Not really. H-41 had armour that would make Yamato look weak. :P 200mm thick armoured deck for both the magazines and machinery and a turtleback system around it with a 175mm thick slope instead of 150mm. Then the same 300mm thick belt and 50mm thick weatherdeck (80mm for the magazines) of the H-39. That will flatout stop just about anything. Further the torpedo defence was seriously improved. The 420mm guns where created because the Germans made the barrels for the 406mm guns to thick. It turned out you could bore them out to 420mm without issues. Further the turrets could also accommodate the larger shells without problems so the Germans planned 420mm guns. That is why you can use two guns with one turretdesign. WG basically did there homework on this one and gave the 420mm guns as an option. H-41 would have been kinda meh at T10 in gunpower while totally insane in armour. It would have worked but probably not as well as this imagined ship.

Just got my Friedrich so came back to this video to decide on the build I would use. Seems to me that all those 3 builds: stealth, AA and secondary, are all pretty viable. I guess it's up to your preference. I decided to go the aa build first since I have already used secondary build on Bismarck and stealth on Tirpitz. In all builds you gain something and lose something. Always tradeoffs. You get to about 15 km concealment iirc without CE which is not very good by any means but serviceable on a high tier battleship imo. A secondary build Bismarck has 14.3 km concealment.

Tested them both, found the flat out increase in shells per minute to be more beneficial than the reduced dispersion, especially when getting close range.

Flamu describes himself as "Retardedly aggressive". He always get as close as he can like a badass, so he doesnt need the accuracy to fix the dispersion for long range sniping. Up close if u can reload faster it is a significant advantage. Pumping out more dps with the reload module is ofc, an advantage In my opinion, the aiming system module for that dispersion reduction is pretty much...insignificant. Because this game is ruled by RNGESUS, if u slap on that reload mod u get the reduce reload time 100%, RNGESUS cant mess u up on that! Sometimes u sacrifice goats, money, blood and shet but u still get shit dispersion with that aiming system module anyway :(

Not to mention that the dispersion decrease is actually not translating well into the game at all. The Shells will still disperse well above and below waterline and left/right to citadels areas. So you gain nothing really. 12 extra shells are 12 chances more to hit the target hard.

That actually makes a lot of sense. So as for the Iowa that has only 9 shells instead of 12, would the reload module still be more viable?

SvenStandsReady Yes, iowa has already good shell dispersion. so more of the already good shells is better than "the same number of slightly better" shells. + Iowa's concealment (if you spec for it) gives you the chance to get closer anyway, so your dispersion matters less. Nothing like winning the knive fight with a yamato because you fired first. Oh, and for yamato the same bascially applies: the guns are already good. Marginal increases do not matter in the terms of "game feels". Its just that yama is not concealable and people realy get scared of being shot at at t10 so most peopel will tr to maximize their chances for those unicorn 30km citadels... instead of just driving up to some mofo and slamming his face off. BTW: yamato turret traverse does not get that much worse with the relaod upgrade. It was shiite before, tis shitte after. Consider it a warspite, but with trolltastic guns. And armor. And speed. And range. And a secondary battery that is decent as well.....

Don't forget hydro. But I think it's a bit strange that people talk about the weak torpedo belt on it when it has a torp reduction of 25%.. the Iowa has 25% has as well and only the Izumo has 28%. No T9 BB has a 'good' torp belt. It's only at T10 they gain massive reductions while the Grosser Kurfurst gets left behind.

Distance (from time of release and length of time in game) make people forget. If the Kurfurst had as good AA and secondaries/hydro (cannot recall if it does) would that be more helpful than the HP buff it got prior to release?

50% extra firepower matters A LOT, so does 20k HP pool. Montana is such a huge jump from Iowa with her much improved survivability and firepower, and the only reason she's in a tough spot is Yamato being in a whole other league compared to the Izumo.

Kai-Xuan Yao Problem is the Kurfurst is also ungainly large. Yes the firepower is nice but the damn size means every single shell despite bad RNG & dispersion will still land on you instead. Also the German BBs has weaker AA than Yamato & much weaker than Montana, so when a Hakuryu or Midway is lining up for a bomb or torp run, you'd wish you were in a smaller Friedrich than the Kurfurst.

