Are you serious? He is lauded over on the internet. Everyone talks about how fantastic Tesla was and his list of inventions seems to increase even after his death. I've even heard claims that he helped invent computers. Hundreds of books have been published about him. Physics teachers that teach Electricity and Magnetism love talking about him. He was a superb mind and he is rightly if not overly recognized for his contributions.

martinshoosterman If Hitler hadn't been elected, some other psychopath would've come to power in his place. The German people had just lost WW1, and because of that were saddled with more debt than could possibly have been paid off, and were (are) a remarkably disciplined and industrious group, generally speaking. Basicaly, all the building blocks for Nazi Germany were there waiting to be taken advantage of whether or not Hitler ended up existing and being the one to do it, or not. Tesla was a one-of-a-kind genius that might have given us unlimited free power in the 50's, and would have definitely sped up humanity's technological advancement by a few decades at least. It's apples and oranges, really.

Aric England Im not saying he was the first, nor did he invent anything. He simply perfected everything. Yes it is true, he was probably in the most perfect time in history to do what he did, but that doesnt mean that just anyone could do it.

I wasn't saying just anyone could've risen to power, only that Hitler wasn't the only one that could've unified the country, specifically in contrast to Tesla, who was a unique type of genius that the world rarely sees.

***** eh... the prestige (although a good movie) featured Nikola Tesla as a minor character. One might say that the movie wouldn't exist without him as he invented the dues ex machina, but that's like saying that Pulp Fiction was about whatever was in the case (res dogs diamonds, Wallace's soul, the second season of 'firefly', whatever). I want to see a movie about the man who changed the world, not a movie that just mentions him in passing.

It's a shame what happened to the guy, he could have accomplished so much more with his life. His story is both inspirational and tragic. When I hear stories like this and stories of how close many widely regarded masterpieces were to not being published, it makes me wonder how many other geniuses there are out there that never got the recognition they deserved, and how their potential accomplishments were held back.

THANK YOU SO MUCH for doing an episode on Nikola Tesla! I only heard Tesla's name for the first time about a year ago. He sounded interesting, so I did some research that shocked me beyond words. How could I never have heard of someone so amazing, whose inventions I used every single day? Since then, I've been trying to tell my school about Tesla. Three projects across various subjects, an extra credit poster, and a five page paper about Tesla later, my friends know a bit about him. The Forgotten Genius is not so forgotten any more; he is being rediscovered by the very world he helped shape. Several Tesla Quotes: "I don't care that they stole my idea. I care that they don't have any of their own." "Let the future tell the truth, and evaluate each one according to his work and accomplishments. The present if theirs; the future, for which I have really worked, is mine." "I will not be known by today, but one day men will look back and say I gave power to the modern world." Also, to give you an idea of how smart Tesla was, look at this: Einstein was once asked how it felt to be the smartest man alive. His reply was, "I don't know, you'll have to ask Nikola Tesla."

Also,an interesting fact about Tesla was that he actually had a dream when he was 17 in Serbia that he would one day harness the power of Niagra falls to power an exhibition. This came true when he used the power for the worlds first electricity expo show, and just before the show, for which he won the contract ,the Edison company, the makers of the lightbulbs he was going to use, refused to let him use their bulbs,so he had to invent his own,he did just in time and the show went on to be a roaring success.

All to stop him from supplying free energy to the world (and for several other reasons I'm sure, it's how genius is treated and it's sad). He also came up with the idea of manipulating weather via frequencies. Government then earnestly began trying to do the same, but in much more harmful ways that ended up lowering overal ozone by 4%.

As a Serb, greatly proud of our Serbian and one of the world's greatest minds to ever live, without whom the world would be maybe centuries behind, I am very grateful SciShow did this video. But, I couldn't help but notice the undermining tone and attitude that was underlying the whole video. He was too generous with the word 'crazy' that almost felt like 'idiotic' at some point. He acts as one of those people who due to not understanding some of his ideas, renders him crazy, which shouldn happen since the speaker is a man of science as well, in some way and therefore should have greater understanding and acceptance of people ahead of their age. He also failed to stress out the altruistic and humane nature of Tesla. He actually ridicules it. Tesla's humility and absence of pride for someone of that success is something that should be largely appreciated, since is soo rare amongst people of that description, like Edison. Thank you for doing this video but Tesla is unbelievably much more than you mentioned in this video, both as ingenious inventor and Human above all.

