There is no bigger Salmon that swims the ocean or the rivers! The King Salmon (Chinook) is the mightiest of them all. A www.wherewiseme... week to Nicholas Dean Lodge in BC, fishing on the Kitimat River culminating in a 50lb fish...caught by the rotten B%!!@! guide!!

As a fisherman living on the kitimat, there's no way that's a 50lb nookie, 25 maybe 30. Beauty fish for sure though.

i was thinking the same thing. no offense at all, but that is maybe a 35 lb fish at best

Well my last comment was deleted, so here we I go again!! I'm a retired Fish Pathologist and I've very Seriously fished for 4 species of Pacific Salmon (we don't have Pinks in Oregon), and both Winter and Summer Steelhead in Oregon and S.W. Washington with Steelhead averaging far larger than any in B.C. and once upon a time, Idaho, had some Monsterous Steelhead. At any rate I presently live on a river with Hatchery runs of Chinook, and Native Silvers (Oncorhynchus kisutch). About 4 years ago, I caught a 42 Lb Hatchery Chinook, and it was Huge as compared to what we saw here, and even though I was chasing it in my driftboat, it still seemed to take forever to land it!! Prior to that I had caught six or more 47 to 52 pounders on other Coastal streams. A fresh 47 to 50 pound Chinook, is a site to behold!! I'm not accusing anyone of lying, but after catching literally Hundreds of Kings (Oncorhynchus tshawytscha), I can confidently say that the Chinook in the video was probably pushing 30 pounds. Again I'm not accusing anyone of lying!!

I deleted your comments as it is hopeless trying to argue You Tube warriors. You may be a fish pathologist, a fish whisperer or indeed just an armchair critic...but unless you factor in the size of the individual holding the fish I fail to see how you can make an objective comment. The individual whom caught the salmon has fished the river his entire life and has caught numerous fish of that size.. He is also approx 400lbs and 6ft 7. His hands are like shovels. Context is everything and until you take that into account your remarks are equally...out of context.

A suggestion for future videos, an overview or short segment on the flies being used would be nice. There's a ton of info on Atlantic salmon flies but very little on the pacific salmon flies being used in the vast majority of videos out there. Thanks.

The guide is 6ft 5 inches. He is a very large individual. It was not weighed so nobody is going to argue the toss however if he says it is one of the biggest fish he has caught on a fly in 20 years of guiding I think it is fair to say that it was a large fish.

Large fish but it doesn’t have the depth of a 50 pounder. Hell of a catch though.

Ehh, I caught a 45 lb King in Alaska in Seward, LOL will never forget what that fish looked like. It was in the ocean and took 45 minutes to pull in. One minute per pound to be exact. Almost didn't have the strength left to finish. Let me just say - This thing is CLOSE ENOUGH. Who cares if it's 40-,50 or more, those fish are big.

A very humble by todays standards Sony HD Handycam with a simple polarising lens. It remains a mystery to me how it still seems to work having spent most of its 5 yr life to date shoved either into the bottom of a backpack wrapped in a scarf if lucky / down my waders / or left to bake / be xposed to the elements on a tripod.

That's a good fish, guys saying 35 are just jealous. Even if that guys was the size of the hulk you can look at the proportions as see, it's mid 40's, close to 50.

You guys obviously have never seen anything more that 20 lb. This one was 50 lb easy. Biggest I caught (and measured) was 35 lb and that one was waaaay smaller than this one.
