As far as I remember, the Royal family doesn't reside in the Gudaibiya palace but uses it for official occasions and visits from dignitaries. The mostly use and reside in the Riffa palace, Safriya and/or the Sakhir palace mostly.

I live in Bahrain since 2009, I am an expat here from the Philippines, The Royal Family is very humble and generous to its people. Yes, that's true they own 30% of Mclaren. I even shook the hands of the crown prince when he attended the Mclaren event! He was very humble and kind enough to shake the hands of a commoner like me. I love Bahrain this is my second home!
