That is amazing, that you bagged the books as you went thru them, really cool to preserve them regardless of where the books ended up, Bravo! Whenever I go thru Books with no back boards and the original sleeves since the Golden Age, it pains me to see the books treated that way.

The honorable thing to do would be cut them in for a % and flat rate up front. They will likely pay the auction house more in fees (if they arent waved) than this persons family.

Is the collection going to be considered for pedigree status due to the depth & original ownership?

They mentioned the grades of the books weren’t high enough to qualify. But they are naming the collection on the label, it just doesn’t get the gold/black.

Of the stories of huge collection purchases, there's never any discussion of the price, or even the percentage that the buyer is offering!?.. That would be very helpful. I am a buyer of collections myself and I always offer TWO prices. #1 the price for the books that I would like, which is always a higher percentage somewhere between 40 and 60% of registered and official SOLD prices. #2 is a price I offer is for the entire collection, but I carefully and honestly explain to the seller, "look 90% of this stuff has little to no monetary value and will take more effort and time for me to sell then it is worth" "however I will present you with a two options (the second option is some thing that no other buyer will even tell you because most are honestly unaware and that was it I won't tell you). You can donate these books to a 501 C3 registered charity and get full retail right off prices off of your taxes, (PLUS you'll save all of the time and effort listing these books and trying to sell them, and most of them will not sell for more than $.50 a book) OR! "If you prefer cash I can offer you… ' and then I make an offer that is very low because I really don't want the books but will donate them to charity myself, and or, give them away for free to winners of our daily online auctions lol- BRIAN6 on Whatnot , Card_And_Comic_Investments on eBay

, Finding a collection all the way over there from California and then asking for money to buy it? More like doing the work for someone else and taking credit lol Stop the cap and tell the truth, your just consignors