Angled Citadel armor that meant side-on shots didn't penetrate through to the Citadel, and deflected off instead. Germans believed in close in battles between artillery ships and designed accordingly.

+tamenga88 I could have swore that it was a 16 inch shell from the King George V that penetrated the command room, and the concussion/fragmentation destroyed the fire control systems. I could be wrong.

It was a 16" salvo from the Rodney which hit the the main armored bridge, killed Captain Lindemann and Admiral Lütjens and in the process also destroyed the main fire director tower and disabled 1 or 2 of the forward turrets(can't remember exactly). Fire control then switched to the smaller rear director tower which was soon put out of action by shell hits as well, with the remaining main gun turrets then switching to their own local rangefinders until, after about half an hour, all her main guns had been knocked out. All of the components I just named are situated above the citadel in ANY Battleship, and having an armor scheme like the Iowa/South Dakota/North Carolina classes would not have prevented any of the damage that was done to the Bismarck in her last fight. Especially not because Bismarck wasn't even able to steer or hold course, and she was also listing to port, all of which significantly impaired her ability to fire accurately and all of which were results of the previous actions, not the final "battle". However, the Turtleback scheme resulted in Bismarck still having functioning engines, despite her upper works being almost completely destroyed. Of course, that didn't do her much good because of the crippled rudder. Any Battleship with similar protection levels but a non-turtleback armor scheme would have started sinking much earlier... which ironicly may have saved the lives of more of the crew, in the end. There is no need to pound an already sinking ship into scrap metal, like Rodney, KGV, Norfolk, Dorsetshire(which, contrary to what tamenga88 said, didn't even get involved in the fight until Bismarcks main guns were out of action!) and the escorting destroyers did. Anyway... the main weaknesses of a turtleback armor scheme are the vulnerability to long range plunging fire and that the main armored deck has to be lower above the waterline leading to *less space protected from flooding by the citadel*, which can be mitigated to some extend by strict internal compartmentalisation(lots of small sections which can be closed off in case of flooding). Thinking about it... the german BBs in WoWS have low torpedo damage reduction, but I've actually never seen a torpedo hit cause flooding to them in any of the videos I've watched so far... mhmm.... O_o

Yeah, the intense compartmentalization of these hulls should certainly increase torpedo protection.

No ship gets too keep its secondary range and main turret range, both are nerved for the game. For instance Bismarcks 150mm secondaries had 23 km range and a main gun range of 36 km. This is like that with many ships. And also almost all cruisers had torpedoes like the Dresden for instance and the Hood too. The Hood could either launch 15km slow torps or 8km fast ones. So yeah it would be cool if the ships had realistic ranges and armaments but then the maps would have to be way bigger and the battles way longer for you to even get into close range. So they would have to change lots.

Which I would love, 40km main guns and 20 km secondaries with 1 hour long matches on big maps :)

He played two or three games in the Gneisenau in his stream yesterday, then skipped her with free xp and sold the ship.Which is something I can totally understand, after the awesome Bayern, the Gneisenau feels like a downgrade. It has a shitty dispersion but lacks the amount of guns to make up for it. In my opinion, the Gneisenau is definitely the black sheep of the german BB line.

Was für ein Video hast du denn gesehen? Sowohl Panzerung als auch Luftabwehr (wahrscheinlich die effektivste auf dem Tier) sind die herausstechenden Merkmale der Friedrich. Keines der Tier 9 BBs hat einen nennenswerten Torpedoschutz, von daher ist der Punkt vernachlässigbar. Dafür hat die Friedrich Hydroakustik und man kann dementsprechend viel früher auf Torpedos reagieren. Die Kanonen sind überzeugend, lediglich die Dispersion lässt manchmal zu wünschen übrig, aber auch hier gilt wieder: Das kann man mehr oder weniger über alle BBs sagen.Von daher ist die Friedrich wirklich ein Schlachtschiff ohne nennenswerte oder ungewöhnliche Schwächen.

Yeah I struggled too. Once you get the second hull, you get massively improved ruddershift (with the upgrade module) and from then on it starts to be playable. I´m at 190k XP on the fdg and just now started to enjoy it and have similar damage again to my Bismarck. Also make it a manual secondary/stealth build and add adrenaline rush.Really enjoyed that build. I had manual secondary and AA build before and I hated it, first time in ages I bought doubloons to redo the captain.
