I was glad to see this, my dad and Mr. Davis were good friends when he lived on the west side of Chicago. My Dad is 81, still sharp in memory.

I love Tyrone Davis to death. I have been listening to Tyrone since I was about 10-yrs old.... I will never forget that voice of his...... Tyrone's music 🎵🎶🎶 played a very vital point in my life growing up as a young kid. His songs has a lot to do with my growing up as a young teenager. 💯 I have purchased a lot of his music down through the years. During my (" MILITARY") days especially. The day came to me when I found out he had passed on from this world 🌎. It was a hard stiff pain in my heart. ❤️💜... It bought tears in my heart. One would have thought I lost a close family member. It really threw me a curve ball..🥲 I just couldn't believe he was gone.... I still get water 💦 in my eyes from time to time when I hear one of his songs..♥️💦🥲. You would think I was his cousin or something. May the Grace of ("GOD") surround him... RIP My dear brother Tyrone..🙏✝️♥️💦

That was the Man since “Can I Change My Mind” in 1968!! There was no other as far as record buying women until Al Green came along. he represented Chicago soul straight through til disco came along in 1977-78.

Tyrone got to the point he didn't need a hit all he had to do was show up in your town and the people would come to the show. I saw him Johnny Taylor and Bobby Womack what a show all were very good but JT was the show stopper.

Here in Greenville Ms, i stayed down the street from the house he lived in.. he decided to move after working small jobs etc. King of Southern soul.. people love him here in Greenville still

Tyrone Davis second home was in George at the nite club called The Red Fox i tried to show up at every show & shake mine too. RIP ❤ to a True Legend!! However that club wasn't name after the Legendary Mr. Redd Foxx aka Mr. Fred G Sanford period RIP to another great Legend!!

I have almost all of his music. My two favorite albums of his is "I Can't Go On This Way" release in 1978, "In The Mood With Tyrone Davis" released in 1979 which I have on CDs. I met him inside of a record store in 1999. I have all of his Columbia LPs releases on CDs. And I have all of his Malaco CD releases. "Get On Up (Disco)" is my all time favorite song of his.

True story... back in the day a friend of mine had invited me to a Club and we were sitting at the bar. There was a man, that walked up to us while sitting and had a brief conversation with us... asking us how we were doing and if we are enjoying ourselves... After the man, left my friend looked over to me and said... you know who that is right? I, responded No... he, said that's Tyrone Davis. I, was so surprised because he was so approachable and down to earth.

How could Tyrone Davis be called " The king Of Chicago Soul " with so many greater artists with far more hits and impact than Tyrone Davis ? Three far greater artists come to mind immediately, Curtis Mayfield (with or without the Impressions ), R Kelly, and Donny Hathaway. There were others with far more hits like Jerry Butler and of course Lou Rawls, but to add further proof I will name the person considered by many to be the " The Greatest Artist of All Time no matter the genre " Sam Cooke!

I recall my mom goin to concerts with him & Otis Clay headlining. These were classified as "Blues" concerts. I also recall hearing his music when I was little growing into my teens. My mom LOVED the Blues. BB King was her favorite artist, but, I believe she just loved the sound, being from Raymond, Mississippi

Honestly, I’ve never heard of him. I worked up one of his songs and saw a name that I wash my hair with they provided back up. The man is Eugene Records. He’s a founding member of the Chi Lites, the Chi Lites have one original members still alive. I’m in the Marshall Thompson years ago Mr. Thompson was arrested for extortion, and had to serve. I think a year to two years in prison. Be illegally sold badges and bribed cops and charged $2500.00 for them and this allowed them to carry guns. Many were convicted felons.

I PLAYED FIRST TRUMPET WITH TYRONE DAVIS FOR 3 LONG YEARS AND IT WAS THE WORST TIME IN MY LIFE . MY VERY FIRST DAY WE RODE FROM CHICAGO 1449 SOUTH MICHIGAN AVENUE BRUNSWICK RECORDING STUDIO TO TEXAS. IT RAINED ALL THE WAY THERE. AT THAT TIME MR. DAVIS HAD A YELLOW PANAL TRUCK FOR 8 PEOPLE TO RIDE IN. WHEN WE GOT TO TEXAS I WAS WORN OUT FROM THE RIDE. WE PARKED IN THE HOLIDAY INN PARKING LOT SO I THOUGHT WE ALL WOULD GET OUT AND GO WITH MR.DAVIS TO GET OUR ROOMS AND BOY WAS I WRONG. L V JOHNSON TOLD ME TO GO BACK TO THE VAN CAUSE IT WAS NOT TIME FOR US TO GET ROOMS, SO I GOT BACK INTO THE VAN. HERE COMES TYRONE DAVIS SCREAMING AT ME CALLING ME ALL KINDS OF MF TELLING ME NOT TO EVER COME INTO THE MF MOTEL WHEN HE WAS GETTING HIS ROOM. THE BAND MEMBERS WERE QUITE AS A MOUSE, YOU COULD HEAR A PIN DROP. I THOUGHT TO MYSELF WHAT HAVE I GOTTEN MYSELF INTO? I STAYED FOR 3 YEARS OF ABUSE BECAUSE I HAD GOTTEN OUT OF THE ARMY HALFWAY BAD AND COULDN'T GET A JOB. AFTER ABOUT 3 YEARS OF NOT MAKING MORE THEN $50 A NIGHT AND MAKING NO MONEY I QUIT AFTER THE BAND REFUSED TO STAND UP LIKE MEN AND DEMAND MORE MONEY AND BETTER WORKING CONDITIONS. I QUIT IN KNOXVILLE TENNESSEE ON THE SECOND SHOW AND DIDN'T LOOK BACK. I WOULD FIND OUT LATER THAT MY PROTEST MADE IT BETTER FOR THE NEXT BAND.

I can tell you all sweet good stories about Mr TYRONE...But most wouldn't believe them...I will say this.,.....on the riad He was the man that dated someone one in my family !!
