Great vid Gray and very interesting. Definitely some clear parallels between Bran , Bran the Builder and the Last Hero , likely all Starks who sought out the CotF and all highly influential to the events of their time periods. Bran and Brandon the Builder (supposedly) both lost the use of their legs as well. There could be some amalgamation of numerous Starks who were combined into one legend as many many years passed but I also think Gray you could absolutely be on to something here. And in particular Bran the Builder could actually be behind some of the things attributed to him as in constructing The Wall & Winterfell , but to do everything suggested with Storm's End & the Hightower he would have to have been converted into a role where he could live much longer than a typical mortal human life. Bran the Builder does fit the role of The Last Hero , a Stark (founder of the House) seeking out the CotF in hopes of resolving The Others situation which not only The Wall but Winterfell are likely both be part of. Bran the Builder could have become the first Three-Eyed Raven as a human the Children trusted and given the ability to be an intermediary between the CotF & the humans with communication , cooperation and in general. I also agree and believe there has been a TER since the first Long Night and stewards have filled the role from then until the present day in the narrative. So conceivably each TER could have collectively fulfilled the projects and aspirations of the original , who may have been Bran the Builder. Part of the pact / resolution with the WW could have been that Brandon may have had to become the Night King to control the Others and help build The Wall with ice magic to separate the factions in conflict. It also does make sense that not only the CotF and humans but the Others could have been part of that pact to end hostilities and help construct The Wall. The 12 companions seen behind the NK in the scene where he turns the baby could have been the Last Hero's original group and Bran the Builder could have conceivably taken the 13th Lord Commander title as an honorary number when in fact he was the 1st Lord Commander but decided to use that number to honor his 12 dead companions. My only issues here are where does the Battle for the Dawn and Brandon the Breaker situations factor in with this theory. And my other issue is i feel like the Night King probably was the first WW , because it just makes the most sense as he can create all the Others he needs and the whole race springs out from one creation ; otherwise the CotF would have to create each WW individually which is much less streamlined. But its also possible the NK came at some point after The Others were originally created. Anyway we look at it between future books, Season 8 and the prequel series a lot of the myth and legends within the narrative are going to be dispelled in terms what we think we know.

The Night Fort also has the hidden door as well. Plus Brenden explained to Bran he had to regain what he lost, and what if it was his own memories throughout those lifetimes like the wording says that help them either defeat or become the Night King. I say that because according to Old Nan the Nights King at the fort was a Stark named Brandon/Brenden plus after Bran became the TER he pretty much lost all emotion so becoming the Night King really isn't a stretch. Great job with the theory too I think the Starks and Walkers have more mystery about them than anyone else really.

Hi 👋 gray nice video interesting tbh some facts to this Brandon Rivers blood raven original 3 eye crow bran The builder children of the forest the first hero night king pact add together It always goes back to the beginning where it all starts again

Love it :) it fits perfectly with something I figured out about the pact and how all the first men wound up worshipping heart trees. Ygritte (who looks like a weirwood) said to Jon every man can have either a wife or a dagger, not both. I think that is the pact, that is now misremembered. When Bran merges with the tree in the books it is called wedding the trees, so what if the pact was each family must have and be wed to a tree or be given a dragon glass dagger? Then one Stark could have taken the tree, the other the dagger and built the wall, and said he’d only return if the Starks were in danger, or killed. As the two red comets we hear about both arrived after the death of Starks, so could be a signal. And he might have been supposed to stay at the night fort to let the Others through in times of war, but he was betrayed and driven north by his own kin. That’s what I believe happened and it does fit with what you said.

Maybe the last 3ER was named Bryndon because he was a bridge back for Brandon?

Love it! I think our Brandon and possibly Brendon Rivers ? went back in time and set all these buildings in motion. I think that’s why Brandon Stark seems like he’s not there physically because his mind is in other timelines.

YES!!! For months now I have believed that The Last Hero, Bran the Builder, and The Night’s King were the same person, but I couldn’t find a single other expert who agreed! Thank you for making this! I think it just makes so much sense. GRRM is always so tricksy with his games of Broken Telephone, trying to discern out facts over the course of thousands of years, with multiple same names thrown in to confuse us even more. It makes SO much more sense for a White Walker to have built The Wall, than for it to be the work of humans or COTF. Ice magic is only within the purview of the White Walkers. GRRM usually tries to have his magic tied in some scientific basis. In this case I think it’s that warging is a recessive genetic trait that shows up in some Starks. Bran the Builder was special even among wargs. I think he made a pact with the COTF, which worked for a time( maybe involving baby sacrifices for the weirwoods), at which time he built Winterfell, but the COTF betrayed him and made him into the Night’s King. I think what the White Walkers are doing with the wights is just warging into dead bodies. I don’t agree with your 3ER aspect of the theory. I think the 3ER is Craster’s father (Brynden Rivers) who is the one who made a pact with the White Walkers to keep them in pure blooded babies. How else would Craster have been able to communicate with the Others? There’ are some double dealings and shocking betrayals coming...

