Uh, no, original paperwork states that he created the idea before the race commenced and stuck with the idea, because he said ford should get credit for their cars not him and Shelby. Also, Leo Beebee did not go against Miles and Shelby in real life, Beebee just assigned kens photo finish idea into commision and after the race he stated so.

@@kealahau6727 Jay Leno tells a story about his wife complaining when he spent 2 million on a collector car. But two years later, when the price of the car went up to over 5 million, she apologized. I bought my '66 from a dealer who was a friend of the family. I ordered it with the 365hp, 4 Weber 2V carbs, heavy-duty electric package and the road racing handling package. I drove it all over the US, and put 280,000 miles on it before selling to a friend. My first new car. Sighhhh.

Seems all anyone has to say is related to the price? Anyone know the specs? Sounded awesome, I bet it's pretty trick considering the gentlemen who built it. Sadly the commentators didn't have anything to add to just what the car was, can't believe it was a 289 ???? Money Money Money. Wheres the Gear head details
@Loulovesspeed
@Loulovesspeed 2 жыл бұрын
@Todd Brown - The standard GT 350 was a 306hp 289, while this GT350 R 289 was more highly modified and putting out just over 350hp. The car was lightened significantly by tossing out the rear seat, replacing all the glass (except windshield) with plexiglass, eliminating the rear bumper (not required by the rules) and making the front bumper fiberglass with an enlarged opening for better cooling. There were other mods made to it but these are the biggies! Incredibly, this same 289 cu in powerhouse when put into the Cobra Daytona Coupes was pushing 390 hp! Incredible for the time from a small block, small displacement carbureted engine!

When this car came out in 1965 they had a very hefty price tag of $5,995. Kids if you wanna grow up to be millionaires dont go to college, dont start a business. Just go to ur local Ford or Chevy dealer and buy the most baddest, newest, fastest sports car on the lot. Buy as many as u can. Dont drive them, after purchasing it go park it in a garage. Only drive it to get serviced 2-3x Wait 20-30yrs then sale it as brand new but 20-30yrs old. Milionaire! Ur welcome

@@Blackscorpion1963 - You're exactly right. McQueen's involvement accounted for 100% of the selling price of that car.
