@@charliepatterson9321 If you're rubbing in AutoX you're definitely doing it wrong lol. It's a timed event around cones. 1 car at a time. I too tried AutoX years ago. Luckily I was in a hopped up CRX but I still managed to get that thing sideways a bunch. I knew exactly what he meant about not being smooth and wanting to floor it. I treated the throttle like an on off switch and that doesn't turn out too well in AutoX.

Once had a blind neighbor who grew up while muscle cars were just affordable used stuff. He would hear my 1986 GT Mustang and one time asked if I could give him a ride to his ex wife's house to see their kid. I didn't get on it, um, much, but he enjoyed the sound and the shifts (I'm pretty good with a stick). He told me about a friend back in the day who's uncle had a junkyard and they found a Pontiac LeMans and pieced together a pseudo GTO. Unfortunately Pontiac stopped getting good rear axles in 1957, so their fun didn't last long :) But it is great giving a ride to someone who appreciates a performance car. I got my 1986 due to a coworker who once took me out in his 1985 GT Mustang--5,000 RPM in Third gear on backroads during lunch break, it was quite responsive even though that year wasn't considered to be all that fast :)

Tony, hope you recall about 2 weeks ago on your LIVE event I asked you about Fuel Pump for 225 that didnt pump, you mentioned quality issues and to expand the hole by about 1`/4 inch or so. I am happier to report that Buying and installing a Carter Fuel pump fixed the issue, the real problem on the other 2 major manufacturers of these pumps is that the activation arm has a bend in it, and when mounted correctly it will never make contact with the cam lobe, Carter Pump has a straight arm and contacts fully on every rotation, creating 5.5 inches of vacuum and up to 11psi delivery to carb. So one issue fixed and several more to cure. LOVE your videos Dude keep em coming.

Why does the pump make vacuume? My dad has a 62 falcon and I think the wipers run on vacuume from the fuel pump. Didnt know if mopar did it that way too
@fastinradfordable
@fastinradfordable 4 жыл бұрын
Kevin Johnson Vacuum from the engine. Not fuel pump. He was just meaning that if you block off the feed port for the fuel pump it is trying to pull fuel (air) at a vacuum. Which a lot of mechanical pumps aren’t great at. Sounds to me like the OP just had the wrong fuel pump. Or maybe someone installed it in such a way that when it was rotated over the arm was bent. I know on the 7.3 idi fords they have a block mechanical lift pump and it is easy to install the “arm” on the wrong side of the cam. As soon as the engine rotates: bent and will never work.

A ramcharger tow vehicle. I have a 83 318 727 4wd that has pulled many trailers loaded with vehicles/scrap. It was a hell of a work horse. The only bad thing about it was the wheel base. You really had to pay attention to how the load was balanced. She could get squirrelly as all get out if it was the least bit tongue heavy. It was retired to a winter rig years ago because the front end is so loose that it’s like herding a drunk elephant down the road.

Thank you! Your collection put me into a happy place. I look at my collection of Mopars, and I see the cars as I want them to be, not as they are at the moment. The worst is my '73 duster. Crank-back moon-roof!! No engine, trans or shaft. 7-1/4. No K-member. No interior. Missing some glass. Bees found a home in it. Rescued out of the back bottom of a friend's part's yard. Been sitting on the trailer so long, the planks of the trailer have rotted out from under it, and it's falling through. **BUT** I keep buying parts off e-Bay when they come up cheap. Someday . . . Roll bar, wheelie bars, street car with an attitude.

i went down to do some testing at the strip and there was a vega with a v6 231 and he was getting 1700 hp out of it ,i was amazed how fast that little engine was running . when i was kid i would go down to bell's place and help clean parts and learn as much as i could till i got to build engines . then after a few years i started working at a body shop helping at night and week ends to learn everything i could about fixing car . even learn interiors just so i could build a car from ground up . still learning things there seems to be all ways a better way this is y i watch u guy's never know when a new trick or old trick never hurts to learn .i have built a few cars from the ground but never a full race car i just can't gut them i love them to much the way they are i could not do what u do take a drill to it . i love them restored so i race full stock body cars but i will tube them because it looks cool . i would say i'm more about the looks of a car then how fast it is . but after watching u do a 4 door car witch i hate 4 door cars made me think i could gut the sh. out of a 4 door car with no bad feeling on the car so keep up the good job i'm learning .

Tony, you should paint up the tow truck in a Super Bee paint scheme with the Bee wearing the old fashioned doctors head reflector and a Red Cross sleeve band and call it the Mopar Medic. If you install the right wheel lift rig (think repo truck) there's another Red Cross. Add in the older red emergency lights on top (cones) and a white lab coat covered in Mopar patches (a little grease here and there) and YOU shall be adorned properly for your level of Mopar knowledge Dr. Tony 😎B-) LOL

Tony makes me want a Mopar. I'd like almost anything. A few of those cars, or variations, were in my family or friends' families. Other Mopars too. I'd like almost anything from the classic era of Mopar. An early Dart, Belvedere, Sattelite. More a daily driver - but a bit of a sleeper. Nothing outrageous, but something with some kick. A friend's father had a 1969 Coronet 440. Cream with a vinyl roof. Tan interior. He was a doctor. That car was badass but classy. Something along those lines would floor me - but probably be pricey now.

Built a 383 w 727 to mopar stage three build recommend. 11.8 to one pistons and all. What a beast, put it in a 273 valiant along with a Dana 60 rear end. Un body ended up breaking apart for the torque.

I got faith in you I know it takes a lot of time and sometimes you just struggle with things all you can do is do the best you can with what you got it's amazing to me how something so simple can just turn out to be garbage all you can do is put another tire on the fire and get back at it

Flat cams are a pain! When I go to car swap meets, I bring nitrile gloves and go through the "junk crates" looking for old performance cams that aren't damaged. I send them off along with old lifters for rebuild, heat treat, and parkerizing. I break the cam in with single valve springs, then switch out to dual springs. This seems to work. I'm not sure what has happened to the cam blanks or lifters, but it seems to be poor quality metal... One performance shop I buy from actually sells "broken in cams" - they have cut away engines that they spin the cams and lifters in for hours. The heat and noise coming from that room was merciless! I'm a VW guy but used to run a Dart 340 til I got my butt kicked by a VW bug😊 Cheers and thanks for the great videos!

I really love how you do your engine compartments in white so you have more light and can see leaks.

I love your video and collection. I sure miss having a slant six car. As far as carbs I think the Carter AFB is a much better carb than Hollys. I had one in my Nova back in the day mechanical secondary's back in the day much better carb. Keep videos coming. Love the channel

I remember as a kid in the 70s riding down the highway with my dad and started checking cars that were passing. Soon I asked him why I mostly saw Ford's and Chevys but not many Mopars. He promptly replied " they all got wrapped around telephone poles". As soon as I was getting old enough to drive, I found a GTX with a 440 for 1000 dollars. I asked him about it and he said " we are Chevy guys because we are poor" so I ran 327s and 350s ever since. But I think I'm a closet Mopar guy. Always wanted one. after living life though, I can see why he steered me in the direction he did.

I love the Hellvidere. I had a 66 belvedere wagon. White with red interior and a 383/auto. I paid $200 back in 2008 or so. I had it for a short time.
