I think it is a false narrative that the Jets cannot re-sign Reed and Carter. With the salary cap increasing, I think you can get both and still address the needs of the 2022 class.

If they re-sign Reed AND Carter, there's not gonna be much leftover for the others in line for an extension. Sauce at (roughly) $24m, Reed at (roughly) $15m and Carter at (roughly) $10m is $49m devoted to three corners. 2024's cap is $255m. Up 30m from last year. I don't think it'll go up another 30, but lets just say that it does. That's $285m. Also remember, Rodgers' cap hit jumps from 17m this year to (I believe) 51m next year. So thats an even 100m for those 4 players. Do you think they can round out a competitive team with 185m? That's not including the extensions for Garrett and Sauce.

I prioritize Reed over Carter. But we have way more to worry about than this right now

Rising salary cap causes contract inflation though. Everyone complains about non-superstars getting superstar contracts, but it’s bound to happen every time the cap rises because teams are desperate to use that extra money to improve their roster by any means

@@Guild176 Gotcha. Spotrac is showing a 51m cap hit with 49m in dead money. Same with PFF. Who knows these days though.

personally i think we can extend MC2 for 3 yrs and then bandaid reed just for 2025 that way hes out the door before sauce gets really expensive....we havent went "all-in" in any other regard so this minor bump to longterm finances can be afforded...keeping all 3 together for 1 more yr will be WELL worth it...i mean i dont envy breaking them up in the middle of a championship window and reed also sounds like hed be open to the conversation before seeking the bag @ 29 yrs old..u just cant keep reed beyond 2025 imo
