Post edit: To clarify, from what I have heard his own brand is run legitimately for the most part. If you are interested in Vuja De's drop, I would say that your purchase is most likely safe but be wary of sizing. I am unsure if this issue was addressed but just for reference I am normally a size 32 in most waist sizings and my cargoes are a size Large and fit quite snug. Pay attention to that sizing chart, y'all!
More of a serious video today dudes but I felt like I need to talk about it! By no means at all is this meant to shame Ken Ijima and like I say in the video I am actually a big fan of his which is why I felt the need to give you my reaction to all of this news. I repeat, this is in no way meant to defame his name, I just want to give you all a reaction of a fan of his. Please do not give him a hard time, I want no animosity to come from this but simply sharing what information is available to me so that you all can have your own take on the subject.

isn't "gifted + low value" for customs purposes? if so it makes sense to remove all tags/receipts so customs would charge less import duties than a high value item.

You don’t remove the fucking tags. You just put it in a box and claim it as a low value gift. Customs won’t open the box.

@@VolcardoReviewer completely depends on which country its being delivered to. the us is very lenient but they still do random checks cuz customs workers have to meet a certain #. a lot of euro countries r very strict tho, so in general its best to remove them, low risk but no reason not to imo. and the whole thing ab it smelling like detergent is bs imo. not a ken fan by any means ive only watched one vid but dont think hes scamming

Thank you for your input ! i love ken’s videos they are quite entertaining videos and all but i hate that he’s playing the victim and always has a valid excuse despite proof of screenshots. Sometimes people do dumb things and i just wished he owned up to scamming. Also the fact he’s so chill saying he doesn’t care about clothes and it’s just clothes is quite insulting to his buyers spending lots of money on what he’s selling to us. it just comes off as very pretentious. Regardless hope all this can be resolved and still wishing him goodluck on his upcoming release.

I couldn't agree more. His attitude says he is distancing himself from the issues and in his mind it seems like he is ignoring the hate however it really comes across pretentious as you said... As a fan of his for quite a while him humbling himself and owning up to mistakes from his past would come off way more genuine and kind of dispel any sort of questionable behavior.. I'll be trying to keep up with what happens but I won't keep my hopes up. He seems pretty adamant on his side but I just hope that at least from this point he's more transparent about how he goes about his brand and youtube. If he really is putting on an act to be entertainment for his subscribers... you can really only play that role for so long...

Love how you remained calm and provided such good insight about the situation without being judgmental. I gotta say that's pretty just the normie thing when you decide to go on the platform. Wherever you are and no matter what you do, there will always be people looking at you and starting judging. Still, you just have to move on. However, we can't deny the knowledge and experiences about fashion and lifestyle Ken has brought up in his videos. I admitted I actually learnt a lot about the culture though. Don't believe everything you see on the internet folks.

Thanks so much for the praise! And yeah I totally agree. He has contributed quite a bit as far as entertainment and insight when it comes to moulding the current fashion/streetwear climate today emphasizing luxury and mixing it with workwear, vintage, and archive inspiration. Gotta give credit where credit is due!

I've seen all of Ken's videos and I have to say, although his content is interesting, he comes off low-key as an insecure person who flaunts the "I'm better/I don't care" attitude. He could've hidden the receipts and tags by taping them to the inside of the pants or something, which would've been more transparent. The way he addresses these accusations is standoff-ish and suss, except for the one about his brand. And the bomber... I understand that some people may not want to show their vulnerable side on camera but he genuinely seems unphased by the incident and you can see him humblebrag the jacket in one of his videos saying "it's thrifted, it's not expensive." He was joking of course but kept emphasizing that it's inexpensive which is something someone who truly doesn't care (as he claimed clothes are just clothes) wouldn't do.

Interesting insight, I never really made those connections! I think he has fallen into the trap of too closely identifying his brand with his KZfaq personality. So any negative press for himself will also likely heavily affect the brand which is extremely dangerous

Truly a TON of factors play into it man. Firstly, credibility of the designer, it’s Raf so already any piece by raf is sought after. It’s considered archive and very few were made which just adds to the value. Demand is high because of the hype behind it. For that piece it’s really just perceived value and those with the type of cash to splash on it saw its worth thus raising the price to such ridiculous prices... tbh that jacket is not even a cut and sew garment, the base jacket was provided by Fostex, a military surplus supplier and Raf just put his own patches on there if I’m not mistaken

I was one of the lucky ones that got what he wanted from the drop so I’m a bit biased I’m not as mad as I would’ve been if I didn’t get the cargos but I was so pissed when I found out everything was getting back doored and all this other stuff just changed my views on him it sucks seeing one of your favs have a downfall like this

Joshua Galdo yeah the brown carpenter pants were the first things gone then everything else the black cargos in large sold out then xl and the grey and black hoodies the only thing available on drop were som cargo pants and some black carpenter pants the shirts socks and hats in even smaller portions

I understand trying to keep production numbers low to ensure full sell through but honestly if he wants to strive for fairness hes going to have to just stop with the early access passwords for friends and family and just provide those pieces on his own accord because it seems that much shadier when the quantities displayed are not the actual quantities available on release... Glad you were able to cop though! I think you will be impressed with the cargoes. I know I was

In the video he said that he lied to everyone, he said he’s sorry to his family, friends and everyone. He didn’t even have an intern or anything, so that raised a huge commotion of people asking him how he makes his money. If you go in his recent videos and go into the comments you’ll see that people are calling him out for lying about his job. He even deleted the video. This guy clearly just can’t stop lying lmao😂

Dangan Yankee I don’t think proxying itself is a bad thing but the transparency of a seller is pretty important to ensure the buyer is satisfied with the price they’re paying. Especially if you’re paying inflated prices for the proxy service itself I want to ensure I know what to expect as the customer