That boy said some very incorrect informations about Mr.Tesla and some rather shallow remarks about this truly great mind.. I mean I understand teens today like to watch some laid back. cool, funny and dynamic vids while learning something they are interested in but making false or even ironic statements which Tesla never said and was never part of just to be Funny/cool is Tabloid journalism rather then smart or "cool". I will not go trough all of them but just to mention couple which I would be ashamed of to say about Tesla in any context: - Tesla did NOT report recieving ANY messages from ET's EVER but the journalists (much like you probably) greedy for sensationalism took his statement out of context in which he was speaking about mere feedback radio signal from Mars which he 'echoed', the journalists added ET's and all the shabang. - Morgan did not pull the (financial) plug because it was more expensive then Tesla first told him it would be but because he was cunning enough to realise he wont be able to put a meter on energy available to everybody anywhere in infinite amounts, which was the ultimate idea of the "bonus" or additional purpose of Long Island project. - Tesla was NOT living in fancy hotels nor he was living any kind of posh life.style until very late, he was digging ditches, working Labour and bearly surviving for big chunk of time till Westingouse agreed to invest in his first lab. - and so on and so on... SacredFire yes yes but what is "just plain not true" I live in capitalism and have lived in few different systems since late 70's, I have no idea what are you mumbling about ? I Idolise who ? Tesla ? Why would I idolise anybody ? Besides it had nothing to do with politics or media, I am just tired of people which speak about subjects they dont know much about.. Next time tell me more precisely which part I stated is "just not true" plesae, otherwise go read a book about Tesla or at least watch something properly and genuine about his life.

Mihajlo Filipovic You are giving examples of rather hateful people, and yet you yourself are being quite hateful towards fellow humans who have done you no harm. Yes the people you mentioned were evil, but they were human like you and I, and if they had been brought up differently, or in different cultures, perhaps they would have turned out very differently. They are also the odd ones out; most people aren't tyrants and just because they follow a different religion, live in a different country or culture doesn't mean you should be hateful towards them. In fact, you are putting yourself much closer to Hitler: he did the exact same thing; hating on other religions, races and people for no real reason.

Imagine flying tanks, warships, cannons, self-driving explosive devices, air strike against a city without a need to even launch a plane. Death by a touch of a button on your smartphone. agreed.. didnt care for the statement that Tesla claimed to receive messages from aliens .. in fact that came from the ignorance of the people of the time not understanding that he was referring to the fact that celestial objects such as pulsars, stars, and planets emit radio waves that can be picked up and measured. bringing about the concept for radio telescopes. the ignorant people at the time only knew radio waves that carried a persons voice or music and when Tesla made the claim that radio waves coming from space could be measured the people thought he was delusional and thought he meant aliens were talking to him.. as for Tesla's lab catching on fire. there was great speculation that it was Edison's henchmen who set the fired burning it to the ground. there was and still is great competition in science and Edison was willing to do just about anything to discredit or set back Tesla. even to the point of Edison putting on great spectacles in town squares where they would electrocute a cow right before the crowd claiming that was how dangerous Tesla's alternating current was.. As for his death ray .. Tesla realized that there was an enormous amount of energy up in the outer most atmosphere of the earth . he knew that if he relayed a signal from one station bouncing it off the ionosphere ( earths outer most atmosphere) the signal would pick up energy as it traveled to a second station . that station in return would shoot the signal back to the first which again made it more powerful as it bounced off the ionosphere picking up more energy. he then realized that if it built up and then was bounced to a point were there was not a receiving station the result would be similar to a lightning strike sever thousand times stronger. he did not want to design a weapon so he burred it .. The shield that the guy in the video spoke of was once again a defense mechanism that Tesla came up with .. this used a series or an array of antennas which in some way pulls down the ionosphere creating a shield effect .. but when he realized that this had a detrimental effect on the environment . he buried this one as well. when he died the U.S. government seized all of Tesla's patients and sent most of them to his former country or his country of origin.. as for the shield those interested look up something called HARRP radio station.. I have read many of biographies on him due to my fascination with one of the worlds brightest minds of all time .

I gave this video a thumbs down because I do not like this video for a number of reasons. Nikola Tesla was one of the greatest minds throughout all history and if not, THE greatest mind throughout all history. A true genius in the sense of humbleness, philanthropy, and pure generosity(and not to mention brilliance). He had no personal interest for money, only for his research. This video portrays Tesla in a provocative, scrutinizing manner and as a nut; which he most certainly was not. He had gift of wisdom and awareness beyond human perception and because of this gift he was perceived as absurd or crazy. Therefore the provocative manner in which Tesla is portrayed in this video only shows to me the author is misinformed, ignorant and has no competency in the subject. The author is almost insecure in which he used the popular assumption that a man as enlighten as Tesla was crazy. Just because the man liked pigeons and had ideas that seemed almost ludicrous to society does not mean that he should be regarded as insane and certainly not absurd. I have absolutely no respect for anyone that thinks as ignorantly as this. There are some fallacies in this video as well. Tesla told J.P. Morgan that the wireless energy would be free for anyone and everyone to use. So the selfish, narcissistic Morgan defunded Tesla immediately rendering his work meaningless. If Morgan had not been selfish, not only to Tesla, but the world, we would all have a free, infinite source of energy for all to use. In conclusion, Tesla did not care about money, he did not even give much consideration to himself, he only cared for the fate of humanity. He looked to others who cared for money as ignorant and greedy. We should all aspire to have the mentality of this enlightened man.

