The Land Of Missed Opportunity (but also... Why I Still Love Red Dead Online)

Red Dead Online is on of my favourite games to jump in, chill out and vibe with. I play it on a pretty regular basis. I want to show in this video that the game is actually still a decent experience despite it's issues and the negative perception. In my view it's no where near as bad as what people say. In fact it isn't bad at all. However there is a big issue with the games content in particular that can't be overlooked. And no matter how much I love this game, I can't help but see the missed potential this game could have had if Rockstar embraced it's setting instead of trying to make GTA Online clone and abandoning it when that didn't work out. Red Dead Online deserved better.

Great video. Barely tried RDR2 online mainly just due to how disappointingly different it is to RDR(1) online which was one of the best online games I've played.

im also playing RD Offline, as i just started this week and didnt know about hackers. i thought wtf is this UFOs Huge Bears attacking n ppl exploding me around.. game also kept on crashing .. was so frustrating, until i found out, its cus hackers, so i found the .meta help to make the game solo .. now i enjoy RD Offline alot :)

It sucks that R* dropped support for RDO. It had so much potential but they just didn't care! And the fact that it won't get anymore updates just makes playing it kinda pointless at this point. You can only do the same repetative missions with the friends so many times before you you just go yeah, fuck this!

I like it. I like logging in and going hunting or doing like a moonshine run. Bounty. Maybe a public event or PVE to mix it up. I just like existing in that world. I like the repetitive nature of it. It's just a chill game for me. Easy to jump in and just play a bit. Especially for quick steam deck sessions. Because of that, I have been considering looking into RP servers.

I have hundrets of hours in rdr2 but i never really played the online mode . I tried it like a year ago because i wanted some more Red Dead content but i would wait forever to fill a lobby for a simple mission in could pretty much do by myself . I wish there was a possibility to just play everything solo , or is there?

I don't think you can play those story missions solo. I have only ever played one of them with a friend. You can do all the roles content solo. And there is public events which always have players and PVP or PVE you can do. You always can find lobbies for those. A lot of people still do play RDO. I always have full lobbies of people. But I've never tried the matchmaking for the story missions. The majority of it you can do solo. But it is a bit of a grind, it's not for everyone. I enjoy it, I Personalty think RDO is better then GTO despite it's issues but that's just me.

Yes, most blood money missions will put you in temperary solo lobbies, some level 3 bounty hunter missions do that also. If you're quick, you can also start a new mission (like a stranger mission for example) to keep it. Another sollution is to steal a train and keep it near your area. Your camp can also keep other players out from filling up your lobby.

I am well aware the game is "dead", yet I see so many new players and old players playing and hanging around! The game is dead because Rockstar decided to abandon it, I still play even if they don't ever comeback to it, but I am sure they will comeback to it...! Either or, they are still making bank from it

Red dead community has changed a lot since 2019 when i started playing rdo, now i run into a lot of booters, lag switchers, crounus user and god mode users.

I definitely encountered my fair share of hackers during my time playing the game. But I will also say I don't really encounter it that often. Just been lucky I guess

I've been fortunate enough where I haven't had to deal with hackers too much. Sometimes, I encounter them. Case in point, the part in my video. But most of the time, everyone is the servers are just going about doing their thing. In these instances, it is far less toxic than GTA Online. People in Red Dead seem to be respectful but I guess i've just been lucky in that regard. I get it's not the norm for some people, especially on PC

I know 👍true. Though a lot of the time I don't really have enough time to wait around for 20 - 30 minutes for a timer to countdown. Especially when half the time I boot up RDO I only have that much time to actually play and I'd rather just play and enjoy the game then wait.

I did like rdr online, but it was so bloody boring, I did the like the online story, but unfortunately it was abdoned by cockstar, I didn't the roles it feels like a chore that goes on and on and on for forver. I did the mooshine story. But after cockstar abandoned rdr online I quit the game then and gta online, So nowadays I rather play elder scrolls online. becuase it was way better quests and bigger maps.

For me, I really like the roles. I like going around collecting stuff or hunting. It's good for having a stream or video open on the other screen. Or for quick steam deck sessions. I'm perfectly fine with that gameplay loop. Public events to mix it up. But I do think, the roles could be so much better. Better rewards, story missions tied to all of them. The Moonshiner is by far the best role in the regard.

RDO is dead because of the hackers and cheaters........Why even play it, it is dead, the missions are boring and it's just a trollers paradise in the sandbox cuz of cheating and modding.

That and non-separated lobbies of free aim and aim assist along with Dead eye also being aim assist.
