

didn't they adapt this story for wolverine and the X men, where the wedigo is a creation of sheild that they lost control of, so Wolvey and the hulk have to stop it. Good show wish it had continured.

Why is it that when he mentioned Captain Canuck, my first thought went to Captain Tax Time...

This storyline (including the issue before it) would make for an awesome MCU film set before Hulk joined the Avengers. All it needs is a climax of both Wolverine and Hulk joining forces against the escaped Georges-Wendigo, whose death can be a sad scene. Wolverine ends up unconcious and taken by the goverment (thus explaining why he didn't appear in future movies until after Endgame) and Dr. Banner sets off to India where Natasha will find him in Avengers. BTW, didn't The Incredible Hulk film end in a Canadian forest already? The scenario is set. They can even explain the recast using plastic surgery or as an effect of the Hulk himself twisting Banner's face.

That joke about Logan being on too many teams was actually even addressed by Jason Aaron in his Wolverine run. At the time Logan was on the New Avengers, X-Men and X-Force, while also having two ongoings of his own and I think this lasted almost up until his death. So... yeah, not surprised Aaron wrote a story where Spider-Man just wants to sit down and talk to Logan about him burning out. Was a good story though.

I have found that when reading any comic with Wolverine in it, if I read his voice as Wayne from Letterkenny, it makes the dialogue that much better

Fun fact about the Wendigo(at least this one), in a later X-Men issue he reappears and Wolverine subdues him again which opens the way for Shaman to cure him(he gets arrested though because he knowingly became the Wendigo)

As a little Canadian history moment when Linkara is reviewing the previous issue the narration specifically calls the tracking station as belonging to the RCAF (Royal Canadian Air Force). However thanks to the Unification of Canada’s service branches into the CAF in 1968 (which was just a few years ago at the time this was printed) the Air Force was officially called Air Command or AIRCOM. It wouldn’t officially be called the RCAF again until 2011.

Well the fact that the plot is happening to the hulk is not a problem in itself. It's actually a trope that some stories just stumble upon a character that wasn't looking for it (the big lebowski being the most famous example)

It saddens me to think that a lot of writers have to choose between making Cyclops or Wolverine look bad in the X Men books.
