He reminds me of the German directors Werner Herzog which has written and directed about 20 films and over 30 documentaries from 1968 to 2022 in addition to many short films and documentaries. And also Rainer Werner Fassbinder who wrote and directed 52 productions between films, documentaries and shorts during a career of 18 years often making 4-5 films each year.

The subs are right on the mark because they say "It is vintage, take note!" 0:41 There are other details too but not going into them. lol

То как он подбирает музыку, это просто не слов😍😍😍 (аха на Spotify есть 1000 плейлистов с музыкой к его фильмам)))

Многие находят Николя пустым и легкомысленным. А мне видится за его поведением желание юного мальчика, юного Адониса , чтобы кто- то важный и любимый в его детстве не уходил от него( и его мамы), смотрел на него( и его маму) , дорожил им ( и его мамой, как его неотъемлемой части, части его истории) . Он наказывает любовью, овладевает воображением и чувством прекрасного других людей, чтобы заглушить своё чувство одиночества, покинутости, боли. Может, я не права, но я так вижу ситуацию. И звучащая фраза Николя- " пусть за мной идёт тот, кто меня любит"... и песня " Bang, bang" - это о том, как сташно потерять то , что дорого, что поражает наше сердце- чувство прекрасного. Николя вошёл в жизнь друзей, как прекрасный молодой бог. В жизни Николя тоже когда- то был кто- то, за кем он готов был бежать.

@@user-uc6ji5dq1l I don't agree, Nicolas came from the countryside and it becomes obvious quite early they're liking him in the sense of 'nobles versus peasantry' like it happens in Anna Karenina. Nicolas is flat because we see Nicolas through our main characters. They don't see him for who he really is, instead they turn it into an open game of "who will fuck him first?". I find this really cruel, because they don't consider his own personality, his sexuality, nor do they respect his friendship. The cruelty of this game becomes evident when Nicolas becomes a disenchanted punk at the end of the film. He rids himself of his innocence, and his beauty, to protect himself from the predators that lurk in the city - our main characters. What's really nice about this film is that you can identify with Nicolas, having fallen prey to (sub)urban hipsters, or to our main characters, which are base hipsters. It's really smart, because Godard did the same when he portrayed the Parisian youth in his early films: they're so bored, they stopped caring about the world. They don't shout revolution, because they actually want the world to change, they simply want to destroy out of ennui. The same goes for alot of things happening in Dolan's movies, his characters are so bored they start playing with their identity, with their relationships to others, with their family, just to have something happening in their lives, but rarely did they set out to get the reaction they get when their intentions are set in motion. It shows that alot of youth are confused and find it hard to express themselves, so they revert to sow chaos. But you reap what you sow, which is often ugly if you only know how to spread ugly.

Видимо, тот человек тоже был городской пижон с замашками аристократа, но ушёл от Николя и его матери не попрощавшись. Николас , выбравшись из деревни , познав обиды и унижения, пользуется своей красотой, чтобы выразить своему обидчику из прошлого своё презрение. Красота и волнующая " неопределённость"- его оружие. Франсис и Мари тянутся к нему именно потому, что видят, но не понимают его. В непонимании, в неопределённости есть загадка. Николас ими играет, он как раз понимает, что они из себя представляют. Он видит их пресыщенность, их эгоизм. Он даёт им видимость своей " невинности", Вы точно это отметили . И ему нравится их " наказывать", " ставить на место", Николасу важно дать им понять, что они оба могут выглядеть глупо и нелепо. В конце , одевая нелепую шапочку, он снова смеётся над ними. Способны ли Франсис и Мари на настоящие чувства? Или всё, на что они способны- это только воображаемая любовь?

@@DarkAngelEU Забавно, что Ксавье Долан внешне здесь очень похож на моего отца в юности, даже причёской. И в чём- то не только внешне: в юности отец тоже любил тусовки, общался с " золотой молодёжью", был интеллигентным красавцем. Женился на девушке из рабочей семьи. Так сказать, мезальянс. Мой отец в какой- то момент тоже чуть не ушёл из семьи. Не предал, остался. Смотрю фильм, вспоминаю отца, и вижу в нём некое сочетание из нежного, эмоционального Франсиса и ускользающего, насмешливого , но в глубине ранимого Николаса. И мысль , которая звучит в моей голове : " не уходи, не покидай". Мой отец умер, когда я была ещё юной, а мы о многом так и не поговорили.
