The kid has a head on him. Honestly after watching his most recent session with Mike Schmitz on ESPN he has learned a lot by playing in the g league. Things like putting a guy behind him in the pick and roll before he makes a decision and just the type of shots he's taking. I think he is going to have a great rookie year and make the g league path very enticing for top level players with something to prove

I thought JKM was high on Jalen pre-draft. But after watching him play in the summer league, I think this take might have vastly underestimated his shooting ability and his ceiling (and maybe overestimated his defense). I don't see any reason why Jalen won't be shooting 40% from three or better in his prime. That being the case, and if all else falls for him (playmaking, ball handling, strength, and defense all improves), he could be a top 10 player one day.
@RennWickam
@RennWickam 3 жыл бұрын
I actually think that finishing ability is shockingly similar to Lavine, but that ability is constantly underrated thanks to his high-flying dunks and deep range. Lavine's finishing ability doesn't look like someone only 200lbs, he has great touch around the rim and has the same ability to take contact at the rim and seemingly float in the air Lavine does. (Also worth noting that at UCLA Lavine was also a scrawny 180lbs)

@Katsos44
@Katsos44 3 жыл бұрын
Even if he is I’m not too worried about it, he explosive finishes are similar to other 6’3 guards and the added height wouldn’t actually help him much, but if he turns out to be 6’5 then not much had changed except he had more frame to add muscle to
@sw7883
@sw7883 3 жыл бұрын
@@Katsos44 this doesn't make much sense man. Also just for the record if you are taller does not mean you have the genetic ability to add more muscle to your frame. It's quite the opposite. Most dudes taller than 6'0 are ectomorphs. This also not a knock on him my point is the NBA is one of the few sports that height truly has an advantage. So this shit better be so accurate that players are measure with and without shoes and give there heights. If not pay a fine for lying.

Athletic, high-energy and slasher at the rim and he also mentioned he wants to be in all-defensive 1st team so must be working on that front as well. Problem with Rockets at the moment is that they simply do not have leadership qualities or so to speak a captain mindset that keeps the team together. Assuming he adds weight. I mean people say that all the time about these young players. Some do and some don't. For example Malik Monk. People had high hopes for him that he'd get stronger and be a big time scorer. But he hasn't really lived up to the hype. Not yet anyway.
@youngjut3
@youngjut3 3 жыл бұрын
@@paulwarren6062 I actually like that you brought up Malik monk because him and Jalen have a similar game and body build but the difference is Jalen is 2 to 3 inches taller and has the mentality to be a superstar. Which is what separates regular players from the star players. He doesn’t need to add weight he just needs to add muscle. Just like Lavine did... I still think monk could still be good but he is being buried on that hornets bench
@paulwarren6062
@paulwarren6062 3 жыл бұрын
@@youngjut3 This is why it's important for a player to be drafted into the right situation. There can be a variety of reasons as to why some prospects never pan out. All these players are talented, but some don't have the drive to get better. It's partially up to the organization to work with the player and help him maximize his potential. Right now people are arguing about who's better, who should be the #1 pick, Cade or Green. To me the better player doesn't necessarily have to go first. In most cases yes, you'd want the top prospect. But sometimes it's just up to how the team feels about a certain player, how he fits into their culture. You can argue Pistons should take Green because he has more upside. Maybe he'll' be better in the long run. But what if Detroit feels Cade just fits the culture better? There are a lot of variables. In hindsight people say LaMelo should have gone #1. But what if Minnesota simply likes Edwards better? So be it, everyone's happy.

Jalens ceiling is a lot higher offensively and defensively then this video gives him credit for. He's at least going to be a top 40 player assuming his development isn't undermined by franchise instability. I'm not a huge rah rah guy but he's got heart and he's just not very nice and that alone will keep him viable long enough for his skillset to coalesce. I don’t get the narrative around his weight at this age. His build projects fine for adding weight but we already know what he looks like playing against grown men and strength really no more of an issue for him than it is for other wings his age.

@@tvtda1 I mean yea a lot of Potiential in that guy but yeah I think in general it’s hard to compare to the best of all time we have to see how it all pans out like Huston and cleaveland I don’t think have the tools to dominate even if they gena Generational taken. Overall I don’t think it’s fair on green or his predecessors to compare to someone like mike or Kobe who were one of a kind. No disrespect to green but yeah let’s just say he’s Zach lavine at the best floor. He needs to show he can do other stuff than score to be even considered a comparison to mike and Kobe

Great one! Enjoyed and LOLed it. Fair to an extent though personally, he is way better than Cade. Back in HS, it's always Green and Mobley in the rankings. Cade is not in the picture. Not really sure what triggered that -- my bet is money. But there is no comparison. G League is where you face the best college players of past seasons as wells as former NBA players. If you really wanted to be fair - you have to adjust his production x around 2 and then compare that with Cade. So 17 pts is really 30 pts had he gone in college and played smaller players with less athleticism game in game out. His assists would be around 6 per game, blocks at 2 and stealls at 4. In short what I'm saying is Baylor facing any team in G League would not have won a single game. That is the competition level there. One statistic that would have stayed as is had he played college is his change of hairstyle per game. . ROFL.

this. im not a Cade hater cuz i barely know anything about him. im not from US either,im just a JGreen fan. what surprised me is this Cade vs JGreen comparison. cant really compare them cuz 1 played college and 1 played G league. JGreen played amongst Grown men. both playstyles are different too. but still im excited what is the outcome of both of these players. hope they became great players

I’m not hating on Cleveland but if the Pistons draft Cade and the Rockets draft Mobley, that’s gonna be a very awkward moment if the Cavs take him. He does not want to play there
