I think we all have to be thankful that people took the time too photograph people and places in their time. If not then now day's we may never know what the people or places looked like.

I agree. Amazing to have such wonderful legacies from those like the Johnsons and George Washington Wilson so we can peep into the past

I agree, it's priceless to be able to peek into the past, if the Internet gets a factory reset so much will be gone.

Lovely post. I still develop 120 &135 film at home, I shoot them with vintage old cameras.

Thank you! I don't think you can really beat film if I'm honest. I know digital is excellent but there's something about developing your own images in a dark room.

Splendid! Local photographers enabled poorer folk to bypass the huge expense of the grand oil and canvas portraits of the nobility. For a few pounds, you could capture a family image for the benefit of future generations. We all talk about Washington Wilson but a personal favourite is Andrew Patterson. He worked in Inverness and there is a FB site (The Andrew Patterson Collection) dedicated to his work. Hope you will share this podcast elsewhere.
