Crying won't help you if you find yourself in the hands of the King in Yellow! Here I take a look at Arc Dream's excellent annotated edition of the supernatural horror classic by Robert W. Chambers.

This versions looks awesome!! I am about to buy The King In Yellow but I don't know which edition yet. I am between Pushkin Press or Wordsworth Editions which has more than 4 stories. Do you think I'll miss on the rest of the shorter stories if I get the Pushkin Press? Thank you in advance!

Thanks for the review. I read it years ago, in some old, literally yellowed paperback edition, and so my memories of it are not terribly strong now. But from what I recall, the first few stories showed quite some promise, but by the end it had fizzled out with some pretty inconsequential stories, rather belying the dread warnings of inducing insanity in the reader. I wouldn't mind a hardcover edition if it was priced a bit more moderately.

Yes the first few stories are the only ones that really tie into the same mythos. They are excellent. It should have been two collections really.
