Much prefer this to John Wayne's ponderous epic.

Well… They got the part where Travis shot in the head about right. Close, anyway. That was the one historically accurate thing they managed to pull off. Sort of. It’s interesting to see how John Wayne ripped off the death of Crockett scene. Crockett not only didn’t blow up the armory, nobody did.

Didn't rip it off. He was originally part of movie. Read about it

We're fortunate that the chapel still stands. At the very end of the real battle the Texian Master-at-Arms was about to use his lit flambeau to set off the gunpowder being stored in the chapel, but he was killed by a Mexican musket ball, with his flambeau mere inches from the powder. Had he succeeded then the entire chapel would've been destroyed, killing the women and children in the sacristy - Susannah Dickinson wouldn't make it out, so no eyewitness account from her.

A lot of these scenes, especially the beginning when the Mexicans were first attacking the Alamo, were used in the 1987 Alamo movie.

I THOUGHT I recognized those charge scenes. Wonder how 13 Days To Glory got away with it.

Something like that really happened in 1814. It was the Battle of San Mateo, Venezuela.

Wayne tried for decade to get Republic studios to make the Alamo . They always turned him down, when Wayne finally left to produce the movie himself Republicans pictures threw this film together quickly as an affront to Wayne. I still like the movie thiugh

I thought the fighting was more realistic and violent than the 1960 film, I was surprised, either way, a good film, I’ve love the story of the Alamo since I first saw it way back in 1960, an Alamo nut you might say 😂👌

Too bad Herb Yates at Republic Pictures did not support John Wayne in his efforts to make a movie about the Alamo. The action scenes in this movie are similar to the Wayne version but still not the same. . . .

So many similarities between this and John Waynes
@gijoe5082 жыл бұрын
That’s because this was going to be John Wayne’s but republic pictures wouldn’t give the budget so when Wayne made his own they quickly churned one out to get it out ahead of him.

@@gijoe508 And then 'The Alamo: 13 Days of Glory' used alot of stock footage from both versions.
