On February 4th 1974 Heiress of the powerful Hearst family, Patty Hearst, was taken from her college dorm by a group of so-called activists- aka the Symbionese Liberation Army. Not even 13 days into captivity Patty Hearst joined the SLA denouncing her name and allegiance to her ruling family. Together Patty Hearst & the SLA hit a Hibernia Bank in San Francisco. Images quickly surfaced of the Heiress taking up arms during the heist.. bringing on a media frenzy.
The FBI and LAPD closed in on Patty Hearst & her SLA comrades- and it would all come to an end after a hellish shootout in the suburbs of Los Angeles.

The 1983 US Marshals shootout with "right wing tax protester" Gordon Kahl in Medina, ND and the manhunt that subsequently followed tracking him into Arkansas on a friend's farm where the FBI and other agencies set fire to the farmhouse killing Gordon Kahl. He's been lauded as a hero by some and a villain by others. Was he a man pushed too far who stood up to his perceived oppressors, or a murderous right wing extremist?? #734 Death and Taxes is a great documentary here on KZfaq of one version of the story. There is droves of information and videos on various news resources from North Dakota on the internet also as well as the University of North Dakota.

I mean that's not particularly true. There are Black Panthers who were convicted of shooting at police out now. The terrorist that did the London embassy siege that survived are out now too. There are people who served in ADX supermax for terrorism that have been released. None of these people came from particularly wealthy families. In Japan all those kids who tortured and murdered Junko Furuta are all out too. Same with the kids that murdered Silvia Marie Lykens, one of them even became a school teacher. Justice is just a fickle ass thing. Sometimes people get it, other times people don't.

Would you consider doing a video on the University of TX tower shooting? I find it so interesting (and sad) that the killer himself suspected a physical reason for his splitting headaches and sudden homicidal thoughts, to the point of asking to be autopsied after his death. And sure enough, they found a brain tumor that COULD potentially explain both.

Kurt Russell played Charles Whitman in the1975 movie "The Deadly Tower." That movie got a lot of things wrong. Houston McCoy and Ray Martinez, the police officers who shot Whitman, both sued MGM. Martinez sued because he felt he and his family were portrayed in a manner that perpetuated Hispanic stereotypes. His wife wasn't pregnant, and her ethnic background was German-American, not Hispanic-American. A disclaimer at the beginning of the movie reads: "Both the character and personality of Ramiro Martinez' wife and certain scenes about the Martinez family have been fictionalized for dramatic effect." They completely left Houston McCoy out of the movie and he was the cop who shot Whitman. There is a better semi-animated documentary called "The Tower" that does a better job on this story.

I 100% believe she was in on it from the beginning. What hostage taker would trust thier hostage with a loaded gun after only 13 days? If I was the kidnapper I would assume that was a ploy to try to escape. The only reasoning I can imagine for why they would trust her with a weapon after so little time was because they knew she was on thier side from the beginning. After the main group dying in the fire there was no one who could contradict the "stockholm syndrome" excuse.

In 2006, in El Salvador, students from a public University organized a riot and then one of the students whipped out an M16a2 rifle and killed 2 police officers and injured several others, thus triggering a year-long manhunt for the suspect. And the reason for the riot? Because a private bus company announced they would increase the price of the tickets to 30 cents when it used to cost 20 cents...all of that for just 10 cents. In conclusion: university students are really freaking stupid.

Great video as always, snappy pacing and gets to the heart of things. The visuals really help tell the story. I've said this before, the music definitely adds something to the video but sometimes I feel the sound balance is a little off, the music is a tiny bit too loud but I'm not sure how others feel.

She Monica Lewinsky’d herself out of that one. A full on pardon¿!?I This right here made my head hurt. My buddy’s 19 y.o nephew caught his 1st and only criminal charge ever, get sentenced to 5 years for burglary, do about 2 of the 5, get denied parole, not once but twice they denied him and made him serve the max. 56 months. Not a single institutional charge. This brainless waste of space and air ends up with a pardon? For what? The justice system needs and update. Smh.

Bro I remember being around the age of 10 and faking being sick so I can stay home from school and watch that one show FBI’s most wanted before on demand streaming or recording shows on tv was a thing. You bring it full circle and add a great level of coolness and immersion with the fast paced, straight to the point, perfectly fitting soundtrack, and overall theme of these videos with your editing and narration.

You don't know what the fuck you're talking about. Marines were never used during the LA riots. It is unconstitutional to use active duty troops for law enforcement. I was living in LA at the time and my National Guard unit was called up. Only National Guard troops were deployed. the incident you described NEVER occurred.

I watched this SLA shootout on live TV as it happened, a young reporter ( Chuck Henry) was giving live commentary & while taking cover behind a fire engine, a spent round impacted next to him , the building was on fire by this time fully involved & ammo was cooking off. He held the bullet for viewers to see, he was quite surprised and Lucky. He retired reporting at the end of 2022
