Following the epic second-season cliffhanger, the highly anticipated third season finds the crew of the Nathan James shifting their attention to Asia after President Michener hears rumblings that the Chinese leader, President Peng, has been hoarding the "Scott cure" instead of distributing it to the people in the region. Michener sends Chandler to a global summit to investigate this allegation, as well as rumors of a possible mutation of the original virus that has caused a fresh outbreak in Japan. If the mutation has occurred, and Asia has not been protected, the consequences for the world are dire. I just watched the first 2 seasons straight last night, this might be one of the best series I've ever watched. The first couple of episodes are pretty corny, but after that shit just hits the fan and the plot constantly thickens.

I'm so glad that this airs during the summer because this has turned into one of my most favorite shows! Great time to watch as my other favorites shows take their break.

BURNANNATOR Their ship exploded when the team from the USS Nathan James put explosive charges along the ship in their rescue attempt for Tex, Captain Chandler, and the Quincy's wife and daughter. It's later shown that the crew dove into lifeboats, as evidenced by that Russian scientist's return. So some of the crew could still be alive.

+Roger Means It's not being a bandwagon fan. When a show stops delivering on the things that an individual viewer found most interesting - and it's different for everyone - they have every right to stop watching. Do you continue to give your money to businesses that don't provide you with the quality and type of service that you want? I doubt it. I'm not trying to be rude but this is only tv and life is too short to keep watching a show that isn't meeting whatever expectations a person may have. I'll still watch this show but I don't begrudge anyone else deciding that it's not for them anymore.

It's being a great series. Its perfect for Summer Time. I & most ppl have seen the extended trailer & 1 hr special this past memorial day weekend. But the trailer hardly even show "Dr. Scott" or "Tex"? Many of fans have theories. My is properly is like this. "Tex" had decided to stay behind to be with his daughter. Plus there's "Dr. Rachel Scott" The writer's or the producer's better not had wrote her off?But in last season, she was shot & left for dead. But it didn't show if she really died? There some fans find it strange, how a immune fundamentalist manage to pass security? How did he know which room is in? Was it luck or did he had help?? If u look closely in the vids, you see she either took the bullet in her chest or shoulder? In point blank range. But she can't just die. She's one of important character's in the show. It's possible she could be the key in helping of figuring out the new virus strain. She would either in a coma or hidden away someplace. If somebody inside the president's office, had her death stage. Enough to fool everyone including her friends & tom. Everybody is buyin' it. If it's only for her protection & continue her work or she's being held against her will? (Since the world is in progress of rebuilding, restoring law & order. There could be a secret coup is going on inside the government it's self. There could be some new players, who are waiting to take power as a hostile takeover) There better be a surprising moment, where Rachel has returned from the dead. As her friends are stunned of seeing her alive & well. Then she explains why she had all of them believing she's was dead. Let's see what's in store this new season.

Booooo; no Rachel? I lived for tom & rachels contentious bantering; more importantly her passion which is why her character is vital to the show. I think the ratings would go down without her but maybe not to the extent of it being cancelled. Personally no rachel means no show for me but thats just me.

I just wanna comment about the frustrations fans have about the long wait between seasons,it is a pain but look at the realism of this show & the fact that the military actually has a hand in its production,The Last Ship is probably the most expensive show on tv to film other than Game of Throwns ,yea sure it is 9 months between seasons but look how good the production value & writing is

With Falling Skies over and Defiance cancelled on Syfy, this will be the best summer show going forward. This show knows how to do serious right. Everyone is serious, but driven with positive energy and working towards a hopeful goal of saving the human race. Key Word: hope! Unlike some shows, where everyone is miserable most of the time and/OR there is no hope left there. Just survive episode to episode, kill as many walkers and humans you can, until its your turn to die.

Never saw defiance and falling skies was good for the first couple seasons and after that I didn't think it was good. This show is awesome tho!

Ryan Both True. Falling Skies was one of those shows that if you drag it too many seasons, it was going to get boring. Fitting it ended at season 5, but the final battle could have been more epic. The Last Ship is really good!! I can't believe its ratings aren't as good as Walking Dead. Using a real destroyer and Russian missile cruiser and all the action, its not a cheap show to make.

Dr. Scott was the heart of this show. She is the reason the human race has a chance to live. For now, I'll keep an open mind because the actress that Capt. Chandler meets in Asia (one speaking many languages) was great as Kalan in Legend of the Seeker. She cannot replace the Doctor, but willing to give her a chance to see where she can take this show.

Imdb shows rating as 7.5 and Rotten Tomatoes as 83 but it must be given 9.5....its such good no bore and mind blowing action and strategies..... Heading to season 3,hope the same here....one of my all time favorite show😘😍

i guess they are not showing Rachel/Rhona Mithra to keep the suspense of the cliffhanger ? i hope so because although i like TLS there are plenty of times when it bored me and as much as i don't want to be a shipper, Rachel and Tom's relationship is what made me continue honestly. i'm glad i did at the end because it got better but this couple saved that show for me. that being said, DICHEN LACHMAN YEAH !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Chandler's shoulder boards shows that he is captain in this seasons, but isn't he been promoted to Chief of Naval Operations? That makes him a 4 star admiral status. What do I miss here?

That being the requirement that CNO be appointed from the flag ranks. Section (b) continues, "while so serving, has the grade of admiral without vacating his permanent grade".

Looks like Slattery got command of the Nathan James since Chandler was promoted to beurocrat status, but way to get Chandler took a demotion to find his friend. Sounds like Star Trek! lol I'm pretty sure Rachel is OK, they just don't want to spoil her fate to keep us wondering.

This show is absolute shit I have no idea why I love it so much. I wonder if cliffhanging the death of the only really likable main character in the show was a way to bring people back in

There is nothing more despicable than an end of season cliffhanger. It's like the writers flipping a bird at their audience violating Hitchcock's rule about letting the ticking time bomb building suspense actually end up going off. If you have a downer ending every episode and every season finale it stops being a suspense building cliffhanger and starts feeling like being trapped in eternal damnation with "Abandon All Hope Ye Who Enter Here" as the show's tagline. It does not hold an audience to see the conclusion as the fact that ratings dropped from 4 million to 2 million viewers in season 2 objectively demonstrates. Of course the fact that the Nathan James had no chaplain at any of it's funerals should be a big clue it's written by atheists.

+Elizabeth Lizzy Tbh doesn't make sense for her to be killed off now. It would be a cheap move for TNT to end the last season that way to ensure views for third season. Hopefully she is still alive and will be for more than 10 minutes in episode 1!
