Still think it was stupid to get rid of the harrier 10 years or more before it's replacement the f35 we could have kept them fly a bit longer the us marines still fly them

The Harrier was just another world beating aircraft that should still be flying, its replacement? the Lightning-an afterthought in my eyes.

USMC still fly the Harriers 10 years after the British had scrapped them. The pilot was right in saying that the Harriers still have many years left in them and they are still a capable aircraft. It’s a shame that the politicians decided otherwise. The British was lucky in that Argentina didn’t make use of the opportunity in the interim when the Royal Navy had no aircraft carriers and Harriers to take another shot on the Falklands.