Great video, and very thought provoking as always! I'm skeptical of the white walkers being party to the pact - I think they are the creation of the children that could no longer fill a purpose after the pact and sent to lay dormant in the land of always winter. I think the 13th Lord Commander (number chosen for the story for the symbolism of an unlucky number) was making bastards to sacrifice to the others, and the last hero became the night's king so he could warg into and control the reanimated Others (notice that when one white walker dies, all the zombies they control fall. This must be a taboo and powerful warging ability). One problem that I have with theories on the construction of the wall is that it never includes wildlings, which have blood ties to the old Starks and other northern families. How could a wall be constructed to keep out white walkers but leave people of first men blood on the other side? I feel like these must be bastards of great houses that went to the other side (I wonder if they were originally sacrifices like Crasters, but never turned because the WWs were dormant). Though I love the idea of Bran the Builder being the 3ER! That feels harmonious to me, as he could store his knowledge in the tree and use that to visit others in dreams with instruction.

I think I need to point something out which it seems everyone ignores. We are told by the story itself that the Nights Watch add to the Wall. Sam says it is one of the main jobs of the builders. They use ice because it is convenient and available in a place where it is always cold and snowing. 8000 years is a long time to build up a wall. The Wall wasn't built by Brandon the Builder, at least not in its present form. It was built by the Nights Watch long after the Long Night ended. Brandon built the original Wall, which is the stone wall at the heart of the Wall. All the ice was added later by the Nights Watch. The magic is in the stone Wall that Brandon built, which power than extends to the ice Wall. The White Walkers had nothing to do with it and therefor predictions made regarding supposed cooperation between the White Walkers and Brandon are wrong.

Remembering the Three-Eyed Raven's face that was carved into the trees, it looked a lot like him. But now the heart tree at Winterfell does not look like Brandon, it almost looks like the Night King has anyone else noticed that?

It would be cool if the army of the dead was marching towards winterfell for battle when suddenly, an ancient, invisible force-field like the one seen at the entrance to the three eyed ravens cave or the wall is found surrounding winterfell to the shock of both the living and the dead.

I’ve thought that the Last Hero was the Nights King for a long time, and that he was either Brandon the Builder, or BtB was the Nights King’s brother. But your addition that he was the first Three Eyed Raven and all of his architectural works are that of the Three Eyed Raven in general was really interesting! Do you think he was immortal before he turned into the Night’s King and that’s why he had no fear? Since you recently pointed out that all men must know fear, that would make him not just a man. Maybe he didn’t plan on giving his soul to the Nights Queen, or he knew he would have to pay a price in some way, but didn’t know exactly how. Or the Children only taught him how to speak the language of the Children and the White Walkers, which I think is exactly how people hear Bran when he talks to them in visions, and he had to make a pact with the White Walkers on his own (or speak for himself in a three way pact like you suggested) maybe Craster could understand or get the hint to sacrifice his sons that way.

Anyone else feel like it would have been preferable to live through the long night than the gap between season 7 and 8 of GOT?

I'm seeing a bunch of parallels and reference to specific numbers, but I'm having a hard time believing the immortality angle. Long lived, sure. I mean, measter aemon joined the watch at the same time as the 3-eyed Raven, and look how old they were, but being immortal is a stretch. You may be right about bran the builder being the last hero (and potentially the night king if that's how the long night ended the first time). I think it's possible that he had other people complete his projects, though, much like how real world artists in the Renaissance era have hundreds of pieces attributed to them even though their apprentices did most of the work.

Very interesting, and I like where you are going with it. But wasn't it Bran the builder who killed his brother the nights king? I'm not a 100% sure, but I thought that is how the story went. Nonetheless I really enjoy hearing these theories and can't wait till the next one.

Not sure about Brandon the Builder, but I think you're right to suggest the Last Hero and Night's King are connected. In fact, I think they could be the same person, but the tale has got twisted in the telling over millennia - like a game of Chinese Whispers (I think you call it the telephone game in America; that's what wiki say anyway, so it must be true, right!). Mayhaps in the beginning, the Lord Commander of the Night's Watch was a man chosen to be a periodic sacrifice to the Others to stop them coming south, but somewhere along the line it got forgotten as the white walkers morphed into legend?