Yondel Johan Pinar it’s very interesting to me, he does bring up very valid points and I really commend him on coming out and addressing everything in depth. I am not a fan of him being aware that he lied about some aspects but with him emphasizing that he prefers to keep his personal life private I can’t really blame him. If anything I see all this as growing pains for a channel that got traction quickly and unexpectedly but I’m glad he took awake some lessons to learn from this mess

imo reason why people dont ask for the reciepts/tags basically is because tarrifs/taxes from country that could actually cost alot more to the buyer (based on seller expierience) second thing is i believe theres no replicas of homme plisse pants and people seems to trust him on that 2nd point i think this expose of ken is honestly futile dosent really affect him at all his collection still sold out in 2 minutes and theres only small amout of people that even know hes been called out by giz he literally has 37k followers thats nothing to him so yeah i guess thats it

In regard to the Homme Plisse pants I definitely overlooked the taxes that go along with shipping internationally like customs fees and taxes so that is entirely my bad. And as for the second point, I don't expect this to be an exposure of Ken at all. Like I stated in the video I am a fan of his but strongly believe that things like this should be said and made known. I truly want his brand and what he does to prosper (I even own a pair of his cargoes) but with the attitude he put forth in his responses I feel as if the situation could be handled better is all. I don't expect his brand's journey to be flawless but I also don't condone allowing behaviors like this to go unnoticed. I still support him in his endeavors because those possible wrongs were in the past and it seems as if he's running his brand responsibly, however, that does not erase his track record. And those buying his clothing deserve to know the whole situation so they can make an informed decision to support him despite these accusations.

Been a long time follower of Ken as well. Very dissapointed in some of the accusations. Especially since alot of things Giz said was true. His brand was too expensive for me anyways but likely will still watch his channel as I like the content he was putting out and Japan in general

Thats a really tough one to answer... I want to give Ken the benefit of the doubt and say that he just had another pair. I am not familiar with the pants he is talking about but it is totally possible that he had the same pants and it was just a something that his former friend wanted to say as rationalization as to why there was a missing pair. To me the most important aspect to that point is that he was accused of it and can't really produce any evidence or just didn't show any evidence as to him having his own pair in the size in question. Like a fit pic or something including those pants may suffice but he addressed it so little that theres just not much to go off of...

I admired that he finally made an explanation, apology (sort of) video, that was considerably long, detailed and informative. To me that was a step in the right direction in regards to redeeming himself, however he pretty much threw that out the window. I'm not sure why he decided to take it down, and I'm not overly impressed that he did. There are tons of designers and brand owners who have done worse with less backlash gone un-noticed, however Ken's audience (as small as it is) on youtube is intimate and personal, and if he's not honest with himself and with others, his following will eat him alive. I really like what Vu-Jade is becoming, so far it looks like a great fashionable, simple clothing/workwear brand, however if this guy values his brand and wants to accumulate a following to run it, he has to give it his all, 100% otherwise it's going to hit him like a ton of bricks. I still stand firm that his clothing designs are not being ripped off from anyone, it more or less seems like people who are just digging up reasons to make him look even worse with information that does not properly back it.

I really think he should have kept that video up. I totally agree with you in that his relationship with his audience is very personal and intimate and I think that’s a very big mistake knowing that he has done in the past. Not that doing something wrong is impossible to come back from but simply lying to your audience no matter the severity of that lie will really turn a lot of people off and the “I don’t give a damn” attitude that he’s really pushing will turn even more people away. I’m not totally turned off by it just because I like the clothes he makes too much but it’s really not making it easy for people to like him... translating over to him not making it easy to fully support his brand.

@@lan8776 I meant essential in regards to design. His clothing is essential (simple) inspired workwear. However if you are familiar with designer wear/high quality clothing, you will understand that "essential" is not a new term to describe items that cost an exorbitant amount of money.

If i paid $35 for the raf bomber and lost it i be pissed but at the same time i wouldnt be furious about it as i only spent $35. Yeah the bomber is worth waaaaaaay more but at least i wouldnt have lost much money 🤷♀️ idk maybe im in the minority here but i can kinda get why he shrugged it off a little bit.

I will say that the resemblance is uncanny... But in a way I think people who research enough can eventually find those original inspirations and get into the real deep diving inspirational pieces. I guess I consider these things from Vuja De gateway pieces LOL

As much as I refuse to support MNML its impossible to deny that they pretty much are a gateway brand. In my opinion brands like that do have a place in fashion as a whole. It's a way for youth on a budget to kind of dip their feet into fashion without doing the more mature work of researching and paying more based on rarity, meaning, construction, etc or a way for those not willing to put more work into researching what they want from the clothes they purchase to just get clothes made primarily for look as opposed to purpose. Its not a great stepping stone but real appreciation is subjective and as I'm sure your perspectives are refined enough to see referencing in clothing its easy to overlook that although something may be a shameless remake the originality and finer details are secondary to the overarching goal of making money. Not my favorite reality of life but it is there...

Flare jeans, paint splattered clothing and cargo pants existed much earlier than Helmut Lang and Gallery Dept were able to capitalize on them, not to mention that these pieces of clothing have been around forever before they turned into some trend. Helmut Lang didn't create cargo pants, and Gallery Dept resells over-priced vintage wear that someone could imitate with a sewing machine. Band wagoners/opportunists trying to use clothing that was never unique to begin with as leverage to hold over someones head and give credit to a trend they don't know much about is pretty weak. I could essentially visit a vintage, surplus store or amazon and replicate the same thing. I also do not like MNML, however they are in no way comparable or in the same lane as Vujade.
