The Isofarian Guard is a Solo/Co-Op narrative driven adventure board game for 1-2 players.
Welcome to Isofar, a wild land severe in its beauty. The Isofarian people take great pride in their ability to flourish among the hostile wildlife and cruel elements of their mountainous home. As a member of the Isofarian guard, life is never dull. You try to keep the peace among your fellow Isofarians (a never-ending job), as well as deal with constant threats from the aggressive Falmund Empire to the south.
But now, the old patterns are shifting. New forces are at work that will challenge the very underpinnings of reality. You will guide eight different Isofarian Guards throughout 4 interweaving campaigns as they deal with a power that threatens not only Isofar, but the entire world.
In The Isofarian Guard, you will travel throughout the cities and wildernesses of Isofar on a beautifully illustrated world map, fight off enemies using a unique and highly customizable battle system, and use your wits to talk your way out of sticky situations. As you forge important alliances, opportunities will arise for you to craft stronger gear, gain new powers, and step into the destiny you were called to.

I am so excited for this game. The more game play i see the more i can not wait to get it in my hand. I love to grind and craft in games can not wait to try out this system.

might be one of the last great Kickstarter bargains, prices now are getting crazy and this one is still priced at the value of 2 years ago and a game half the size of the one they eventually made here.

I have seen people complain about shipping being expensive since the game was so cheap. Honestly what we are getting should have been $150 plus shipping on KS instead of the $79 + shipping it was. Granted I payed $109 to get extras like the big neoprene playmat as well.

@@fubarbox agreed, and the low base cost on this one and the fact they are covering VAT on KS's makes the shipping cost more than bearable. I do think I will be thinking very carefully before backing future games at Kickstarter with vat and shipping add ons to the base price. Certainly, when you go retail in the UK the price quoted is inclusive of vat and usually free or very low-cost shipping, so the illusion of a bargain at KS gets shattered when you add on those other costs, but as I say Isofarian guard may well be one of the last great true bargains on Kicksterter.

Shipping is crazy expensive. Even with the retail price increase + VAT in my location its only 10$ more if I get it from retail so...

@@SilenceGProd you will still need to add shipping onto the retail price, they aren't going to ship it for free (and you may have import tax and vat as well depending on where you live and where it's being shipped from). I don't think this game is going to be in local game stores or amazon, it will most likely retail from the company website.

Thank you guys for the gameplay, deciding on whether to late pledge or not, so seeing it in action does help a lot. Need some more, especially a more complex fight and see if you use any of the components in the story (like someone asking you for a specific item etc)

I don't think you can use a double sword chip to do the basic attack more than once per round, so the first encounter wouldn't have been quite as quick and easy as it was, but I do understand the final rule book isn't quite ready so great job playing without it.

That's correct they had reference cards but not the full rulebook for this preview so they had a couple small mistakes. Good catch!

Very nice vid, really love it, how you have the B roll while the foreteller narration is in the background, and the transitioning to you guys reading the text! By the way, I think you played the combine card from alek a little wrong. If I remember correctly from an Update (and if they didnt change it), then you need to first activate 2 potions, by placing chips on them. Then you can combine, to get an empowered effect of one potion. I also remember, that you then flip the one potion you didnt use to the other side (it will always be the mixing color of the two used potions). This is a pretty cool mechanic, but you will need to have more AP, to make it work, cause you need 2 for the potions and 1 for combine. Hope this helps, or pls correct me if I am wrong. Pls keep more Isofarian Guard vids coming! Quack!

The obvious answer is both. Kidding aside, Tainted Grail was amazing and I am so glad I tracked down a full pledge. It was the highlight of 2021. I late pledged Isofarian Guard by selling TG.

@@cyberleish It was a question for people who actually played both games, I believe.. ;-) I love TG's combat system, even if it's grindy, the combat was never boring to me. I'm not so sure about Isofarian's Guard combat system, Alex looked kind of annoyed and bored in his first playthrough video.. ;-)

@@1AngelAlita he looked annoyed during the first fight of his first playthrough vid because the enemy kept healing itself, which it did because he was playing with two enemy decks instead of one, player error rather than game mechanic. So I guess the question is best answered by somebody who has played both games "correctly"

I’m still on the fence like many others. If you don’t like the fighting mechanism I don’t think more gameplay videos will change your mind. I do like the Tmb chips but still doubting cause I don’t know if I want to do a few hundred bag builder fightings. It is funny to see though that a lot of people seem to like the game because they get 15kgs for only 79 dollars instead of gameplay reasons. And I agree, it’s tempting.

I think you can only do one standard attack per turn. Thought I read that in an update long ago... maybe it was changed.

impressed by gameplay and the amount of content / component quality for the price of the base pledge. For me the story / narration is just too cliched 'good vs. evil' that I would hate to play it, but for those that don't have a problem with the narrative, I can see how this could appeal immensely.

Planned to get this on my birthday yesterday but backed away because of 50$ shipping costs. Now I'm really unsure if I should pay 144$ on a single boardgame, all positives aside. Even if this game gets way more expensive in retail it still would be cheaper than buying it now and having it shipped (63percent of the total $ are shipping costs for the base pledge)

This game is not going to general retail and will only be sold directly from SKG website. The only retailers who will have it, will be the ones who backed the KS. So you will not get it for less money than right now.
