More brainwashing to keep men signing up to fight wars for contractors, bankers, government and media. The Military Industrial Complex, in other words. Generals Ike and Butler were right. The only thing missing to reflect the reality of today’s Navy was a few drag queens on the crew of the James. I retired from the Navy ten years ago.

a high voltage needs to be produced by a conductor and then discharged to ground to destroy electronics....the ship is metal and is grounded being in saltwater so I doudt this would happen...also any external conductors such as antennas prob are protected by MOV metal oxide varistors so any voltage on these would be sent to ground.

I didn't get the name of the man who played the Russian Admiral. I think I've seen him on the TV show JAG. He played a Russian Sub Captain who fired a Super torpedo that almost destroyed his ship. He did better on this show.

Arleigh Burke have no chances in 1vs1 combat vs Kirov class. It is a support ship in the carrier group. It's role is anti-air defense, standard tomahawk missiles load is 24, other 50 cells will be loaded with SAM, it;ll be SM-3 or SM-6 (if we take flight II) and no anti-ship missiles. Korov have 20 massive hypersonic P-700 or P-1000 as main weapon with for anti-ship warfare. 96 ready-to-launch SAMs of long and mid range of SA-N-6 Grumble, 128 mid-range missiles of SA-N-9 Gauntlet and 144 short range 6 CADS-N-1 Kashtans. + there is 3 heles vs 2...

Not only that. The Last Ship made it clear that the Kirov also had a nuclear arsenal. Arleigh Burke would easily boil in a battle against Kirov.

@@kobetiu8628 You don't fire a nuke at point-blank; both ships would be destroyed, as well as the surrounding area. Plus, a Kirov cruiser does not have armament optimized for close-quarters in comparison to an Arleigh-Burke class destroyer.

I always assumed the Arleigh Burke was mostly still at full capability, while the Kirov was not fully armed or fully manned. Still as an old EW tech ( 79-83 ) I still remember you never wanted to get into a slap fight with ANY large Soviet navy vessel, in poor shape or not.

The sinking of the Moskva shows that Russian surface ships are hot garbage which is what anyone with a brain could have concluded. The only funding the Russian navy gets goes to its submarines but after Kursk even that it suspect.

Season 1 and 2 were awesome, I still watch them. Three was ok but had a very rushed ending, to be fair they didn't know if it was going to be renewed. 4 was meh, forgetable...5 was just terrible, so many plot holes left unexplained, characters that just disappeared.

The Kirov cannot open fire because the US ship has the scientist and all her stuff which is what they really want, if they destory the US DDG then they also destroy what they have been chasing.

It's not only a Kirov battlecruiser but also a modernized one, WITH nuclear capabilities. Captain Chandler may have had balls challenging the Kirov to a fight with an Arleigh Burke but if the Admiral accepted the challenge, the destroyer would have been easily blown to kingdom come.

Kobe, Chandler had the balls because he knew the Kirov wouldn't fire with the scientific experiments the Nathan James had onboard. If thr Kirov sunk them then Ruskov's enitre mission would have sunk no pun intended.

Well in reality, the Modernized Arleigh-Burke class is capable in defense facing an Old Kirov Class ship with Poweful Offensive weapons. In the end which ships is better? The clear answer will be the Kirov class, although the Arleigh-Burke is modernized and have high defensive countermeasures capabilities. The Kirov class has a much better advantage on speed including nuclear fuel, and enough offensive capabilities with his size is enough to outgunned and withstand anything the Arleigh-Burke class can throw at it. But if you're asking the actual combat experience? We'll never know for sure in real life, not fiction

Pls explain to me how on earth in that episode, the guy with his girlfriend managed to went back to their ship after jumping off from their little boat with the bomb on it?? I mean do they swim back?? That would make no sense at all since the distance would be insane… They just came back to their ship and no one ever questions again how this is even possible?? Is that such a giant Error in logic or did i miss anything?? Pls explain… im just wondering why i feel like im the first person on KZfaq/Reddit who thought about this…

@@compmanio36 Realistically the US destroyer would hit it once and all of its weapons would cook off like the Moskva. Russian surface forces couldn’t fight their way out of a wet paper bag. All the navy’s funding goes to their submarines but after Kursk I question if it really matters.

He had no choice, the admiral isn't in a position to keep losing his original crew and he wasn't sure if Chandler was really going to kill those Russian Marines swimming in the water or not especially if special forces weren't dime a dozen on the Russian cruiser. The officer that Ruskov did shoot to prove a point was very low ranking, probably an ensign with no real important role on the ship, he wouldn't shoot his XO, skilled navigational or engineering officers because there is no replacement for them. Also the US had all the food under guard and despite the Russian cruiser being nuclear powered, the sailors manning her cannot go 20 years without food.

Burke destroyers are more technologically advanced than a Kirov cruiser and the Kirov doesn't have many weapons that can attack Burke at point blank range. Given that they were the last known ships in their respective navies neither side wanted to risk irreparable damage and loss of crew in such close range battle.
