I think those modular guides are nifty. A lot of use cases I can think of off the top of my head just for those square grids

I 100% agree. With all these new additions (and likely more before the full release), I think that 1.4 is shaping up to be the most significant update yet. I love the Filters Library personally. I rarely use filters in the grand scheme of things but that makes it tons better

I found the shape builder being able to work on raster images very interesting. Also new snapping behavior that solves 100% of my issues with grids.

Indeed. There are quite a lot of new little tweaks other than what I outlined in the video including what you just outlined. I really like the new export menu interface too when selecting where to save files & the overhaul on the look of the nodes. There are a lot of quality-of-life fixes in this upcoming release. I am very excited for it 🤗

I am definitely going to look into learning it. I can foresee lots of modifications for your Inkscape then hehe. You will have to show me what you do, I would love to see the changes you make 😉

@@Dexter101x I know web design...well, by "know" I actually mean - I know the basics & enough to get by lol. Coding is more my son's field, I am more about the design hehe

The ability to move the Command Bar to the right isn't new. It's been around at least since 1.3. The UFB and Filter Library are definitely nice additions. I keep hoping my suggestion of being able to flow text between Text Objects will emerge. This would make Inkscape a usable DTP system.

Hello my friend. I know that the command bar moving to the right isn't a new thing, however I was trying to explain the changes you will get as default with 1.4 rather than the different customization options that were already there. As for flowing text, yes! I definitely agree. Flowing text is currently quite tedious to do so stream lining it would be a welcome change. Who knows, maybe they will soon. I suggest visiting Martin Owens channel (www.youtube.com/@doctormo) & suggesting it to him if you haven't already. Thanks for watching my friend 😁

If you don't like your icons on the right, you can restore them to the top by going to the View menu > and deselecting Wide Screen.

Yes my friend, I am fully aware. That is why I put the text at the top saying that you can still tailor it to your liking. I always run the default layout though, this is so when beginners find my videos, they don't get confused by me having a different layout. Therefore, the devs changing this by default is a welcome change. It was/is a conscience decision when making my videos but thank you for the advice. Even if I do not use it, beginners who read the comments will be able to see it and be more empowered by it so again, thank you. 😁 #StayCreative
