Not having a go, just constructive criticism, try not to interrupt too much. Graham is long winded and needs space and time to tell his stories. He often forgot where he was at in certain points. I understand you were trying to clarify certain things like the year a certain event happened etc, but sometimes it was just to reaffirm a really insignificant detail which disrupted the flow. But really great interview overall that's just a minor point. Awesome work mate could see the passion you had for this interview as you explained it was one you wanted from the start. Loved that bit at the end where you gave his clothing a proper shoutout (as opposed to the usual we'll leave a link below) and the gift boxes were really classy mate.

This is the first podcast I’ve seen of him but to me it just looked like a bloke who was genuinely excited to have this guest and at times he tried a bit too hard to relate to him. Nothing serious, no massive character flaw just lead him to talk over Graham a bit which disrupted the flow at times.

Yeah totally agree mate, some podcasters are too much and often ruin their own episodes by wanting to dominate the discussion too much. Key part of podcasting is reading the room and knowing your guests. If they are long winded with their responses, you need to give them room.

I saw Bunny Johnson fight one of my favourite fighters, Tony Mundine on the Gold Coast in '81. I didn't have much money at the time, so I bought the cheapest ticket. I got there early to watch all the prelims so I could get my money's worth, they were still setting things up, security wasn't in place, so I just walked up to the ring, sat down at ringside and pretended I was where I should be but the whole time I was just waiting for the tap on the shoulder...that never came. It wasn't sold out, no one asked me to move so I ended up watching the fight up close. I'd been to the fights plenty of times before but usually sat miles back from the action but sitting at ringside was a whole different experience, you hear every punch land, see the look in their eyes, hear the corner men talk between rounds, it was excellent. Both fighters were in the twilight of their careers when they met but they both tried their guts out, it was a hard, tough fight between two experienced, well matched old pros. Tony Mundine got a late TKO. Tony Mundine next fought and stopped Steve Axcel for the Australian heavy, cruiser and light heavy weight titles. I've never seen another (big) Australian who boxed as perfectly as Tony Mundine in his prime, he was beautiful to watch and had such perfect form.

Would have been nice to try and keep an instinct timeline happening. I know it’s hard when Abo loves a story and tends to digress a lot from story to story and things are jumping all over the place. But I feel like a load of potential cool info at the start was missed from when Abo n Neddy first started out after Neddy got out of Jail when they linked up. Would have been cool to hear stories of what they were up to n what else was happening around them in the underworld. I know a lot of that is common knowledge now and well documented from other podcasts, docos and shows but hearing those stories from the horses mouth is always better. But it jumped real quick to their fight over the 50k owed to Abo, to him being set up for the Mick Dury shooting. After you got excited over their fight it would have been good to bring Abo back a bit on the timeline you had started about how Abo & Neddy linked up. Keeping guests on track is hard though and you got a 2 hour pod out of it. So well done with that.

It sounds like Neddy had ADHD or something poor impulse control - and always looking for some excitment. Or possbly schizophrenic. It sounds like Abo looked at it more like a business. Risk versus reward. Where Neddy's reward was the risk - the "buzz" - of doing or being involved in the crime and the violence. I knew someone in my earlier life who wasn't super violent but was always in trouble - they were literally schizophrenic - and they were always involved in "situations", always big noting themselves, manuipulating people and always in. trouble. Neddy doesn't sound like a likeable poerson, but It's kinda poetic justice that he verballed so many cops to ICAC. I think Rogerson mioght have got a medal for shooting Lafranchi. I think Neddy delivered him up, but it was set up to look like Lafranchi had a gun and Rogerson "heroically" shot him.

Domestic violence ? . Should have come to my place as a kid . My mother was a nutter , yelled and screamed and at times smashed the place up . She would wind my old man up while watching Tv and he would walk across the room and smash her in the face . Us kids would get out there real fast and hide in the bedrooms . For the next couple hours it was carnage . I’d frequently see mother with a busted face and she would tell us kids it was our fault she got a hiding . She would start an argument with my father and try to pour hot water from the jug on him . If she wasn’t doing that she would run to the knife draw to try stab the old man . She would frequently tell us she was going to kill the lot of us and I’m surprised she didn’t . Couple of times my old man held my mother down when she was hysterical and my brother had to ring the doctor who cam and sedated her like a wild animal . We had punch up with the whole family next door once on the street outside the house . It was a crazy time in my life and one I wouldn’t wish on anyone .