Tesla also lived in celibate his whole life... for reasons that dissatisfy me as a woman, as I want to think that I could do more than just inspire. Here's a quote: "I had always thought of woman as possessing those delicate qualities of mind and soul that made her in these respects far superior to man. I had put her on a lofty pedestal, figuratively speaking, and ranked her in certain important attributes considerably higher than man. I worshiped at the feet of the creature I had raised to this height, and, like every true worshiper, I felt myself unworthy of the object of my worship. But all this was in the past. Now the soft-voiced gentle woman of my reverent worship has all but vanished. In her place has come the woman who thinks that her chief success in life lies in making herself as much as possible like man--in dress, voice and actions, in sports and achievements of every kind."

"When wireless is fully applied the earth will be converted into a huge brain capable of response in every one of its parts." .. so basically the internet? So we could have had the internet nearly a hundred years ago?

From Epic Rap Battles of History: Nikola Tesla vs Thomas Edison I see a universe of infinite energy, but no potential for threat from this enemy, so you can call me Tesla, Nikola. Impeccably dressed. Giving lessons in electrical nemesis will be on the test. So confess to your thefts, and let the whole world know what the Serbian did for the Wizard of Menlo. History is getting rewritten and I have reddit. Your best invention was a way to steal credit! You fool! You think you can touch me with this? You couldn't handle my gifts with your greedy little mind! What's inside mine was ahead of its own time. You did not steal from me, you stole me from mankind! It's a wireless transmission of truth and it's a shocking real story of a banker and you, and if the people knew you stopped me from making power free, they would curse the con Edison with every utility! Obviously, he won that battle. I do curse that con Edison.

***** i recently posted this in on another feed , this should explain. if you don't agree , oh well. I am quite sure time will tell . enjoy. Its all about the application of logic . A couple of days ago someone commented on something that was in my google stream , that was related to Tesla. The person posted: [ "Free unlimited power" there is no such thing. ] The first law of thermodynamics is a version of the law of conservation of energy, adapted for thermodynamic systems. The law of conservation of energy states that the total energy of an isolated system is constant; energy can be transformed from one form to another, but cannot be created or destroyed. Just for the record without free unlimited power , the universe and everything in it would never have existed. Everything you see feel and hear is a direct result of free unlimited power. Just because greedy and nefarious folks of our world have decided to monopolize , withhold and yes force everyone to pay does not mean that energy in its natural form is not free and unlimited. -the earth turns -the sun shines -the galaxy turns -stars are born live and die and form more stars. -the process is infinite and continuous. it has been this way for at least 13 billion years. so far as perpetual motions goes i think 13 billion years is pretty perpetual and if the universe only lasts another 100 trillion years ( estimate if cold death or big crunch happen - neither of which i believe in as such) 113 trillion years of stellar formation and motion is as perpetual as you can get. So when folks tell you that energy is not free and unlimited or that perpetual motion is impossible; just think about the universe you live in.
@LennyHirsch

Pietro Cappello I won't argue with you on your point that it should be free - I completely agree with that - energy should not belong to any given person. However, energy is definitely not unlimited and perpetual motion is not possible. If you thought about the universe we live in, you would realise this. 13 billion years is not perpetual, nor is 113 trillion years, no amount of time is, because the very definition of perpetual motion is that it NEVER ENDS. And if we did have unlimited energy, the universe would go to shit! Everything would be so ridiculously energetic that nothing could form as we know it; everything would be unbelievably hot and moving at huge velocities all the time. The Laws of Thermodynamics have never broken down: energy is constant and finite.

nope not accurate , sorry. also keep in mind you are anchoring your assumption on the notion that 20 century cosmology is correct, which has no factual evidence to corroborate it. just math. The universe is infinite . I know this through my studies and through the application of logic. However my ideas are not alone and 21 century physics now agree that a big bang scenario is really not likely since the math breaks down when you apply it to a singularity scenario as well as the fact that the cosmic background radiation and gravitational waves that should have been left behind are now known to be the result of interstellar dust. see: www.salon.com/2015/02/12/everything_we_know_about_the_big_bang_could_be_wrong_partner/ keep in mind this is not the only article. I honestly hope that you follow some of the ideas that i presented and i hope it leads you to some new ideas that will work in all contexts , not the least of which is the idea of infinite free energy. be well :)
