The IMF, the World Bank, the UN, the European Union and so on, all of these were to a large degree founded (after World War 2) because people wanted to avoid future conflicts. Countries. Tax Payers. The only way these institutions survive is tax money. The central banks are "audited" by private companies to fudge the books and send money to the space programs, foreign countries who are corrupt, etc. They just type numbers on a screen they don't send gold, or other precious metals, or cash, or a check to like Uganda lol. They send it digitally with no backing and high interest. Not to mention the money going to these countries in the first place will be put in sectors to do the bidding of said banking institutions and leaders that were put into power by funding their campaigns across the globe in respective countries. Along with voting and elections frauds. Arming militias to overthrow countries and fund drug ops.

Trust me. Its not.

Don't get me wrong, as a European I can attest first-hand that the EU can be a basket case, bureaucratic nightmare and so on. However, I do believe there's genuine long-term potential if we get our act together :)

In my view, between epic austerity fails and just letting countries do whatever they want with the money, there's a balance to be reached so as to render these two entities a lot more effective

@@OneMinuteEconomics I live in a country caught in the debt trap of the IMF. How can devaluing one's currency make life better? In my opinion, it only gives rich countries reasons to exploit poor countries. Example; exploit the country's health sector, our school systems and skilled workforce which makes life miserable for the rest of the population

There are actually economists who suggest policy choices in this direction. But empirical validation or invalidation is not within reach at this point, so plain an simple, we don't know :)

The thing is, it's impossible to cover an entity as controversial as the IMF without people across the entire ideological spectrum rolling their eyes. And I get it, I'd be a hypocrite to say I don't understand why many are frustrated with the IMF and World Bank. However, I do believe there's (potential as well as actual) merit to the concepts.
