Joe is known for the beautiful full shapes of his pots and their rich textures. Watch and learn as Joe demonstrates how he shapes pots from the inside and achieves those rich surface treatments.

Joe, you are one of the mellow gentlemen who make learning accessible. Your approach is friendly and encouraging. I've watched this video several times; every time I watch, I look at what you do that's different than I do (verify your method vs. my own) and try your way. I have Parkinson's and that's part of the reason I keep coming back to your video. Most of the time, your method makes my work better, and takes less stress on my body to get better results. Your advice is right too. Very sharp and short needle tools are the way to go. At this point, you will be 71 or 72, my gosh I'd love one of your workshops. You are remarkable.

Thank you very much for sharing this great and informative demo. It has been like going to a ceramic class taught by an accomplished potter. The advantage of this demo is that it can be seen time after time. Great job Joe!

Interesting that Joe does the initial shaping pull with his right hand inside the pot. I find my left hand doesn't have enough control might try shaping with the right hand on the inside

Great demo, but camera is too far away and can't see any detail ie; hand positions and chatter design.

Good instruction, but why couldn't someone zoom in the camera for Pete's sakes!

It's really too bad the cameraperson did not get in close enough -- can't he zoom in? -- to let us see what any of this stuff looks like. The chattering? no idea. The heavy patterning? Not really. I was so frustrated watching this. He talks about his tools, can't see a thing that he's talking about. What a waste.
