Things I Found Online Podcast - Episode 101
We are joined by Luminary podcasters Brandon Ogborn and Omar Crook whose Michael Jackson trials series, “Telephone Stories” is resetting the podcast bar for journalistic storytelling. The panel also includes investigative reporter Diane Dimond and Jackson prosecutor Ron Zonen. We are exploring how high profile criminal cases intersect with modern media and we’re looking at the trials and investigations from the perspectives of a witness, a prosecutor a reporter and two podcasters. How is modern media impacting our perspectives and what can parents and families learn from these cases? We are digging into all of it. The panel includes Jamie Alcroft and Danny Mann.

@@louisepalanker can you explain why Jackson was not arrested and charged if Chandler accurately described the underside of his penis and "many marks" which according to Weis herself couldn't possibly be the same on Dec 20 1993 as they were in May 1993 since vitiligo rapidly changes the white and brown areas (which you for whatever odd reason believe Jackson willingly exposed to Chandler even though he was ashamed of his skin disorder and did he best to hide it from everyone)? And why did Zonen tell in a Reelz documentary that he does not remember what Chandler said? Why is he lying? he knows full well Chandler said MJ was circumcised when he wasn't. If that fact did not discredit Chandler's allegations why did Zonen lie to cover it up? Why doesn't he just say that yes Chandler told the police Jackson was circumcised and the reality was that he wasn't?

if you consider propaganda full of absurd anecdotes and contradictions a masterpiece.... They included Margo Jeffersons and her misinformed and uninformed biased opinion (the woman who never even met Jackson and her book if riddled with inaccuracies) but did not even bother to contact Brett Barnes Frank Casco Emmanuel Lewis Omer Batthi Sean Lennon Macaulay Culkin or Jonathan Spence, the most relevant and honest witnessed to Jackson's behavior with boys including during sleepovers. A masterpiece would not neglect to ask witnesses whose testimony directly disproves Zonen's Dimond's Weis's illogical attacks on Jackson

In Leaving Neverland, it appears to me that Safechuck still hasn't digested his trauma so to speak, while Robson seems to be further along in his healing process. I hope both men ultimately overcome the ramifications of their abuse.

They say they never wanted to get away from Jackson because the alleged abuse was not traumatic. Robson even said he looked forward to be sexually with Jackson, (a 7 year old would look forward to that??) Reed even said they enjoyed it, as much of a creep Reed is. Safechck said "I don't have any bad memory" and then he is laughing while talking about alleged abuse in Paris (which should have been the most shocking since that was supposedly the first one). Do you even know what trauma is? You saw that "trauma" on Safechuck's face when he said "the train station there's a room upstairs and we had sex up there too" , too? He was lying through his teeth as the station provably did not exist when he and Jackson were on the ranch or at any time Safechuck's alleged abuse happened (1988-1992). How many takes did it take for him to get the right facial expression and tone to look oh so traumatized while telling that fabricated story? We don't know since Reed is unwilling to hand over the full unedited footage. Why if they have nothing to hide?

