Yep, Richard Ayoade was doing the 5 finger fillet for real - there's an outtake of him doing it for ages (used in the final credits bit where you mentioned it looked like it was for real) and eventually giving up and saying "That must be enough now!"

Whilst it is sometimes quite ridiculous, this is definitely my type of humour. 😄 I didn’t realise it was a live studio audience until I watched the bloopers the other day.

Solid show, I have to recommend Black Books by Graham Linehan as well: Bill Bailey + Dylan Moran, 18 episodes, maybe one day.

Somewhat incorrect to say it's by Graham, It's Dylan Moran's series, but Graham wrote with him on the first season, he had no part in season 2 or 3.

While series 1 is by no means weak, series 2 feels so much more well-rounded. Somehow this show seemed to just get tighter as it went. Wonderful show.

I like how each of the elements of each situation can mix together in an episode, and it's clever that way and not like a lot of American comedies where the characters meet up in someone's room, a cafe, walk into a kitchen and say just ordinary things and the audience laugh.

Eek! I’m so excited 😁 Spaced is another good (short) one, the start of Simon Pegg, Nick Frost and the director Edgar Wright’s (all of Shawn of the Dead fame) partnership. Also starring the wonderful Jessica Hynes (who also made an appearance in Shawn of the Dead) and Bill Bailey amongst others.

damn right for Spaced. Considering it involves Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright it's a huge surprise no one is reacting to it. (Not forgetting Jessica who was the equally important co writer to Simon, of course. And who gave a perspective that was seriously lacking in the Edgar Wright movies.)

Great show to watch - note that Chris Morris, who plays Denholm (the boss) is a satirist and comedian famous for writing and starring in news spoof programmes like "The Day Today" and "Brass Eye", the latter of which had an episode which was the most complained about episode of TV in the UK at the time. He also wrote and directed the film "Four Lions", a dark comedy about four hapless British wannabe suicide bombers...

I've been an ICT guy in the UK, and 'The IT Crowd' is pretty similar in real life in the places where I have worked. I've only seen yourself reacting to this series so far, and to like it as much as you seem to do, you much be a techno freak. Many people in ICT find it hard to talk to non-IT people, work in cramped and out-of-the-way places and have non-ICT people shouting at them; because that is what makes them work faster. You appreciate this show more when you have actually worked in ICT.

I want to recommend you the HBO&BBC co-production with Chris O'Dowd (Roy character in IT Crowd) called "FAQ about time travel". He is a hilarious actor. Also if you want to see him in a recent role then the short tv show called "The State of the Union" is perfect. It's a 10 episodes, 10 minutes each short show which you can easily finish in just one go.

Before The IT Crowd, Linehan wrote a comedy called Father Ted. While it wasn't quite as good, (and contains excessive swearing) it had a lot of similarities to IT Crowd. Once you have watched all episodes of IT Crowd, should you still want a little more of the same thing, you can watch Father Ted.

@9:36 - I'm not even sure if the writer of the show knows this, but THERE ARE NO SWEAR WORDS IN JAPANESE. Functionally, there are equivalents to some bad words. For example, the Japanese equivalent to "shut up" is "you are noisy." There are also words that are considered slightly rude, but there's nothing equivalent to "swearing."

I’ve always liked laughter/tracks when done well, it sets the format and pacing of the jokes to be more like a stage performance/pantomime instead of needing to be rapid fire jokes with no breathing room in between. I think it got a bad rap for appearing to be overused to force jokes, rather than just being group laughter where you laugh socially even when slightly amused.

1:14 Whether it's a live studio audience or fake/canned laughter, isn't it still a 'Laugh Track'? It's one of the audio tracks. The one that has the laughter. The other audio tracks are sound effects, music, the actors' dialogue, etc. And just because it was recorded in front of a live studio audience doesn't mean that they didn't sweeten the laugh track with the canned stuff. It's rarely 100% the live audience's reactions from what I understand.

Yeah not the best show for reactions... Just like you said, there’s no opportunity for predictions, analysis or discussion, which is why most of us enjoy your channel. And there’s no suspense or plot twists so for the 50 elderly British people who are actually into the show, their reaction experience consists of “i wonder if he’ll laugh at the next joke”... and then you laugh at the joke... riveting!
