The Armed Forces of Ukraine continue to work on attracting foreign citizens to military service in the Ukrainian army to help counter Russian aggression. For this purpose, the army has created special units, such as the International Legion of Territorial Defense of Ukraine.
The long duration of military operations and their high intensity require constant maintenance of the appropriate military potential of the armed forces, both in terms of military equipment and military personnel. For this reason, new military units are being created on a regular basis, including those formed from citizens of other countries.
In this video, we will show examples of the activities of some of these units, such as the Athena tactical group, and foreign volunteers, such as British military medic Macer Gifford.
According to the information published on the relevant Wikipedia page, about 400 citizens of other countries who fought on the side of Ukraine have been killed in the Russian-Ukrainian war so far.
