I was in heaven chatting about her appearances on "Laverne & Shirley," "The Jeffersons," Newhart," "Murphy Brown," as well as her films like "Incredible Shrinking Woman," "Clueless," and of course "Earth Girls Are Easy." I love Julie Brown. I loved it when she would move from one room to the next through beads hanging down in the doorway and she would say, Owe, owe, owe. And, I saw the entire Dare to be Truthful, loved Homecoming Queen's got a gun. I forgot that Kathy Griffin was in Dare to be Truthful. Kathy was also in Brooke Shield's TV series Suddenly Susan. But, JULIE BROWN also wrote and was in EARTH GIRL'S ARE EASY. So was Angelyne! My friend and I saw her at the Drug Store across from the Beverly Center, and we devided to run up to her as excited fans and make her feel good. So, we did. We walked her out to her car as we chatted and she asked us if we were going to be at the Nina Hagen concert, and we said YES! Because we LOVE Nina Hagen (who I met years later at DragStrip 66). Angelyne was nice but a little shy. I met her again at The Revolver in West Hollywood, where they named her the Queen of Hearts (or something like that) for Valentines Day. She signed an autograph for me -- Scott, I am your Sex Goddess! Love, Angelyne. My friend lived on Beachwood Canyon and asked her if she lived up there because he saw her car all the time. She said, No, and explained her "grandfather" lived up the canyon. A great thing in Earth Girls was either Jim Carey or Wayans bro. movie was telling a girl, I like your earrings. And, she said, Thanks, they're my Dads. They were American Express cards cut zig-zag. Loved it. Oh, Yes! Because I'm a Blonde, and Big & Stupid. I lived in Hollywood from 1984 and remained for 30 years. Good times. Paula Abdul's gotta go! I met Lily Tomlin at a gas station - she asked me to help her with a stuck pump, but I told her she had to let them know inside to reset the pump.

I’ve always wanted someone to ask her about Cyndi Lauper. Her look and persona during her MTV days was very Lauper-esque, and I’d love to know if she was mocking her, if she was a fan of hers, or if it was just a coincidence. Given Cyndi’s popularity on MTV and in pop culture in the 80’s it seems like there must be a connection there, and I’ve always been surprised it hasn’t been mentioned more. That being said, I’m a fan of both women and enjoyed this interview.

I’m not gonna answer this like I’m the last word on either of the two ladies you’re comparing. I see where you’re coming from, but in the late 80s early 90s the tutus with the corsets were a huge look for all the singers. I think because they both have red hair maybe you’re thinking they’re similar but I don’t think Julie Brown was trying to be like Cyndi Lauper …in my humble opinion.
