End of an era... A day that will be in the HiSTory books as we see the final four 2+8 HST sets at Reading station.
First, we see 43093 and 43188 working 1A23 1530 Bristol Temple Meads to London Paddington.
Second, we see 43172 and 43162 working 1P61 1502 Worcester Shrub Hill to London Paddington (cancelled between Great Malvern and Worcester Shrub Hill)
Third, we see 43002 and 43198 working 1L71 1429 Swansea to London Paddington.
Fourth, we see 43185 and 43009 working 1A24 1600 Bristol Temple Meads to London Paddington the very last normal passenger HST to London Paddington.
Fith we see 43188 and 43093 working 1C92 1803 London Paddington to Plymouth.
Sixth we see 43162 and 43172 working 1G60 1815 London Paddington to Cheltenham Spa.
Seventh we see 43009 and 43185 working 1W08 1822 London Paddington to Hereford.
And last we see 43198 and 43002 working 1Z26 1832 London Paddington to Taunton the very last normal passenger HST from London Paddington through Reading.

I miss the GWR 2+8 HSTs on intercity services and with the slam doors. Slam doors were the best doors

Great footage, final run of the class 43s on the Paddington Reading Swindon route. Replaced by GWRs new Diesel electric class 800 5 coach trains

Nice! I was on 43162 and 43172 on the Cotswolds and Malverns Line yesterday on the penultimate westbound departure. I made a video too.

What will happen to the class 43 power cars? End of a railway era.

William Radford GWR are keeping like 22 power cars. 43002 is going to the National a Railway Museum. Most of them have gone to Scot Rail and the rest are being stored in Ely Papworth Sidings for the time being. No one knows what will happen to them.