"“Telephone Stories” is resetting the podcast bar for journalistic storytelling" Nobody sane will take that description seriously. These two, Brandon Ogborn and Omar Crook, are just like every other anti-Michael Jackson hack before them. They are using the same bad arguments and dishonest rhetoric that every hack has used. I like how Brandon tries to anticipate criticism by belittling what he knows will come his way ("I'm sure there's a Moonwalker that's like 'There's the axis of evil' ") as if he thinks that's going to disprove that criticism ahead of time. And I also like all of that exaggerated mischaracterization of the defenses for Michael Jackson ("Here's why Diane's evil" "Here was their master plan"). That's so cute, Brandon. Gotta love this little gem that Brandon says at 41:49 which he somehow thinks is a clever question: _How do you reconcile that survivors of child sexual abuse often defend their abuser for years sometimes in court? Their memories are fluid and change of the abuse. They lie about it and deny it._ And he caps that at 42:55 with: _There is a section a subsection of the Moonwalkers and of Jackson defenders that will never they'll never be convinced._ Brandon fails to consider how it actually shows him to be projecting. He ridiculously claims that nothing will ever convince "Moonwalkers" of Jackson's guilt but this narrative that victims of sexual abuse can never get their stories straight means that it offers him the mindset to never be convinced of Michael Jackson's innocence since any and all inconsistencies, major credibility issues and claims being debunked can just be attributed to "victims can never get their stories straight because they are victims". What a convenient environment for false accusers. Also, this narrative is all that people like Brandon and Omar have since no facts back up their belief Michael Jackson was guilty. Brandon and Omar give away that they didn't care about anything that contradicted their belief at 49:00 when Brandon admits that he was "out-nerded" by Jackson supporters which means he didn't research this subject much at all. Or at the least they didn't honestly and objectively dig into the facts like a proper journalist would. Then Omar goes on to describe what Jackson supporters were supposedly sending them which was "Page, after page, after page" which he scoffs at right away by saying "Geez". Their response to facts being provided was to be condescending and to just ignore it. That speaks volumes of their dishonesty and bad faith which has been the constant pattern for those that keep beating the drum that Michael Jackson was guilty.

I think Brandon and Omar aren't really at fault. They truly tried. The thing is a handful of people spreading misinformation as they did for years, in some cases decades. Taraborelli using Francia as a source or Dimond claiming a spot matched on the chandler drawing for example. If you buy that claim your narrative is effectively poisoned. She should know this is bs by now. But I guess she had to protect her life's work: destroying an innocent man she is weirdly obsessed with. This woman disgusts me.

@@hnbrws8111 "I think Brandon and Omar aren't really at fault. They truly tried" They did not try as I pointed out in my post. They were prejudiced the entire time. That whole little podcast series they did was to give the illusion that they were doing hardcore journalism and looking at both sides. It's bull. What they really did was just put on a little production so that when they announce their conclusion which they already drew up prior to this they can claim credibility. In other words, they were trying to avoid the criticism that Dan Reed rightfully got which was how obvious "Leaving Neverland" is propaganda. Brandon and Omar were trying to be more clever with their propaganda. They are not clever.
@hnbrws8111
@hnbrws8111 4 жыл бұрын
I agree they are prejudiced. But it is very understandable if you see what misinformation they are made to believe from the very beginning, from Dimond for example. Or even worse: Douglas. They used Diane Dimond's book as a main source. It might be THE source that lay the groundwork, her book is repeatedly referred to as "thrilling" or something along the line. If you are unfamiliar with the topic and Dimond introduces you to it and plants a handful of false information - you will come down in guilty even if you try to be fair. If you are made to believe the Chandler drawing matched for example or if you are made to believe (through Taraborelli) that Neverland was cleaned out before the raid (and an attorney that worked for the defenses side does not disagree and instead talks about a 300 pound gorilla in the room that forced MJ to settle) then of course you will see all cases that follow through a lense. And ask "how did he get away". Our side that was interviewd in the podcast did not sufficiently adress the handful of nails in MJ's coffin that are used by the guilty side. They could have so easily be addressed! Neverland was never cleaned out, the drawing never matched, MJ was extorted - all those points would be so very easy to argue - but the people interviewd on our side didn't. Maybe because they didn't know what the guilty side spouted. Mesereau only points out circumsicion regarding the drawing. And thus Dimond and Weis get away with their lie (Weis might genuinely be misinformed by Sneddon). So I fully agree they were heavily prejudiced. But I do believe they went into research with good intentions. The thing is Dimond and the like got her clutches in them. And people close to the prosecution have been spreading misinformation for decades. It's not unfair to believe the drawing matched (regarding one blotch) if a police officer involved in the case tells you so. Very good comment btw. I will not lie. Listening to telephone stories made me incredibly angry. Nevertheless I personally like especially Brandon. And he did do good work.

The trial was a big and definite win for Michael Jackson - but this podcast tries to make it sound as if it is ambiguous at least, the podcast is clearly biased.
