the "high" part is so out of nowhere i love it. he's actually the perfect idol. having a vocal range that's so extreme as a _rapper_ is unheard of. the entire boom album feels like a full group comeback, except it's one man only (except for the duet with changsub). also, that's so cheeky for him to ask "what are you looking for?" in his shirtless scene

It's loud, but not noisy. It is meaningful & sonically resonant loudness. I love manly-dark-dangerous concepts generated from seasoned idols known for their arresting sex appeal. MINHYUK is king. As sexy as he is always sweet and genuine.

Someone said that the song/MV are hypnotic, and that pretty much nails it. One of my favorite touches are the contacts he is wearing. It is a minimal touch, but many people are going to subconsciously read it is a pleasure dilation.

I was so excited to see your reaction to this because I knew how much you love Minhyuk and that you would love this comeback. The first time I saw it, I was so amazed and I could tell that he took notes and just improved upon everything he brought to the first comeback. Personally, it did take me a few listens before I got used to Boom and came to love it as much as I do YA but now I can definitely say that I can't get enough of it!

When I first listened to YA I was so amazed at how Minhyuk switches from rapping to singing - like does he ever breathes in between those transitions? Obviously, I do not listen to a lot of K-pop artists solo or in groups and to be frank I was not even into the rap genre. BTOB just changes my musical preference I suppose. What I love about Huta is not his abs but his way of just pushing himself to do what he wants to do no matter how hard it is. I just wish that I also have the same mindset as him in everything, maybe because he is an all-rounder that is why he has the luxury of pushing himself beyond his boundary. I much as I love YA I think BOOM got me more. Boom makes my heart skip and makes me want to dance. It is just so catchy and makes you think of it randomly and find yourself humming the song unconsciously. But still, Tonight with Melody is my all-time favorite Minhyuk song....lol

I was waiting for this. Your reactions did not disappoint. I'll admit I just got sucked in by him since this comeback...but I don't regret it at all. I watched this first maybe Thursday night or Friday morning and I've been obsessed with it (and him) since then, I don't even want to admit how many times I've watched this MV but also watched every music show stage and every comeback promotion related video I can find. The music show stages are worth a watch through privately too, the choreography is pretty awesome and his stage presence is over the top. And yeah I listened to both of his albums entirely and I think he's definitely taken my top male soloist spot. Huta is definitely my fave male soloist lol. I 've always loved BTOB but honestly with male soloists, I'm not really into the others for some reason or another. They just don't hit me with the same level of impact Minhyuk does. Like he's attractive in many ways to me too!! Like not just looks wise, but as you said, his artistry, creativity and even humility especially when watching him on Bikira and being so warm and friendly to junior idols etc. He's really a gem to the KPop would and though personally, YA is still more my type of song compared to BOOM, I think as an overall production, he really topped himself from before. And damn are those high notes so satisfying! Huta is really sooo versatile and seeing him really being so committed and passionate in delivering the best he can in every area is really so cool! My ult in KPop is actually Everglow Aisha and I sometimes think if she ever pursues a solo career, Huta would be a really good point of reference for her since they are both rappers who have a wide register and style in both rapping and singing. And just both their drive and potential in challenging themselves to new things and staying committed and passionate about performing over a long time. Hahah.

Hi PD I was really looking forward to your reaction because I know what a big fan of Huta's you are but I also know how knowledgeable your analyses are. You losing your... Cool... Is a pretty good indicator of how good this Is. I followed all the previews from this comeback and was already totally smitten and hooked even before the song actually dropped. When It did my brain just fried. Most reactors I watched whether they already knew him or not were bumbling messes while watching Boom. I don't know enough male soloists but I doubt anyone can top Huta for me. You're right it's not about his supernatural beauty but about his creativity and artistry.
