Grant has the gift to teach/instruct. Einstein said, If you can't explain it to a six year old, you don't understand it yourself.

I think Einstein was wrong about that one looking back at it
@tumppinen

@@jamesmolinaro4461 I as well used to think it was a silly idea, but I think most people just misunderstand it and take it as "if 6 year old cannot comprehend quantum physics fully after your explanation, you suck", instead of having a super simplified explanation that suits the level of the recipient. Richard Feynman had a good interview that kind of touched on the subject, but can't recall which one it was. A classic case of culture taking a quote and misusing it.

Came across your channel about 2 months ago. I'm 52 and have been golfing probably 40 years. I've never been good, lol, even after a few different lessons throughout the years. Grant, you seriously have knocked 5 strokes off my game, and hopefully more in the future. You're a great instructor, you explain things so clearly over video that I look back at the lessons I took and shake my head at those instructors. Keep up the great work!!

Exactly that and holding at the top for half a second, which allows my weight to shift forward, has dropped me 15 strokes since same time last year. I am 57 and I now drive 265 yds dead straight. Irons and woods are now fairway finders. Unreal. Grant is such a friggin good teacher, man.

Juat got back from the range where, for the 10000000th time, I forgot that. Hooking, hitting fat, spraying. I stopped and thought "what am I doing?" I wasn't allowing for that stop and fall into the ball. I am 50, and my body doesn't want to do it...I want out of the shot so fast when I am tight or sore. But doing it actually relieves the jarring of mishitting and allows the body to move smoothly through. Mantra in my head "stop, open, compress, clear.". Stop at the back, open my hips just a touch before foreswing, and get low and compress the strike, then clear the body.

The end of the video when grant talks about dropping the hands and then rotating through is something I finally figured out and it has changed my swing and have been able to consistently hit better drives and added more distance to every club. Been striking the ball the best I have in my 2 years of golfing. Also just helped me shoot my lowest round of 86 last week!!

Feeling like the hands are "quiet" going back (not changing their address position) during the 1st half of the backswing can be helpful. When the "cups" start, I key on this and then feeling a flat or slightly bowed wrist @ the top. One of Grant's best lessons here.

I’ve been working on this since the beginning of the year, and I’ve had some rounds under par. However, I still don’t have it down completely. I will tell you that it will take a little while to get your lead wrist strong enough to make this feel solid, especially if you’ve been used to cocking the wrists “up”, instead of “back”. As the left wrist flattens, or slightly bows, the right wrist will cock more back, instead of up. THAT’S the feeling you want! It feels very strange at first. You’ll even feel like you move your body differently. You’ll feel like your power comes from your “turn”, not your hands. But….. it’s well worth the change. Trust me. You’ll have a more predictable ball flight, hit it further, and the strike will improve dramatically. Great, great video, guys!

I’m a 4 handicap and have flipped at impact my entire life. I’ll have random rounds in the high 80s or a good round going and hit one off the planet right. I’ve been working on this and I can’t tell you how amazing it feels to trust the club face through impact. I still miss left and right and I don’t have it down yet, but my misses are wayyyyy smaller. And it feels like there’s no club rotation through impact which is awesome
@jamiesloan7259
@jamiesloan7259 Жыл бұрын
@@aaronclare2682 I can tell you for ME…. If I wanna hit a fade, I’ll turn harder, and add more right side bend through impact. The hard turn sorta kicks the club “out” a little, giving me that slight outside/in path needed to hit the fade. The right side bend helps hold the face off a little longer, giving me that slightly “open to path” face that I need. I’ll also finish more low/left after impact. When I’m trying to hit the draw, I’ll feel a like I’m keeping my hands in front of my chest, throughout the entire swing, and I won’t turn the body as aggressively. I’m basically being patient, and allowing the club, and body to move together naturally. The slight body “stall” automatically makes me release the club a little sooner. My swing will actually feel more around me, and “flatter”(if that makes sense). With this swing, I’ll feel myself finishing higher after impact, on my follow through, because I’m slightly throwing the club from the inside/out at the ball. I would experiment with with what “feelings” that YOU need, in order to change path, and face. I hope this helps you, instead of confusing you. Good luck, bro.
@aaronclare2682
@aaronclare2682 Жыл бұрын
@@jamiesloan7259 that’s awesome, I’ll definitely have to try that. I played off a scratch in HS and really miss being able to trust my swing, so I hope to get back to that. I have no idea why my college coaches couldn’t analyze my swing, but I’ve been watching a lot of Grant and slowly implementing stuff. I think this is the biggest key to my inconsistency
@jamiesloan7259
@jamiesloan7259 Жыл бұрын
@@aaronclare2682 I can tell by the way you talk, that you’re a scratch level player. That’s why I figured that me explaining my swing thoughts, or feelings, might make something “click” for ya. Or, at least give you something that you can relate to. I find it easier to play my fade, but I’ll play the draw if I need to on a specific shot. I can predict my fade better, therefore pretty much eliminating a 2-way miss. My draw comes out as a “block” sometimes, or even a hook. Not good. lol
@aaronclare2682
@aaronclare2682 Жыл бұрын
@@jamiesloan7259 haha yeah I’m traditionally a slight fader. I was hitting a 3 yard draw on the range when I was working on this, but I’m sure I can work my way to fading it with more left rotation as you were saying. I think my absolute favorite thing about this change is, I’ve always been garbage at wedge shots, especially 3/4 ones. I think this is because I get flippy/scoopy with my wrists through impact. I was hitting beautiful low draw 3/4 wedge shots. Every single one wasn’t perfect, but I just made this change. It felt so amazing to just hold off the face and rotate through. I can’t wait to keep working on it, I have a goal to get back to scratch within 2 years (wife and 2 year old make it tough to play a ton)

This is what i did without even knowing so, when i corrected my big fade and slice tendency…and after 2/3 yrs really working at it on the range and course its amazing to be able to hit a big high draw and see the ball go right to left. It straightened out my drive a ton, my miss with driver is no longer a big slice. And my irons miss is just a tiny push and i can draw irons controlled when i want for the most part! Its a beautiful thing. And ive been golfing for about 14 yrs

My message to all you high handicappers, hackers and duffers out there is to keep practicing and keep the dream alive. Obviously when it doesn't happen and you finally realise that you're never going to be any good at golf and you sell your clubs or they end up in the lake, at least you can say you gave it a go. Best wishes, Johnny Muscles

Hit a pitching wedge out of a fairway on 12 or 13 and it felt completely different than my longer club swings, as I was keeping the face shut. Last couple holes I focused on keeping that face shut by bowing the wrist and hit my best shots of the day.

I love that they don’t cut out the parts where Grant gives a pointer and it doesn’t work right away. But a swing or two later it’s getting narrowed down and Matt starts to get what grants asking. Makes it very relatable because you aren’t going to get that change and result the next swing every time.

Great video. I’ve been having problems with casting and couldn’t figure out how to change it. Hopefully this is the fix.

I love seeing the struggle with new swing changes. So often in videos like this, its like... ohh what a miracle, your swing is cured. But in reality it takes a lot of mistakes, trial and error

I have very similar swing to Matt and fall to similar issues when I’m not right. I think this is a very helpful video.
