TLOU Part 2 demanded a level of maturity from it's players that is unrivaled in gaming which a big part of the Gaming community simply wasn't ready for. The nuanced ambivalence and empathy of that game is something that made many people uncomfortable because it breaks the foundations of what escapism is build on which is the cuddly & cozy comfort of sweet simplicity where good & evil are easily identified. TLOU Part 2 reaches a level of psychological complexity i had before only known from the great novels. Truly remarkable...

@@Shelby-Collins That moment where Abby smashes Joel's head in with a Golf Club was so insanely disrespectful, and it only got multiplied when, in the initial "climax" the game forces you play as her for the next 10 hours. Worst of all, her story is incredibly boring! Sure, her dreams are a unique way of representing her state of mind, but it just feels like you're doing a bunch of side quests. Take for example: The medical supplies for Yara. The Rat King does open up a ton of possibilities for much more terrifying infected hiding deep in the initial outbreak areas, but this glorified fetch quest takes around 2 hours, which is longer than most movies. Only for her to BE SHOT TO DEATH THE VERY NEXT DAY. When that part happened, I needed to pause and go outside, knowing damn well I wasted 2 hours of my life, getting medical supplies to amputate this girl's arm just for her to die the next Act. I honestly recommend you see The Closer Look's video where he rewrites The Last Of Us 2 entirely, I guarantee you there's a much better ending, sendoff to Joel, characters and just better emotional moments.
