Prof. Axel Buether talks about his research regarding the language of colors: How do different colors influence our lives, interactions and subconsciousness? Prof. Dr. Axel Buether has started his career as a stone mason. After finishing his traineeship, he studied architecture, gaining a doctorate in the interdisciplinary area of neuropsychology and design with a thesis on the semiotics of perceptual space.
Since then, he worked on a variety of architecture, design and media art projects.
He was appointed in 2006 as director of the German Colour Association,an interdisciplinary association that has hosted international conferences, held competitions and provided education and training on colour for 50 years.
Prof. Dr. Buether served as Professor of Colour, Light and Space at Burg Giebichenstein Kunsthochschule Halle (Saale) from 2006 to 2012.
After this term, he declined an appointment as a professor at Hochschule Hannover - the University of Applied Sciences and Arts for the subject of creativity and the psychology of perception and joined the University of Wuppertal as a Professor, teaching the Didactics of Visual Communication ever since. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

Valuble knowledge indeed this is thank you. but next time tell the sound engineer to put a noise gate on the main mic channel. i can hear the man swallowing and that might hinder the minds ability to stay focused on what he is saying while he is conveying his message

Interesting that the speaker chose to wear gray and pink, considering what he said about people who had to wear those colors.

If camouflage were based on color, we wouldn't have orange or yellow animals. Camouflage is based on tone. Most animals are color-blind and don't need to see colors in order to find food.

I watched it at 1.25 speed you notice less breaks in the presentation that way and if your used to American accents like I am it's much easier to understand at least for me

There are people who prefer a better sound in communication than a better visual presentation. I thing the visual part is amazing, that´s clear in his presentation, that he study about color and visual communication, and that is what is essentially exposed by him, not his voice.
