This is the best boss. Idk why, but I love him. I usually hate bosses when I struggle to defeat them, but even if it tooke me one entire year to defeat him, I loved his character design and everything about him. And the song... well, it might be the best part. ENUMA ELISH

Julius has to be the coolest of the knights, his fight is so good

It took me maybe 50 tries on Ulv. Julius went down on try 3, before I even had a plan, just trying to clock his patterns. Just kept dashing through everything and hitting with the basic knight. Even Gerrod was harder for me, probably 20 tries.

Damn. Truly each playthrough their own, huh? I beat Ulv in 4 tries, Gerrod in 2, but got bloody stuck on Julius for 3 hours straight.@@asafoetidajones8181

I love how the game allows you to challenge yourself giving the option to him to Instakill you increase his hp and reduct Lilys damage. With that, this fight could be endless

@@rosyfeather468 after beat the game you can change Lilys and bosses stats, instakill and x10 Boss HP for example

I didn't know there's none of that in the fight other than he could one shot me in his third phase. But as far as my damage output or the damage I received I didn't notice none of that. I guess cuz I didn't let him hit me very much either 🤣🤣🤣

@@alexsmith3518There is a difficulty modifier once you beat the game. You can amp up the damage enemies give you, and increase enemy HP. This theoretically can make a boss fight nearly impossible to beat because you double the boss damage output, and make them as close to invincible as you can

After my first playthrough i had a hard time deciding whether Julius or Ulv was my favourite fight, but NG+ really pushed my opinion in favour of Julius, easily the most intense fight in the game.

I hated Ulv, he was so overtuned with high hp, massive damage, and ridiculous mobility and position punishes. As fast as he was, his fight felt so dragged out having to bait specific attacks to get a safe hit in and I still can't forgive his X slash and double shockwave attacks. Julius has such an amazing back and forth, his fight really feels like 'the dance', up there with NKG as one of the best of all time imo

As painful and as difficult as Julius is, he is by far one of the best spirits, and my favorite boss fight of the game

He's a little slow for me but I love his special attack and the fight against him was awesome. I love fighting him and Hoenir the most.

(Spoilers, just in case) Stories like Julius' is why I personally believe the theme of the game is "Seething Hatred for another is the vilest of blights", or as the quote actually goes "Hatred is the vilest of Blights, left unpurified, it festers, rotting one from within". Julius, knight captain of the king's army, nephew of a dark executioner, climbed the ranks to prove himself to his father worth, out of spite and anger of a perceived slight, eventually killing his fellow soldiers and his father, a father who searched desperately for the son of the woman he loved so much so that he didn't sire an heir with another royal, so angry at the very thought of his son dying within the castle walls, so broken by the death of his beloved and child, we went mad, obsessed with a supposed "immortal elixir" that it blinded him to other possibilities of ending the Blight for good, then in his last moments, he sees his son, alive, but made mad by the Blight, it's no wonder the king never came back as one of the Blighted, too encumbered by grief, regret, and genuine sadness that his son had been alive for so long and he never noticed him until it was too late, and the kingdom was doomed, and now here Julius is, on a broken, bloodstained throne facing off against the only hope the kingdom has left for peace in a deadly decadence for the fate of the kingdom. "What would bring somebody to slay his own blood?"
